Except if the character's 5/8 Elven, he gets better with each viewing. Gonna watch it again, just for Elrond. :P Drool.
LOL
what an unexpected turn of events, Ungoliant!
didn't know you became such a fan of HW. the transformation is remarkable!
yeah, Elrond and Aragorn get better with each viewing but Legolas is bit of a turn off if you have too much. like cream. Smile Smilie
The only time my heart went flippety flip for Legolas was during the Boromir death scene. Lots of emotion.

HW grows on you the more you watch him? Need I remind you all that certain types of fungus can produce a similar effect? Big Smile Smilie
Still, maybe I am being a little harsh, after all, the script was hardly his fault and he may have accepted the part before he know what a character assassination it would be.
I still think he is not handsome or athletic enough for the part, and I have now watched the movie innumerable times. Also, *shock / horror, I do not feel either book or film Elrond is sexy. To me, it's kind of like imagining your uncle or cousin as sexy. Dont know why....

Mirkwood and Lorien elves still sissy. So are some of the Rivendel elves at the council, did anyone notice? I think that was how HW pulled off a more butch performance.

I have always found Viggo Mortensen a hot item! The dirtier he is, the hotter he is! Big Smile Smilie

But back on topic...I really missed the scene where Aragorn and Arwen are standing together talking in the hall of fire. I wanted to see Aragorn's "princely garments", that he got from Galadriel. I suppose I will have to wait until RoTK for a look at the "transformed" Aragorn.
Was Legolas there when Boromir died?
Really should go watch that movie again sometime.....
Legolas and Gimli kind of wander up after all the fighting is over Big Smile Smilie
Makes you wonder what they've been up to....

*slaps self*

Naughty spider! Bad spider!
It's not a bad thing only a pitty they didn't show it on screen maybe it will be in the directors cut :P
LMAO
nooooo~~~
Legolas is too good for Gimli. HE'S MINE! and the same goes for Aragorn and Boromir and Elrond. hehe

anyway, remember the scene where aragorn and co. , after trying to track down the uruk-hai in TTT get tired in Rohan and decide to rest and wait for the riders and they ride past them because of the elven cloaks? i thought that was hilarious! i hope that's in the next movie but the grey cloaks didn't really look.. 'magical'.
Hey...you can't have 'em all Rosie. Can't we share Elrond at least? You're right, I've totally changed my mind about HW Elrond...am even interested in watching his previous movies now... Wink Smilie

Jackson made a mistake 'cos he edited out the gift-giving scene. Dunno how the hell he's gonna explain dropping the brooches, the 'invisible' cloaks - all important. Especially the cloaks....what's a fantasy quest without magical cloaks, swords & potions?

Sure, you can then be the Directer of ABRAB*

*Always Being Right About Broaches
Legolas and Gimli sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G etc. etc. Wink Smilie
Been reading Legolas' diaries again, haven't you Plastic?
You can do the cloaks with just some "creative camaflouge" effects... like having them hide in a bush the exact color, or something. I'm sure they will have a "blurb" to explain the broaches. Everyone in the Fellowship did have one, after all and since Sam and Frodo are going opposite ways, Boromir is dead... it can only be Merry or Pippin's braoch they find. I think they'll have Aragorn look at the broach, you'll see him flash to Legolas, you'll see he has his on, he'll look at Gimli, ditto, and then rub his hand over his own broach....
(Will someone make me a director if I'm right?)
What broaches??? My God I have missed too much here. Big Smile Smilie

Rofl! Just think about this: whadda you call the child of an elf and a dwarf? A dwelf? Big Smile Smilie By this is proven that Legolas *is* gay. Smile Smilie

What's kept 42, anyway? I was just about to react to him/her/it. Big Smile Smilie

I've missed Glorfindel. I find it strange that they switched Glorfindel with Arwen. How odd One Eye Smilie.
I really missed the scene where the fellowship was leaving Lothlorien and Galadriel gave them all the wonderful gifts.

