*Is it better than FOTR?
*Does Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli reunite with Sam, Frodo, Merry and Pippin?

Waving Hello Smilie
Hi Sheryl!
I was just wondering about the exact same thing (when the DVD is coming out) but I don't think anyone knows the answer yet.
Btw, I hope you like "The Two Towers" Big Smile Smilie
Glad to help Sheryl Wink Smilie Hope you enjoy the movie!
Thanks STONEHELM! You are the one that seems to be replying to most of my postBodys. Wink Smilie Thankyou for reading them and that goes to the people who read them. Smile Smilie

THANKYOU!! Big Smile Smilie
My guess on this is that PJ will do the same thing he did with FOTR. I think we can probably expect to see the basic DVD version of TTT on the first Tuesday in August, with the extended version of TTT coming out about a month before ROTK. Marketing wise their strategy has been brilliant, so that's one of the many reasons I expect to see the same cycle.
Elf Smilie
I don't think you'll be far wrong there, Elfstone. I think there might be a few more people wait for the extended version this time around though.
Thanks for all your help, everyone! Big Smile Smilie
Now I have an idea of when it might come out! THANKYOU!! Wink Smilie Big Smile Smilie Tongue Smilie
Rather than starting a new thread, and wasting space, I have decided to use Sheryl’s original thread pertaining to information concerning the Two Towers DVD. It is my hope that people here at PT will use this thread in the upcoming months to post, and share any information they have come across concerning TTT DVD.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had much time to do any sniffing around on this matter lately, but I will share a few things that I believe to be true, and confirmed at this point.

1. –I have heard that the release date for the theatrical version of TTT in America will be June 30th.
2. –I believe it was confirmed that TTT theatrical version wouldn’t be coming out until the first week of August in the UK.
3. –These next two I’m sure of as they came straight from PJ, the extended DVD version of TTT will be a full 30 minutes longer than the theatrical version, and it will be released sometime in November.

Again, if anyone else has information pertaining to this topic, or comes across anything in the upcoming months, please post your goodies here. I know myself, and probably a few others will greatly appreciate your contributions. Thanks!

Isnt the Two Towers still in theaters?

We still have one screen in the county where it is showing twice daily; however a month ago it was still being shown eight time per day in the county. So it has just about run its course in this area.
Hmmm...movies here come and go.I can't remember a movie that was on the big screen for more then 3 weeks.I think TTT is long gone by now and the DVD version is already on here.I wonder if that has something to do with the fact the bulgarians are good crackers Smile Smilie

No, well no where near me. Very Sad Smilie And I wanted to see it again. Sad Smilie
Wow, 43 minutes of extra footage! Can't wait to see all the new scenes with Treebeard! It sounds like the extended DVD edition is definitely going to do alot more justice to the Fangorn scenes,Treebeard's character, and the rest of the Ents. Can it be November now please?

Don't hold your breath Elfstone. Elf With a Big Grin Smilie

For those who haven't heard about the extra 43 minutes, read the PJ news on the home page that I posted yesterday.
Thanks for that post Grondy! Also for anyone who doesn't know, the official announcement has been posted on lordoftherings.net that the theatrical version of TTT will be released on August 26th. As far as content, it looks like they're following the same format as the theatrical version of FOTR, including a special 10-minute behind the scenes preview of ROTK. So it looks like I will have to go back on my word, and purchase the theatrical version of TTT for the ROTK preview, and then dump it when the extended edition comes out!
Elf Winking Smilie
That's what I did, Elfstone, I gave my theatre version of FotR to my grandson when I bought the EE version. I figure to do the same with the next two; the Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.
What I`ll do is probably get the normal edition, wear it out by watching it over and over, then buy the extended edition when it comes out.
Warning: contains TTT Extended edition DVD spoilers!

I just read in USATODAY.com some of the scenes TTT EE DVD. I'm hoping someone will post it at the front page so everybody who wants to know can read.

