Hmmm, that is an interesting choice for a career; unfortunately, I would have no clue how to get into it. Perhaps if you check with your local college or university in the film making departments, they could give you some ideas on how to get into this type of profession.
It depends on which country you live in beleg_Strongbow.
I am not sure if you are referring to ratings (PG, R, etc). If so,ratings are usually set by a Board. My Aunt served on one of these boards for serveral years. As this was a number of years ago, qualifications have likely changed. I have pasted a link which may answer some of your questions:

As far as careers in the film industry. There are many colleges and universities out there offering programs. I am sure you will find one near you. I do suggest you consider university as the competition is very stiff in this field. I am afraid the market has been flooded with computer graphic specialists. That being said, creativty and talent go a long way. Try this link for more information on career choices in film industry.

You can also try visiting some of the production company sites as they may have some career information or job listing that will give the qualifications they require.
I hope this is of some help to you.

Thanks. I'll check the universities in my area.

Rednell--i was actually referring to the people who, after the footage is shot, scan it into the computer and enhance the color in the images. That is part of the reason the shire looks so green, and Lothlorien looks kinda bluish, and Moria is almost black and white! (There's a section on grading in the appendix in the extended version FotR.)

Whoops! Sorry. Dunce Smilie That's what I get for not watching all those discs.
I am sure you will find that this will be a component of a computer generated special effects/graphics course. That second link I posted should have something.
