Ringfacwen: All Ross's questions pertain to "why was the movie not like the book". Your answer is correct when based on the movie, but in the book the only Elf at Helm's Deep was Legolas. In the book (RotK, Appendix A, the Elves were fighting their own battles in Mirkwood, etc.)
D@mn Straight!
Did you not get my postBody Ross, I specifically told you not to go see this movie as it would only upset you. I was right wasn't I?
Sorry I didn't get your postBody. I had to watch it so I could criticise is in an informed way.
You loved it really, though, didn't you Ross? Smile Smilie I think if it had followed TTT to the letter you would have come out disappointed.
I remember seeing Plastic's original post in a different thread saying something like, "for God's sakes, please don't ever let Ross see this movie, he might blow a gasket or something", and I thought, wow, this should be interesting!

Ross, you might be interested in reading my original review, which I posted on this site the day after I saw the movie for the first time. I have seen the movie twice now (Iím planning on seeing it again in the next day or so), and I did a follow-up review where I choose to focus on the positives I took away from the film the second time, but in some strange, twisted way, itís comforting for me to know that there are people out there who were initially as upset as I was.
Elf Smilie
Val I really cant stand the film, no joke!

Elfstone I read you review but the film still *****.
Peter Jones deserves crucifixtion!

oh... gee... I couldn't see this coming Elf Rolling Eyes Smilie
It is also a fact that no matter how hard you try to convince Ross that these movies (directed by Peter Jackson by the way Ross) are actually quite good. It's best to let him cool down a bit and then smile and nod. Wink Smilie
*smiles, nods and runs away*
Jones Jackson it's all the same to me, the mans still evil and the book is always better! Mad Smilie

I can picture PJ huddled over a keyboard with little white Imp Horns sticking up through his mass of curly black hair, laughing maniacally and muttering in a deep, raspy, Linda-Blair-in-the-Exorcist-voice, "This'll really get Ross' goat!"

No kidding?!

Seriously, this is a given. "The book was better" is the universal bookworm mantra and for good reason. I hope you don't really think that I've been arguing that the movie is better than the book all this time? Why, that would be blasphemy Big Laugh Smilie

Huh!
Complete mess...great effects and no point at all...Sad Smilie

Did Peter Jackson actually read the book or just ask for a list of characters, places and the general plot!

That is so funny..... hehehe
I wonder about that too, because if he did, the poeple who got the list for him didn't read the book either seing how many characters they left out!
Thank you, Finally someone who has noticed this!
The good news is that nobody will force you to watch RotK! Unless, of course, you insist on subjecting yourself to this level of distress.... Do you own Survivor on DVD? Very Mad Smilie Alcoholic Smilie
Never even heard of survivor and I have to watch it so I can tear it to pieces in a n informed way!
'Survivor' was a so called reality TV show where a bunch of hand picked gits got put on a desert island (except there was a resort on the other end) and they had to survive there and each could help or hinder the others. Each week the survivors got to vote off the island, one of their peers. I don't know how it ended nor do I care, as I never watch that kind of network drive. But lots did because that type of show expanded and there are many more of them, they being cheap to produce as well as in content. Yuck!
I must confess that Survivor: Australia totally captivated me. I saw every episode and I WISH I had them all on tape. Now you might say to yourself "Hmmm, this guy has really bad taste in television or is a serious voyeur or something." Wrong. I rarely watch TV at all because I find it largely uncompelling. I watch the News. I watch Farscape... and that's about it.

I don't watch any other reality series and in fact, I only saw the one season of Survivor. It was an utterly fascinating show. Those who criticize it have obviously not seen it. It's not trashy like "Temptation Island" or "Who Wants to Divorce a Millionaire" or "Come Into My House and Film Me Twenty Four Seven So You Know Exactly How Many Times I Take A Leak A Day" or any crap like that. It's a high stakes game. Period.
