Come on Rhodo you're only about 26 aren't you? The reason you haven't heard of them is because you have a cr@p filter on your radio!

lol, yeah right Ross! Noone is perfect which means that youre not either which also means that noone can always be right even if theyre wrong. (ok, now Im upset so everything I say comes out understanable) Tongue Smilie Wink Smilie

Aw Rhodry, believe me you're not missing much, the old stuff is the best anyways(most of it that is). Big Smile Smilie
Ross,28 is Rhodry's exact age,not 26.
Though I like music that sounds good to my years and thus I can't say I have a favourite type of music, I still think QUEEN rocks!!!

P.S.: As for Evanescence and Avril Lavigne, I like them a lot! Probably just the mood I'm in, who knows?
I remember when I first heard Bring Me To Life by Evanescence I liked it. Kind of reminded me a little of Lacuna Coil. But then of course every time I turned on the radio they were playing it, over and over, on 9 out of 10 stations(there should be laws for this sort of thing). Now I heave every time I hear that song... it's like ipecac.

Avril Levigne's music is a tad too fruit-flavored for my tastes but I do give her more credit than most other teeny poppers (sic) because she actually WRITES her songs. She's no Traci Chapman or Tori Amos, but she's got one up on Britney Spears.

I agree with you, bugyfeanor. Queen was great.

well, I can also agree with most of you guys that Avril Lavigne is not great! far from it!

I only like some old songs from artist like Queen and such...not many though...
The artists Ive started listening to most recently is The Pillows (kinda wierd and theyre ok), Daft Punk (which are also just ok) but one group that I love at the moment (not counting Eva, Rammstein and Linkin Park) is Prodigy they are absolutly great!
Daft Punk are one of the greatest French electro bands.
lol, Im sure they are..I havnt heard many french electro bands play..not that I know of atleast. Tongue Smilie
There's Lith, Bip-hop and Fin de Siecle to name but a few. Now I'm not saying that these are good but they are electro. Wink Smilie
lol, ok then Ross...could you tell me some good electro bands? they dont have to be french Wink Smilie Tongue Smilie
Depeche Mode and New Order are my personal favourites. I recomend New Order's Technique, my favourite albulm of all time.
French? Electro? Air dagnammit, Air, fantastic stuff.
Oh, and not french, Kraftwerk and Faust, the originators and instigators, and the Residents, who inspired all the rest, and of course, the White Noise, who started it all.
Thanx both Ross and Plastic! Ill listen to some songs by all the bands you recomended and then Ill post to say what I think about them... Big Smile Smilie

There they go again, corrupting our young ones with their noisy excuse for music! Orc Grinning Smilie
Noise, noise he says, the man who listens to Vivaldi! Tongue Smilie
So? I listen to Vivaldi too Ross, that doesn't stoip me from listening to other stuff as well Wink Smilie
OMG, how could have I forgotten Depeche Mode and Prodigy? Their music is just GREAT! *listening to 'Dream On': "Can u feel a little love?"

Namarie!
Depeche Mode suck. Prodigy are great, if you like them you should check out The Crystal Method, they're the same but better.

On the same subject I also love Leftfield, Layo & Bushwacka, Fischerspooner, Peace Orchestra, Ryksopp, Massive Attack and Grooverider.
I havn't heard of any of those bands,Pere. Sad Smilie
My favorite band is Skillet their new album Collide is out on the 18th!!! They have great stuff!!!

They're not really all that bad, I just don't really like their style, that's all.

So by your definition Crystal Method suck as well. Depeche Mode are one of the greatest bands of all time. Plastic recomended Kraftwerk these are another great band.
I should get all my Joy Division and New Order sleaves back soon, they are being signed by Bernard Sumner. Woo hoo my albums are going to rule!

I'm 100% with u on that, Ross! Their style is unique! Actually, I can say the same about Prodigy: they revolutioned music when they first appeared!

Come on Squirrely i know you must have heard of them :P
*Raises hand*
I know them Gimli. Not much ,but i have listened to Sugar Plum Fairy performed by them. Makes you get high. Smile Smilie
Does anybody here like the Rolling Stones from the 1960's/1970's? Their songs are really awesome!
Yeh, particularly that early stuff, Magician. They've some real classics to their name.
Classics? If it's classics, aren't we forgetting the good old beatles and the beegees?

