Eru?? I pray to God....Well let`s not make this a religious thread..... Wink Smilie Aule you watch, you`ll hear all the council`s footsteps soon'BOOM...BOOM...BOOM!' they`ll walk in and chuck us out! Be care full what words come out of your mouth!
Aragorn no duh
1st Fave: Frodo (cause he basically saved Middle Earth)
2nd Fave: Legolas
3rd Fave: Aragorn
4th Fave: Sam
5th & 6th Fave: Merry and Pippin
My favorites in the TTT film only... well, that's tough.

-For one, I really like book Théoden, but even though his film portrayal was developed and he had a sense of depth, I just didn't like him as much. So, scratch Théoden.
-Arwen: what else can I say? I liked some of the scenes with her (most notably the one concerning her fate), but the "grace of the Valar" one, along with the flashback to Rivendell before the Fellowship left, seemed to do absolutely nothing except maintain that there was a female love interest for Aragorn without Éowyn taking over and confusing the audience. Scratch Arwen.
-Gríma: well, I liked his characterization and couldn't really find much wrong. Even if you ignore that the palantír scene is missing, well, that doesn't really show much of his character anyway. So, I guess I like Gríma.
-Frodo & Sam: well, they're my fav. characters (or some of), but TTT seemed to be more Aragorn-centered than Frodo-centered (FotR), and we didn't get to see as much of his character as I'd liked. Still, I'd say Frodo.
-Gollum: Enough said.
OOOOOOOOO! I would have to say Aragorn i every movie because he is soooo HOT! but putting that aside i think gollum is my fav in TTT. It is so amazing he is CG! Also he is so cute..uh u know what i mean. U just have to feel bad for him. But in the ROTK i hate him. in the TTT he is also funny in a gollum sort of way Cat Smilie
Well, Frodo, since we're talking LotR here... Otherwise, I should say Feanor is by far my favourite Tolkien character!!! *runs and hides before he can be linched by the angry I-hate-that-blood-thirsty-murderer-mob*
ARAGORN!! Yes he is da bomb! *laughs* Yea i like aragorn the best but i like merry and pippin too, because they are so funny!!
My favurite characters are Aragorn and then Faramir i love Viggo Mortensen and David Wenham who play them Smile Smilie
Well, it depends. The movies or the books.

The movies: Well, I don't like Faramir in the movie. Nor Denethor. Nor Aragorn. Nor Frodo. I think faramir is obvious. And Denethor too. Well, ARagorn is pretty good, but all that Eowyn - Arwen thingy. EEEWWWWW. Frodo? Too much of that "Ooh, I'll put on a weird face and look possessed" type thing. I choose Sam.

The books: Sam as well! I loved how he fought Shelob. It was SOOO cool.

Well, I'd better start running too, cause although he's not my favouritest favourite, he's my second favourite!!!!

Quickly... join me, Loni; let's run together! *they talk about Feanor while getting away from the furious mob*
let's see....TTT movie: Legolas is just one cool elf in that film, PJ did a good job on that one.
favorite character in all LOTR : hmm....probably gandalf, no need for explanation
favorite character in all of ea: for some reason, i've always found radagast to be a pretty awesome character, going to live in the forest with animals and just take it easy - sounds like the place to be!
In FOTR, my fav is Gandalf. In TTT, it is Gollum. In ROTK, it's Sam.

Overall my favorite is Sam, because he is the true hero of the story.
Ill'd say my fav would be Olorín (Gandalf) in the books and PJ's movies, because i think hes so wise ans true , and i wonder about the 5 istari alot (gets me thinking).

this is my first post so hi to all the tolkien fans out there Elf Smilie

Old Tom B. is my favourite.

Either that or Master Samwise. I also like Quickbeam a lot because he's the "hasty" young rogue ent.
Ho! Tom Bombadil, Tom Bombadillo!
Hop along, come now! Forget Old Man Willow!
Laurelindhe Ilmarin sings on the hill-o!
But hurry along Tom! It's time for my pillow!
I'm not sure the noise I make is actually called singing, but thank you. Smile Smilie

I think that Tom's abscence in FOTR(movie) was a dumb mistake on the part of the evil film-makers, because since they were entirely interested in "pumping up the audience" with action scenes(mostly to keep the attention of those who are unaware that there are books of LOTR!), you would think that Tom's oddity and curiousness, etc., would have lent itself very well as a nice plot twist, in addition to his heroics rescuing the poor little hobbits from both Old Man Willow(also good action) and the Barrow-wight(fantastic, scary action, overlooked), etc. and so forth...blah blah blah...

Wary Smilie
Laurelindhe, I also missed Bombadil in the movie, but I think I understand why he is absent. First, to the moviegoer who had not read the books, his in and out presence would most likely have confused them. Tolkien himself, in letters and conversations, admitted that he only included Bombadil in the books because he had already invented him, and critics have panned the inclusion as confusing and useless. I disagree, but they don't listen to me anyway.
I've got many favourites, I can't quite say who I like best. I think it's Gollum, I really feel sorry for this poor little creature.

And the others:
elves: Galadriel & Celeborn
hobbits: Sam, Merry & Pippin (the two of them mainly in the movies, they're incredibly funny, and they somehow grow up during their journey which I like very much)
evil ones: the ringwraiths - they're really cool, Sauron and the Ring, of course
