It was just another Orc with a similar -ugly- face i thought.
It could be but they were a bit too similar.
I saw it too. They were a bit to similar I think. That orc was killed and than he hunts them down in the forest!
Yeah, that was weird, he got a spear in his back and fell down and then he is up and chasing Merry and Pippen, they looked exactly the same.
They were two different Orcs, it's just that in a money saving effort, there were many identical Orc costumes and masks and PJ just forgot to ensure these to Orcs weren't wearing identical masks.

Also these scenes may not have been shot on the same day, and PJ may not have been onsite during the takes. I believe he was using three separate camera crews and subdirectors, but I may be wrong.
Told you all he was a rubbish director
They did look alike to me.......
Maybe they were 2 different orcs...... I really wouldn't know...... i don't look at them that much, i care more about men. hehehehehe
I'm with Grondy on this one...or am I? Gotta go home and check.

The orc was indeed injured but he survived...remember when Gimley tasted a drop of blood from a leaf in the forest well that was the orc's blood...

Remember now that Treebeard squished him when he stepped on him.
I really checked this out when at the Movies for #3 viewing. There are two lead Orks. The first Ork has an unusual voice - high and sort of squeaky. He's the one that initially makes comment that Pippin and Merry are food and they could just eat their legs. The other Ork who is bigger and louder steps up and also demands food, then a rabble of them make for the Hobbits. The leader strikes out and beheads one of the crowd and says it looks like meat is on the menu. They all fall on the victim. Pippin and Merry decide to make a bid for freedom to the forest and start to crawl away. The second bigger Ork sees them and cuts them off. It is then that the Rohan horsemen arrive and this Ork is speared. Pippin and Merry make it to the forest and are pursued by the first squeaky voiced Ork.

I paid close attention and I'm pretty sure this is right.

Hahaha you just read my mind Elda! I read through this thread and then I thought: Canīt this people think rationally? I mean he got speared, YES. But he was only injured...You see him after he got speared grabbing Pippins(or Merrys canīt remember) belt.....He was still breathing wouldnīt you all say????? hahahaha
Ah but being a purist and therefore knowing this shouldn't happen I took this oppertunity to insult and flay the name of Peter Jackson.
I only just watched the movie again since reading this thread. No doubt- it IS the same orc. You can see clearly that he is not dead when he falls off of the hobbits. He's in pain but there is nothing to indicate that it's a mortal wound.
anthoner P.J.'s mistake
Is it just me or did that orc have a real south london sort of accent.

And i know this off topic, but seeing as this thread is, well,

Remember when the easterlings were marching into the black gate? Im sorry but those 2 easterling goons are blind....magic elf cloak or not. Smoke Smilie

Hahahaha yes he did have a british accent!
In the extended version they'll stop of at Sauron's pie and mash shop.
Ahh yes, the magic elf cloaks..
1. They look worn and woolly, doesn't look elven at all.
2. They hardly cover one hobbits body, but it suddenly gets huuge.
3. It also travels through Frodos back-pack while turning into look-alike-stone and then is under the backpack again. (Celebrian told me that) Magic..

Actually scenes like this just makes me smile. Poor PJ, he tries so hard, but we are never happy no matter what. It's easy to complain, I really don't know what fabric I would have chosen for an elven cloak. I am glad PJ put the cloaks in the movie, got disapointed when it wasn't mentioned in FOTR.
Oh one more thing, Shadowfax cheeks were a little chubby for my tastes.