Some of the scenes include flashback of Boromir when Faramir found him in the boat, Eowyn singing at Theodred's funeral and more of Treebeard, Merry & Pippin. I can't wait! Smile Smilie
I will buy both copy's... give the theatrical one to a friend at church, as I did with the fellowship...

of course I have had TTT for about 5 months so i dont know why i need it again.. but then thats only on the comp and I dont want to sit here to watch it!

I Posted On Jun 13, 2003 a USATODAY.com article about the TTT Extended DVD, but didn't find this new one. If you provide the link, I'll post the article on our home page.

I think the article Naira is referring to is the same one you posted Grondy. The date of her (sorry if I've mistaken your gender Naira) post was 6/13, and me being the info hound that I am, I know there hasn’t been anything new in USA Today pertaining to TTT since the article you posted.
Serching Smilie
Yes, the article I referred to was the same as the one Grondy posted, I mentioned it because when I read the article it hasn't been posted in PT yet.

Hehe, you're right Elfstone, I'm a female. (and proud of it!) Big Smile Smilie
Me being the obsessive-compulsive dude that I am, I felt the need to point out that the article on the home page (from AICN) is specifically about the special extended edition of TTT coming out Nov. 18.

It has nothing to do with the theatrical release DVD of TTT coming out next month. Just wanted to make that clear so no one gets confused, and ends up being disappointed when all the extra footage isn’t on the copy they buy next month.
Happy Elf Smilie
Thanks Elfstone, I had been confused.
No worries Grondy! I just had to throw that out there, just in case some of our younger members got confused. What a list of extras though! I can't wait to see the Huorns, and all of the extra footage with Treebeard, and the Ents! I wish we didn't have to wait until November.
Super Wow Smilie
Hey, the TTT dvd comes out Aug 26 and the extened comes out Nov 18. i am thinking about bying the TTT the first day. Maybe i will by it on the first day, maybe. Irima-arwen
As I just mentioned over in the ROTK trailer thread a minute ago, a few retailers here in the states have already started selling copies of the theatrical TTT DVD. A number of people have already managed to purchase the DVD, and are reporting on the contents of the exclusive SEE TTT DVD preview included on TTT theatrical DVD. I thought I would post a report here by a trusted source that has seen the preview first hand for anyone interested. This information pertains to what is included in the SEE TTT DVD. Thanks to Randy Savage over at CoE for the info!

The preview of the extended version of TTT makes it clear, that it will blow the Theatrical Version out of the water (much more so than the FotR SE did to the TE). At least three of the editions will be epic moments (Theodred’s funeral, the Huorn Attack and the Celebration at Osgiliath), unlike the mostly quieter moments of FOTR SE). The preview got my heart pumping. Bring on November.

The SEE TTT Preview, shot-by-shot:

