The Silmarillion is a sort of, prequal to the Lord of the Rings but it also has some things that happen afterwards but I do not believe that there is much, if any.
I`ve been told I should read it after I`ve read LOTR collection. Apparently it`s quite good. Cool Smilie
I`m a friend now! Took me 20 days! Big Smile Smilie
Moderator Smilie Actually, I was slightly disappointed. Many of these 20 days of posting are one line duplicates of: 'I agree,' 'I haven't read the books yet,' and 'Tell me what you think about this.' The latter topics especially stand out because they are adjacent to threads where our other members were doing exactly just that. Shaking Head Smilie

Hopefully, our new friend will take this to heart and will try to act more mature, rather than like some ten year old boy in a newly found chat room. Please! Happy Elf Smilie Then, as this member enters her teens, we will be subjected to, maybe not fewer, but perhaps many more meaningful posts. Wiggle Smilie

What`s the book like when you read it?

The Silmarillion is a fantastic journey through thousands of years........ I think it keeps in itself the real spirit of Tolkien's creation! Like the Silmarils keep in themselves the light of the two trees........ Wink Smilie

(ps: sorry for my English, I don't speak it very well)
IdrilCelebrindal: Welcome to our forum. Happy Elf Smilie

Your writen English is fine; I don't know how your spoken English is. Elf With a Big Grin Smilie

IdrilCelebrindal, that is beautiful! Nothing wrong with your English at all.
Take a trip over to the Forsaken Inn under Party Tree on page 8 (I think) to see the welcome for our 2000th member, which is you.

Yes, Nell, it is on the 8th page, and WOW(if you spell wow backwords, it's still wow)-Very well said-and welcome to our 2000th member!!!!!!!

I also think the Sil. is an extreemely good prequel to LOTR,'cause it explains how everything came to be, and all.

Sil, is quite a good book, It captures the imagination of the LOTR soul, it's creative and -original-(though i don't think that's the right word) and it's expressive and teaching- So , ya , Sil, is a very neat-good-extraordinary book to read.-Now that i read it, i find it was worth it-(though mainly all Tolkien books are worth it)-plus, it's GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!
(though everyone sais that it was their fav. book, i still think that the LOTR is my fav.)

Then Sillramarillion is a great book, it is very richly written, you have to go slow reading it so you will remember everything.
I`ll take your advice, read it, then I`ll tell you what I think of it. You might get the, tll you what I think of it next year, because at this rate, it`s going to take me ages to get LOTR trilogy finished! Big Laugh Smilie (AGES!)
It's a good thing your only eleven then.
