Elvish is the only language besides English that should be used on our Website and the only insults that might slip through are friendly ones where it is obvious to all readers that they are said in jest.

What's it say, what's it say, go on tell me please, you never get to learn the swear words and stuff in language lesson's I do know a few russian swear words, lots of welsh, french and english ones!

It's something like "All the rest of you are l°kskaller!" I could not find the word l°kskaller in any online Norwegian resources... not even slang dictionaries.

This one has me totally stumped.

Something like "I don't believe which the mio(?) might be better/larger."

Languages are tricky Very Mad Smilie

Anyway, the point is, take Grondy's advice to heart: don't say anything you wouldn't say in English because the translation may be forthcoming and it may not sound like what you intended in English Big Laugh Smilie

Now, Lurtz... all the rest of us are what ? Wink Smilie
Yeh go on tell us Big Smile Smilie , I might get to learn a Norwegian insult!
Thanks For that Prog, I gathered the other's weren't insults, but it's nice to know anyhow.
Hey I didn't say I've failed english, what I said is that I have much more to learn...
And "No creo que el mio sea mejor" means "I don't think mine is better".
:sad Sorry, i didn`t mean it!
Please forgive me! (Dere er OK)

Welcome to the Planet Tolkien forums, IdrilCelebrindal! Big Smile Smilie

Namo and Ishayala, my sincerest apologies for the mistranslation! I used this online translator:

http://www.tranexp.com:2000/

obviously it works okay for Norwegian but not quite as well for Spanish Big Laugh Smilie

Lurtz, speaking for myself, no hard feelings. An insult is an insult in any language but I've been called worse than an onionhead before. Just don't let it be said that Tolkien fans are not resourceful people Wink Smilie

Hello IdrilCelebrindal and welcome to Planet Tolkien. Nice job with the translation. Wink Smilie

Jajajaja, I've just read what you wrote on page four. But you were born in Venezuela right. Ever been to Chile? It looks like you travel a lot.

No I┤ve never been to Chile, but I would like to do it.... Wink Smilie Actually I was born in Germany but we moved to Venezuela when I was 4 years old.
Mhh, I'm sure you'll like Chile, it is very nice if you like nature, we have almost all the climates, you can go south and be cold as the artic, or go north and be as hot as the tropic, huge waterfalls and volcanoes, the dryest desert in the world, something like a hundred lakes and lagoons, sky centers, national parks, rainy forests... and so on, and so on, and so on...

Was there anyone besides the boys in my fourth grade class, when we were studying Iceland ever so long ago, that called Reykjavik, the capitol and largest city of your fair island: "Rake-your-beak"? Or were we the only ones who stooped to such silliness? Elf With a Big Grin Smilie

I am from AMERICA!!! Texas to be more exact! And NO we do not all wear big cowboy hats or boots! Just for the recoed: I've never owned either! Big Smile Smilie
Hi all,
I am pretty new to the forum, but here are lots of good topics here so I have had no trouble.
I am from the United States of America; Florida, to be exact. Just so you all know, since the U.S.A. is west of England, then technically it would have to be Valinor! Cause it lies west of Middle-Earth, right? Just thought I would throw that out there!
Yes but I don't trust all theese new fangled maps, so the USA is east along the silk road to me!

No, we don't all wear big cowboy hats or boots. I do have to admitt that when I was about 4 or 5 I owned both, but that was because my grandmother bought them for me (in Olkahoma) I hated both and especially the boots because they were boys boots and grey and black. When I found out that they were made of real snake skin, I cried for a month and refused to ever look at them again, much less wear them.

So, where in Texas are you? If you don't mind my asking. I am in Dallas. (At least Dallas County.) I actully live in a small town just outside of Dallas.

Welcome to the forums everyone, I have been rather lax in that area lately. Sorry. Nice to see so many new people here.
Please don't be offended by my scouse olympic joke, I'm not a Manc I'm from Lancashire!
I┤m from ReykjavÝk; Iceland Snowman Smilie

Up North on the East side of the country, more or less between the Rivers Humber and Tees.
No, not Yorkshire there rubbish there, they all say Frowt Jowce instead of fruit juice, come to Lancashire it's much better! We won the war of the Roses, hahh ahahahhahaahha, huchccchhuh, sorry about that slipt into the old Lancashire/Yorkshire rivarly, but were both united against southerners, I'll show you it's grim up north you soft southern shandy drinking girls, Poo I'm doing it again. Sorry!
Hi Gandalf.

On the opening page of this thread you left a post in which you wanted notifying of any replies. I have edited your post to untick that box. I haven't gone through the whole thread to see if you have done this more than once, but if the notifications do not stop, go back through the thread and search out your past posts. It may be one of these may be asking for notifications of replies too.

If this is the case, click edit post, which will then allow you to unclick the relevent box.

Hope this is of some help Smile Smilie
Hello again Gandalf.

Nope and I'm not sure if I would like it. In the Ivy Bush Tavern we have continuing puzzle games where the poser needs to know when replies come in that require his input. If you had to ask each time you posted you might forget and not remember to look again while everybody else is sittting around twiddling their thumbs. Other than that, you idea doesn't sound that bad. Maybe we could have both. Is this something for Taz to considering encorporating into our next reincarnation?

I guess the question is, does one take the responsability for one's actions or does one rely on society to take it from them. Elf Confused Smilie

It sure is! Apparantly this board works different from what I am used to, on other boards you subscribe once and stay subscribed (even if "receive notification" is not checked) until you specifically click a link "unsubscribe".

Ah well, you can't win 'em all Smile Smilie I can't remember seeing this in the help though, maybe I overlooked it...

Cheers,
Gandalf.
I live in America (Connecticut to be exact). Its all hilly here; we've got some farms, and forests. Basically, my own personal Shire. (The forests have little brooks too, and look mostly like the forest in the FotR movie where Gandalf warns Frodo and Sam that the Enemy has many spies. It also resembles the forest near Amon Hen where Boromir dies in the movie.) Also, my small town is currently trying to oppose the introduction of big companies into our town; we want to keep to ourselves and be a pseudo-Hobbiton, thank you very much. Big Smile Smilie
i live in Belgium,near brussels

Naw, that doesn't describe our Stoney, he wears a 'coonskin cap just like that fellar Daisy Sprocket, Daily Crocker, you know who I mean. Him what was born on a mountain top, fought for Andy Jackson, went to Congress, and retired to the quiet life at Mission Alamo.

Okay, I really do know his name and he was played by Fess Parker in all the Disney TV shows and movies that were titled Davy Crockett and the ...

Oh, and I think he was really born in Kentucky rather than Tennesee.