- Saruman looking through his book, Grima stands in the shadows: “So Gandalf Greyhame thinks he has found Isildur’s heir, the lost king of Gondor. He is a fool.”
- At a camp on the Rohan Plains, Aragorn and Gandalf talk strategy: “Sauron fears what you may become, and so he will strike hard and fast at the world of men. We must trust now in Frodo.”
- Fords of Isen in pouring rain [beautiful shot!], bodies everywhere.
- Sam & Frodo climbing down a huge mountain with the rope. Sam: “Can you see the bottom?” Fro: “No. Aaaarrrggh!!!” He falls into the fog.
- The forest of Fangorn slowly moves down the hillside [looks great!]. Pip: [from TB’s back] “Look the trees, they’re moving!” TB: “They have business with the orcs.”
- Frodo in Henneth Annun: “If something has happened to Boromir, then we would have you tell us.” Faramir: “His horn washed up on the riverbank. It was cloven in two.”
- Faramir wades in Anduin as low-lying elven boat passes by.
- Boromir, in full armor, joyously hugging Faramir. Faramir’s lieutenant stands in the background.
- Frodo looking nervous in Emyn Muil.
- Tearful Eowyn at funeral.
- Aragorn looking happy on plains of Rohan, daytime.
- Aerial shot of a rider (Grima) galloping towards orthanc.
- Grishnak approaches M&P from behind (preview shot). Pip: “They think we have the ring!” Merry: “Shhhh!”
- Taking Ent Draught. Merry: [accusingly] “You’re taller!” Pip: [brushing him off]: “I’ve always been taller than you.” Merry: “[suspicious] You did something.” [quite a comic scene, I am relieved].
- Soldiers of Gondor celebrate in Osgiliath. Boromir gives a smiling Faramir a chalice of beer. “Remember today, little brother. Today, life is good.” Cheers!
- Boromir pulls a peeved-looking Denethor into a side room during the celebration. Boromir: [pleadingly] “He loves you, father.” Denethor: “Do not trouble me with Faramir. I know his uses and they are few.” [Noble does a good job.] Boromir looks upset.
- Gollum, Frodo and Sam wade through water just before entering the sewers. Faramir violently grabs Gollum by the neck and throws him.
- Lots of citizens and royal knights gather as a very dead Theodred is carried to his burial mound.
- Boromir perches on top of a tower in Osgiliath and plants a large white Flag of Gondor. Many hundreds of knights and rangers cheer below him. [pretty epic shot]. Boromir: “This city has been reclaimed for Gondor!” Cheering.
- Gollum cups his face in his hands in Emyn Muil, F&S are in background.
- Frodo looks stressed in Emyn Muil.
- Aragorn and Arwen speak at dawn in Rivendell.
- Eowyn obsessing over Aragorn in the stables.
- Aragorn, the horse whisperer.
- Boromir in boat, quite dead and submerged.
- Boromir setting out for Rivendell on horseback, Faramir looks distressed.
- M&P walking in waste-deep water, picking up floating apples.
- Gimli smoking while sitting on a dead Uruk (we’ve all seen the photo).
- Legolas in armor, on foot, loosing an arrow in daylight. (must have to do with the competition, I bet he shoots the tie-breaking orc).
- Gollum spazzing out in Emyn Muil.
- Brego rearing in the stable.
- Merry getting squeezed in Fangorn.
- Running through the sewers. (they look cool).
- Treebeard bending down to peak into the flooded larder (maybe dropping off M&P).
- Eomer carrying Theodred on horseback.
- Gandalf looks stunned at the arrival of the Huorns.
- Treebeard puts down a sleeping M&P on the forest floor.
- Uruks run into the forest of Huorns.
- Eomer rides in front of Gandalf, Theoden and the Riders of Rohan. Eomer: “Keep away from the trees!”
- Frodo fondles the Ring in the Dead Marshes. Gollum: “Once it takes ahold of us it never lets go.”

The End.

I'm going to go nuts waiting till November! Disturbed Smilie
That's tremendous Elfstone, if PJ puts those scenes in the Extended Edition, almost all will be forgiven as it will plug a lot of the major holes in the theatrical version. Super Wow Smilie

So this fall we have three dates to anticipate and less than a fortnight until the first. Of course all you that visited the theatre unpteen-dozen times or downloaded one of the pirated versions aren't as enthusiastic about getting the theatre version as I am, but I only have seen LotR: TTT once. Jumping Flame Smilie
Only 12 days left!! Big Smile Smilie
Now only 8 days! YAY!!!!!!!! *EXCITED!* Big Smile Smilie
Is it just me or did anyone else not see the Gollum/Smeagol flashback on TTT dvd. I didn't skip it or anything let me know.

I'm actually DYING to get it, since for me it's even harder. I have to have it shipped to me, but it's incredibly hard, since they don't ship it directly from new line cinema shop or anything (I live in Chile) but, as I did with FOTR, I'll wait a little longer and then enjoy having it in my hand Big Smile Smilie
I was all confused bcuz I saw TTT in a store, and thought huh? they're releasing it too early! I thought today was the 23rd or something. Then I looked at the computer time/date screen a few hrs. l8r... Big Laugh Smilie I had no clue it was already out! C ya (and WHY didn't I bring any $$?), i'm off 2 get it!

