For instance "cot" and "caught" are pronounced the same in some areas, whereas the vowel's sound should come from the back of the tongue with the former and the middle to front with the latter. I sometimes think.

Please spare us the anatomical knowledge, Grondy. We are fine where we are. Oh! Why oh why did I ask that question? Shaking Head Smilie

I'd try to tell you, but as I suspect your question is rhetorical, I'll spare us the bother of an answer. Elf With a Big Grin Smilie
So, does anyone know how to correctly pronounce "smorgasbord" ? Very Big Grin Smilie

Almost certainly.

(That was an answer not an attempt at pronunciation.)

But Ford is a car company!
And ford is also a shallow area of a river where one may cross, while keeping one's neck dry. While a fjord is a very steep river valley that, as the glaciers melted and the oceans rose at the end of the last ice age, filled with seawater and is now much too wet to drive a Ford across.

Yes, that's why Barfagorn says "Drive hard, don't look back" to Arwen, no ?

Well, she could always have used the rear-view mirror.
Had she used the rear-view mirror, she would most certainly have driven in to a tree, or at a minimum, missed a gate requiring a double-back to pick it up, as she slalomed through the woods on her way down to the finish line. Elf With a Big Grin Smilie
