Hi everyone! Just a quick research question here, since I can't seem to find it: Can anyone provide me with a passage from any work of Tolkien which mentions the oak tree over Bag End? Galin, this one's for you. Wink Smilie

A bit pressed for time at the moment, but there's a tree atop the Hill in Tolkien's own illustration (reproduced in calendars and so on), if that's what you mean.

There might be a passage too, can't recall right now, but if a picture is worth so many words...

Can you give me a link to the picture?

I don't know of any on the web right now that are certainly not stepping on copyright, but if you search images of 'The Hill, JRR Tolkien', for example, you should find some...

... I just did that and found some actually, but again I'm not sure they are up with proper permission necessarily.

By the way, I hope you didn't think me lazy or rude above, but I would just rather not link to possible copyright violations here.

And also I assumed you could find the illustration easy enough with those 'keywords' (if that's the correct term), as well.

I did! Big Smile Smilie Thanks Galin.