Or the scene where the elves give Sam the rope. I havae only seen the movie once, so I don't remember if that was in there.

[Edited on 28/8/2002 by MelliotSandybanks]
Actually, in the book FOTR, we didn't actually read about the Elves giving Sam the rope in Lothlorien, they were merely stowing the rope in the boats. In TTT, we heard him tell Frodo, when he finally remembered it on the Emyn Muil, how he had removed it from one of the boats and had put it in his pack. Of course I maybe all wet here haveing mis-interpreted the situations. Got The Blues Smilie
Mell, the scene you're talking about WAS filmed but did not make it into the theatrical cut of the film, or the home video that was just released. However, a Special Edition DVD box set will be be released in November with that scene and several others restored. making the film (correct me if I'm wrong, someone) about four hours long. Jumping Flame Smilie
Just saw the movie again last night.

I missed the entire book. Sad Smilie

I hate Arwen! Mad Smilie
No need to corrrect you Prog (unlike my spelling) you're right.

And stop being such a miserable spider, the Movie was very pretty, if nothing else. Wink Smilie
You'd think so, wouldn't you... Wink Smilie

I read that it's going to get (ahem) 'prettier' in TT. Arwen running around in her knickers or something like that. Tongue Smilie

I meant the scenery for f***s sake! I think Liv looks way too much like her dad for me to ever fancy her I'm afraid, now Cate Blanchett, there's a different matter entirely...

I don't see why not. All cats are grey at night. Wink Smilie

Ok then, you liked the scenery...and the movie was ok. But what about this then:

ENYA! Super Scared Smilie
AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't say the E word, ever!

I know I thought the scenery was pretty. But you know, I liked the scenery in Weekend at Bernies 2 as well....
Big Laugh Smilie

Sometimes we all need a little reminding every now and them...
Fellowship of the Ring
Book II
Chapter8 Farewell to Lorien page 387 of my book.
Quote:
Three small grey boats had been made ready for the travellers, and in these the Elves stowed their goods. And they added also coils of rope. three to each boat. Slender they looked , but strong, silken to the touch, grey of hue like the elven-cloaks.

Just after that is where sam sees the ropes and ask the elves about them.

gotta go. can't type anymore. hurts too much. See everyone next week.
And they talked about rope making, but there was no time for lessons, and then the Fellowship took to the boats.

So you are saying Sam put his rope in his pack, Frodo's was left under the seat, and Aragorn's was used to secure the luggage, or something like that?
After having seen the film on video, I miss the Old Forest even more. It all goes so quick in the film! It's just like they leave Hobbiton, jump in the train and arrive in Bree. Tongue Smilie
I truly missed the Old Forest and Tom Bombadillo (who I think is a very important character in LOTR). There are so many great details that very left out but I think that PJ did a good job on the adaption of the movie. Those ringwraiths looked awesome. Big Laugh Smilie L.
Hi Lucien. Yes, I agree with you. Poor old Tommy, I miss him too. Very Sad Smilie
Ok Grondy, I have been looking and looking, I guess you are right. *sighs*. Oh well.
I liked Tom Bombadillo too.
Gosh! Seems like everyone missed me... Thanks you guys! Love y'all!
Kiss Smilie
*gives everyone big hug*
Awww...

GROUP HUG! GROUP HUG!

*walks off feeling all warm & soppy inside* Big Smile Smilie
I love Enya! Big Smile Smilie I said the E word! Her music is awesome and I love the stuff in LOTR, even though after I watch it I never remember where it is!
I missed the scene where Galadriel gave the gifts. I also missed Bilbo giving Pippen and Merry advice before they left Rivendell (sp?)