I may be wrong about this, but I think the Gollum/Smeagol flashback scene is supposed to be in ROTK.

Ross: don't read what I've written below or you'll know I'm a turncoat. Elf With a Big Grin Smilie

So I watched the DVD last night (it is now just past midnight) for the first time since the once last December and after having read all your reviews, kudos, accolades, and bellyaches I have decided I like it even more than the first time I saw it.

Of course one reason for this is my interactive controls enabling me to reduce the background and music volume and then to increase it when the characters were speaking making the movie easier on my ears and my neighbors. In the theatre I was sitting under a speaker and was blown away by the battles and music and I don't mean that in a positive manner.

Gimli didn't seem such a joker nor did Legolas's tricks bother me as much this time and knowing where PJ was leading Faramir didn't upset me; in fact Frodo trying to get rid of the ring by offering it to the Nazgul even made sense. Sam's loyalty then was outstanding and I think that incident is what brought Faramir around to letting them go. I also didn't think Frodo was such a whiner this time through.

The stars of the movie have to be a tie between Smeagol and Gollum with first runner up to Eowyn. Tears again came to my eyes when the Elven Army showed up and I can't wait to see the end of the Battle of Helm's Deep in the Extended version, especially if Gandalf actually brings the Huorns to help because Eomer and Erkenbrand wouldn't have had enough warriors between them to roll up the enemies flank, even with the frontal assault by Theoden's cavalry.

Thumbs Up Smilie Thumbs Up Smilie Thumbs Up Smilie Thumbs Up Smilie Four thumbs-up on this one and I hope to add another after I've seen the extended version.
Haha Ross and Virumor!

I agree with Grondmaster, and like the movie more than in the theaters. And Sméagol / Gollum WOULD have to get 1st prize 4 the star. Tongue Smilie

Sounds like we had similar experiences Grondy. I saw it twice in the theaters (both times in the first week it was out), and I definitely liked it better the second time, even though I still have my gripes. I’m looking forward to seeing it again just cause it's been a while, and I can't wait till November for some fresh meat. I'll probably be picking up my copy tomorrow, and watching it Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night!
Tongue Smilie
I have rented the dvd two times now and I am really excited about the extended version... I was jumping up and down when I saw that some of my favorite parts will be put back into the story.

BTW- how did Peter Jackson explain the victory at Helm's Deep without the Huorns? It seems like it wouldn't add but a few seconds for the "stay away from the trees " segment that will be in the extended version. I would have taken out the Theoden segment (Do you trust your king-- mumbo jumbo)
OMG! I LOOOVE this movie!! I had intended to wait for the extended edition this time but I caved... and I am sooo glad I did. One gripe: I bought the DVD at Wal Mart last week on my way to work. I was running late and in my haste I mistakenly grabbed the fullscreen version... AAARGH! Oh well... the extended version will be widescreen.

So anyhoo, I LOOOVE this movie!! I loved it the... ummm, several times I saw it in the theater. But now I LOOOVE (note the all caps and multiple o's) it.

Even my stepfather liked it... and I thought he was as more a purist than Ross ( Wink Smilie ). But he saw the reasoning behind the changes and realized that, in the grand scope of the story, they're actually quite minor.

That's not to say I'm not thrilled silly about the new scenes in the extended version. The huorns are back!!! Woohoo!
Grumble, mumble, PJ's a Hack, Rubbish Film. Never read the book in his life. Read Grondy's post. Grumble!
I say it again : TTT movie is total rubbish, disgrace to the book, it's a parody. It's the Spinal Tap of fantasy movies. Never this bloody DVD will enter my house or life. I'm still wondering how a person who read JRRT's books can appreciate this movies. They're just downgrading everything JRRT wrote. But oh well, i'll shut up now before everyone disagrees with me again.
