I think both the banner and the reforged sword will be presented to Aragorn prior to his treading the 'Paths of the Dead', where the banner will be needed so that the oathbreakers will have to acknowledge his postAuthorIDity. It will only take a few sentences for one of the twins or the one of the Dúnedain to tell this tale and the importance of the banner. This must be told, else the journey to the Stone of Erech to gather the oathbreakers, and their march beyond to Pelargir will become meaningless.
I also belive that Narsil will be reforged. Why else would PJ forshadow it, by showing us the shards (lots of pieces, did you notice?) on display in Rivendel? The only question is: when? I feel that Arwen will bring it to Aragorn in Helm's Deep.

And why not have the banner as well? Banners look so pretty for the big screen, and PJ does seem to enjoy making the props.
The reason iI feel that they wont bother with the banner is because the director of the films is a complete MORRON, who will cahange things on a whim and doesn't se the significance of a standard or banner!

Oh calm down Ross. I agree with Grondy and Allyssa, Aragorn wil probaly get his sword and banner at a later date. As for the director being a moron, I totaly disagree. They've made a wonderful job of the FotR.

I've posted this once before I believe, but I'm really good at not finding back to where I last posted, so here I go again: Aragorn will recieve the reforged sword, PJ said so himself, but I don't know where and when and who is going to give it to him...as for the banner he didn't say anything...
Well i heard that Aragorn won't take the Paths of the Dead to arrive at the Pelennor Fields but that he's just going to take an airplane and is going to be parachuted right in the middle of the fight.

And no, no sword but just a light-sabre. A RED one. Smoke Smilie
I will not be surprised if that happens Virumor. I have a bad feeling that PJ will exclude the Paths of the Dead...and more... Question Smilie
Actually, the paths of the dead are very much in. The sets have been built anyway, so they'll show up in the extended DVD if not the movie.

My cure for both your and Ross's inflictions is to refrain from buying the videos, DVDs, and extended DVDs when they come out supplemented by a complete abstention from LotR: RotK the movie and all its supplemental issues. Only by cold turkey withdrawal From PJ creations, can you overcome these symptoms. Besides, if you do take this cure, the rest of us won't have to listen to your ***** and moaning about what was wrong with the next movie. Elf With a Big Grin Smilie
arwen will fulfill new line's perceived audience need for romance novel stuff by showing up (just when we think she's left ME w/rivendell elves) in the nick of time at the paths of the dead with at least the sword for aragorn.

or, she sends it via haldir or her brothers--oh oh, i forgot, haldir died at helm's deep. well ... i don't think the movie told us she had brothers, either, so, ergo, it's got to be herself that saves the day.

that's my bet.

i am new here and hope that i am using the tools and stuff properly.

i have been a latent tolkien geek since age of 14, and at 50 am now unfolding into full geek status, and loving it!

actually, i am okay with the movies except what the nasty accident that happened to faramir off screen that changed his personality. and except for legolas' skateboard antics at helm's deep. and except for some continuity gaffes ... but i digress.

Welcome to Planet Tolkien, dininziliel. I hope you enjoy yourself around here.

I do think you are right on this one, PJ has shown an urgent need to use Arwen as often as possible...

Yep this is because he's an idiotic hack!