You know the words...
We All live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine...

(Personally i prefer the yellow padded room)
My dad has a ton of old music like that so I guess i got my music preferences from him...

My favorite Rolling Stones songs are Play With Fire, Satisfaction, and Paint it Black.
My brother has been listening to 'Queen' religously, they're OK, but with most music if you hear it too much it becomes a headache.
I love several of The Beatle's songs.. John Lennon was good by himself, and so was Paul MCartney but when the whole band was together their sound was great.
I've found an interest in 'Guns `N Roses' but haven't had the chance to buy one of their CDs yet. Same with Velvet Revolver, not sure if they are any good (the lead singer sure is hansome, though...Wink Smilie)
Currently listening to an older song -such an earworm- that goes like "Hang on Slupy.."
Going to be singing this one allll night...Wiggle Smilie Wiggle Smilie
I could go on forever with this list, so I'll limit myself. If I had to listen to only ten musicians/bands for the rest of my life, they would be: Pink Floyd, Air, Miles Davis, Beatles, Grateful Dead, Nick Drake, Tortoise, Bob Dylan, Galactic, and Jamiroquai. Man - that was tough.
Well, my ten fave musicians/bands which I'd listen for the rest of my life would be: Queen, Depeche Mode, Nightwish, Apocalyptica, Blind Guardian, Rammstein, Enya, Pink Floyd, Sting and Phoenix. (the last is a Romanian band, so I don't think anybody here have ever heard of it)

Good thing I don't have to choose, cause there would be so many more musicians/bands whom I like... it would be awful not listening to them anymore!
I just received Issue #233 of LOADSTAR (the monthly disk magazine for the Commodore 64) and see that some of my music was published on it , specifically: my renditions of Into the West (flute, harpsichord, and cello); In the Willow-Meads of Tasarinan (woodwinds); Vivaldi's Guitar Concerto in D Major, RV 93 (guitar and strings); and Domenico Scarlatti's Sonata in D Major, K491 (harpsichord). Oh, and this is in 6-voice stereo rather than the normal 3-voice monural played on your stock C=64.
So, grondy, when does the world tour start?

Fantastic! congrats! Well done!

No tour planned Vee Elf With a Big Grin Smilie I have converted a few of them to MP3s for playback on the PC, but the size of the files become too large to email. While the size of Commodore versions for PC playback via VICE or Sidplay/2w uses about one-tenth the memory of the MP3 version, you still have to have the software programs to play them.
Beethoven eh..... Have you seen Clockwork Orange? Wink Smilie
As to the Beatles, highly overrated, a lot like Queen, but I've said all this before.
Overrated?! They completely changed rock'n roll. Tsk, tsk.
Here, here, Eruwen! And you cannot deny the melodic genius of Paul McCartney and the lyrical superiority of John Lennon-not to mention the Great George Harrison and Sir Ringo-that is why their music endures for as long as it does, and also why there has never been another Beatles-we completely owe modern rock-n-roll to first Chuck Berry, then Elvis Presley, then the Beatles, with the latter having the most influence. But even if you believe they are overrated, their existence has seeped into the very fabric of pop culture and modern society, so no matter how much you try, You can't escape them! Mwahahahahaha!!

Watch me. Beatles just ripped off buddy Holly anyway, and then a bunch of other guys later on. Stealing the credit for others innovations, goits...
Next you'll be saying that The Lord of the Rings is fiction.
Excuse me; what is The Lord of the Rings?

I'm sorry, but Sgt. Pepper's is pure original genius...as is the White Album.
You have just seen how The Great Plastic One gets a discussion going. Elk Grinning Smilie
Yes, but tis weird that this technique he uses doesn't work when i try it with the LOTR movies.

Oh, I figured he's just trying to get us riled up...just as you do Virumor. Wink Smilie It does get conversations going, but sometimes...just sometimes..don't you think it trivializes the entire concept by actually knowing what the other person is trying to accomplish with their riling (is that a word?)?
