I can sort of agree with you. But I can`t really decide. Eowyn does seem more his type, because she`s a human. Arwen doesn`t because she`s an Elf.

But Aragorn is in love with Arwen, so that is who he should be with.
Eowyn is only infatuated with Aragorn, because she thinks that he can save her from her 'prison' in Edoras.
PJ is usuing the same device as Tolkien (he did learn something after all
) The audience is supposed to feel more for Eowyn and like her better than the distant Arwen. It makes the romantic side of ROTK more of a surprise.

The very first time I read LotR I was thinking maybe Aragorn would be better off with Eowyn, because at first Eowyn's character is easier to identify with. But by the time I finished the book I realised there was far more to Arwen and her and Aragorn's love than what might first be seen. Aragorn surpasses other Men in many areas: his life span is far greater and he has experienced and learned a lot, also he grew up in the house of Elrond and is Elven wise. In this way he is fit for an elven princess and Eowyn is better off with a normal/regular guy.

If you skip the story of Arwen and Aragorn in Appendix A of RotK you wouldn't have much to base her character on. I'm glad PJ saw fit to make use of it; this shows another reason to continue reading in the book after Sam says he's back.
I think Aragorn should be with ARwen because he doesn't *deserve* Eowyn!! Faramir is perfect balance for Eowyn - and he is wise enough to not keep her in a birdcage...

No if, ands, or buts about it, most definitely Arwen!
Arwen is sacrificing her immortality, giving her very life to Aragorn. What can be more profound than that?

guys, i think there is no comparisson,, because even though eowyn could be nice and brave...., she is not an elf,and as prog said,after all she give up immortality for strider.
and we are forgeting that aragorn has been fighting for her since he was just a youngster,because elrond required him to be a
king before he could even think on her....
and not to forget that in lothlorien she gave him the promisse that she would love him more than the dream of valinor....and to say that is really something!!!!...
i think he has never doubted....,because after all...., that is why he is fighting for,it is his reward,the most beloved prize...., his beloved one....ERU SAVE THE QUEEN!!!

I feel bad if my girlfriend even buys me lunch. If she gave up immortality for me, I'd have to do a runner.
If I was Aragorn, I'd have to let Arwen go to Valinor, even if I had to drug her and chain her to the boat. I'd then let Eowyn do her best to help me forget things until she discovered Faramir.

Despite the fact that I can't stand the appearance of Arwen in TTT (I found it disruptive), I drooled big time when she appeared in FOTR (the scene at the ford)... Just based on that alone I think Aragorn should be with Arwen.... hehehe...
Seriously I think Eowyn is a bad choice. She doesn't really love Aragorn, she simply admires and in a way worships him as a hero. So it's very much an infatuation and it's much like chasing after a movie or pop star. Wouldn't last.

Well, if i was the movie Aragorn i would certainly choose Éowyn, especially since i kinda dumped Arwen in the movies and thinking she's leaving for the Grey Havens with her people and of course because Éowyn is beautiful, brave and fights like a man (what more do u want??)
If i was the Aragorn of the books, i wouldn't have to make a choice between them, 'cause i'd already be betrothed to Arwen for 39 years (and Arwen is of course the likeness of Lùthien-- beat that, Éowyn !)

well, i 'll choose arwen to be with aragorn. aragorn is a valiant man, and he need a woman comfort to calm his nerves. and arwen suited the best.

He is supposed to be with arwen it is all a matter of history. the book is a fairy tale, therefore everything that happens has a meaning, it is not like real life. He was in love with her, his love brought him to find a new courage which will help him to become king, which was the only way for him to get to marry Arwen. At the same time, this is the story that repeats itself, the old fairy tale of the forbidden love. Like The Lady Of Luthien and Beren.
Well, I think Aragorn should have Arwen. Even though really like Éowyn, they're just not destined to be together. Aragorn and Arwen are. Éowyn are destined to be with Faramir.

It is real life!
I think Arwen and Aragorn and not just because I'm a purist who think's that everything should stick to the words written on the pages (well apart from all the typo's that are strewn across my reading copy. Yes I have multiple copies as well as personalities.), but because they have a true love that runs out of the physical thing that you all seem to be picking up on.
I did sort of get the feeling that they were origonally betrothed just to strengthen the Numenorian bloodline!
