Her father was Dior and her mother was Nimloth. Nimloth was an Elf but Dior was of mixed heritage. His father Beren was a Man and his mother Luthien was the daughter of Thingol, the Elvenking of Doriath, and Melian, a Maia from the Undying Lands. Elwing was considered one of the Half-elven, or Peredhil.