[Edited on 16/9/2002 by ladyoflegolas]
Eeek! The 'E' word! Super Scared Smilie

Phew! Give us some warning before you do that, please! Shocked Smilie

Hey, that's right! I liked Bilbo giving advice too! But I think it's in RotK - when they were going back to the Shire - Bilbo got Sting & the mithril coat, Sam received a bag of gold, and Pippin & Merry got bucketsfull of advice. Hopefully that'll be in the movie. Big Smile Smilie
Just remembered this: about the scouring of and stuff. I think it will be in after all because Frodo saw it in the Mirror of Galadriel. Normally Sam should have seen it, but now Frodo kept seeing stuff. Just remembered, sorry! Tongue Smilie
Let's see, the things I missed: no Lobelia Sackville- Baggins, no spoons, Bilbo's presents, when Sam throws the apple at Bill Ferny, Glorfindel, I hate movie-Arwen, the fact that Legolas has no intelligent lines, journeying through Lorien with Haldir and Gimli and Legolas being stuck up. I was really mad at first that they left Tom Bombadil out, but think of it this way, Tommy, we all have our own pictures of him and Goldberry in our heads and we won't have them altered/spoiled/infulenced by the pictures Peter Jackson has in his head of them.
And Grondy, how about watching the movie four times a week? Is that bad for you... Big Smile Smilie

I reasoned in the same way after some (well, a pretty long) time, Sam.
And I totally agree with you Sam! Thumbs Up Smilie

Shocked Smilie Samwise: It would be bad for me; how is it for you? Any symptoms of short term memory loss? Are you ready to watch it again at the drop of a hat? When you close your eyes, do you see scenes from the movie playing on the back of your eyelids? Do you have any tendencies to ramble? If none of these apply, you probably a gotten away unscathed from the dreaded rerun monster. Animated Wink Smilie
Ha Ha Ha Smilie

Short term memory loss: none
Ready to watch it again: yes
Scenes of movie in head: well...sometimes
Tendencies to ramble: you know the answer...
Well, I have now gone two weeks without watching it Big Smile Smilie Big Laugh Smilie
Big Laugh Smilie If you have made it through a fortnight, then we have nothing to worry about. Big Smile Smilie

You probably should view the movie once this week to preclude withdrawl symptoms. Very Big Grin Smilie
Good quote!! View the movie this week...I wish I could, but I'm going to be traveling. Let's see...what was the original subject of this thread? Ah yes, what parts of the movie did you miss. I missed Gildor.
Great quote! I must buy HHGTTG!!!

View it once a week would be like ideal!! Big Smile Smilie
Well, I missed the Old Forest, Tom Bombadillo and Goldberry, Glorfindel(I can“t stand Liv-Arwen) ,the part when Frodo meets with Gildor Inglorion and the elves, and many more.......But I think it“s imposibel to make a film containing the whole book and considering this Peter Jackson did a great job.
I really missed the Old Forest and the Barrow-Downs...especially the Barrow-Weights.
Big Laugh Smilie I really miss the one when Gandalf is washing a ferret with Rosie and Samwise takes the hack and slaughters him!! Big Laugh Smilie

No but seriously I miss the scenes in the Old Forest, Tom Bombadill, Sam throwing an apple at Bill Ferny“s headBig Smile Smilie and alot more to write down Smoke Smilie

Guess who popped in and made this more family friendly?

[Edited on 4/3/2003 by PlasticSquirrel]
I missed Glorfindel.
I missed Tom Bombadil too. I liked the magical and free feeling he brought along. I think he'd make the whole movie less heavy, then they wouldn't have to make Gimli the comic relief either.
Quote:
And the wolf attack when the fellowship was going from Charadras to Moria. That was when Gandalf first showed a little of how powerful he was, and the others started to realize that he wasn't just an old wizard who made fireworks for parties!

Gut gut I would“ve liked to see that scene.....It would be great for the people who haven“t read the books to find out that he aint no common conjerer of cheap tricks like Asharak in Sagan om BelgarionBig Smile Smilie(happy with this then Val? hehehe if not okay...but I like David Eddings work to justso you know...)
