Okay, as many of you know by now I have a real hard time cutting it down to 1 band, but as many of you also know, I always cut it down to the Residents, an avant-garde group from San Francisco who's career is as shrouded in mystery as some of their strange music.

Nobody knows their true identities, and hardly anyone I know has even heard of them. But they are credited with inventing the Music video (their 3rd Reich and Roll video predates any other creation in this media, and is preserved in the New York Museum of Modern Art, as are their One minute Movies) Punk Music and most of the techniques for multi-tracking, Midi, and any other technology you can find. Roland have even given them credit for their innovative use of the legendary Emulator.

I saw them live last week, and it has to be said that even after 30 years, they are still pushing the boundaries and creating music unlike anything that has gone before (a hard job in these modern times).

Anyone wishing to learn more, go to http://www.theresidents.co.uk and if you fancy getting into them, there is a nice ear-friendly compilation album called "Petting Zoo" which eases you gently in, rather than going straight to albums like "eskimo" which while fantastic, are gonna throw you in at the deep end, and confuse you.
Wahey I actually got a response, I'm not sure about the website sorry, but you will know Blue Monday, it used ot be used on the American express album and Kylie did a remix of can't get you out of my head to it's music. I have heard of a german band called Pur but thats it sorry, Coldplay are cool, Everclear are a favourite band of my best mate. Nelly with his plaster for his jailed friend and I somehow knew that would be PLastic's response!
I think I'll just show my age and say mine's Pink Floyd because they've been my favourite band for 25 years and I'm still not fed up with them. Unlike any other band, my ears still prick up if I hear their name mentioned anywhere.
Hey I listen to Pink Floyd, I want to go to a concert and get a giant inflatible Boar dropped on me!
My favorite band fluctuates between

The Dead, previously known as The other ones, previously known as the Grateful Dead (they keep changing their name in the absence of Jerry)

PHISH

And Led Zeppelin

Curently being the latter...

Rammstien our a fantastic band check them out
My favorite band is Yes! Quite simply they are the band that bridged two very important things to me, things that I never could reconcile...rock and roll, and God.

I grew up in a very torn world. My family included a lot of folks who are musically inclined so there was always music in our house...and I learned about ROCK AND ROLL at a young enough age from my then-hippie cousins and the naughty kids nextdoor and I LOVED IT. At the same time my mother and aunt wanted me raised "right" according to a fundamentalist Christian perspective so I was told early on the typical things that these people sometimes think which is that secular rock music is often a very evil thing. I struggled with this my whole growing up and wanted to have both but got the very distinct impression that to be a Christian I had to give up the rock and roll. There are some fine Christian musicians out there but I knew they were no substitute for the music I already loved from bands that were big in the 70's.
The struggle continued as I grew older and not only about music but other things...into a general tug of war with me between things of God and things of the world. I can laugh about it now because it really does seem silly but at the time, I was dealing with matters of my soul and it was very serious to a very confused younger me.

The time came for me to start making my own choices. I went to college and a friend I made was BIG into Yes. At that time, I knew little of their music and had never really given it a chance, much like my recent experience with Tolkien, I thought it was was too complicated to tackle and understand. I had heard of some of Yes' songs and really enjoyed Leave It from their recent album 90125. But he was so into them that I wanted to learn more and borrowed and copied a cassette of Fragile and Classic Yes. (Remember dubbing? I had one album on one side and one on the other of a 90 minute tape!)

That's when I heard Heart of the Sunrise, probably for the first time. It was such a "BIG" song. So dramatic and theatrical and majestic. And the rest of this music was so complex that it kept me listening for something new with each experience. It became like taffy for my brain. Something I didn't think I needed but it was chewy and gave me something to work on in my head. I started to consider myself a new fan. So I started collecting more of their music.

As many of you know Yes is known for their changes in lineup. The same band has had some 15 different members come and go and still manage to have a core sound that defines them, even if the different people add different things. At the time when I started collecting Yes music, four of the founding members of the band were working on an album and (for legal reasons) could not use the name Yes. The album was named after the four members who worked on the album, Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe. I bought it. I listened to it. And I remember the first time I heard this music, a song called "The Meeting" in particular, I thought "THIS is what the music must be like in Heaven." It was worthy of being played by angels and I was sure God was pleased with it. And it changed the way I felt about having to keep rock and roll my dirty little secret. From then on, I didn't care who was playing a certain song or what their reputation was, I listened with the freedom of a Christian who was no longer threatened by the music I loved...and I found that much of what comes out the music I loved all my life is equally beautiful from both a moral and musical perspective.

After that, I started to really research the band and had experiences with Yes' music as I collected more, that has often brought me to my knees or tears or both. The lyrics are such that, like Tolkien, if you have a religious background, you can draw a parallel but if you don't, you wouldn't have to see anything like that to enjoy it. I have also become familiar with many of the solo works of members of the band, whose individual efforts have been beautiful in their own right and helped me to understand them more as a band. I particularly love Jon Anderson's solo music and collaborations with other artists but I also have enjoyed Rick Wakeman, Chris Squire, and Steve Howe on their own.

I suppose there are plenty of other people out there who just love Yes music for equally important reasons, I don't presume to know them. But even backing away from my own personal experience, I can see other things about Yes that are attractive to me and perhaps other people. Each person who ever played for the band is a virtuoso on his instrument and pushes the limits with it. Each member is a good collaborator with his bandmates and other artists. Each member has contributed a fair share of lyrics that continue to amaze me every time I listen to them. And since the band is so free with its comings and goings, supportive of each others' individual creativity, the members are free to explore other things and then bring something back to the band as a whole.

So it's been a long fight for me. I have come around into a person who knows that God blesses all kinds of beauty. Music has always been my thing, and I came to the conclusion that music is a place where God and I can go to meet with each other...with me learning what I am supposed to be and being encouraged in faith and other matters of the heart. This has been a major revelation for me, that I can come to God as just plain old human me and that God can reach me from wherever I happen to be. I believe that makes my life better...and that is why I call myself musicimprovedme. And Yes is largely responsible for me realizing it.

Here are a few Yes lyrics that I want to share with you that made such a huge difference in my life. I hope you will take the time to listen to them if you haven't heard them before. The God factor? I suppose you can take it or leave it. That's just why they are my favorite band. Any way you slice it, they are awesome.

I Would Have Waited Forever
Anderson/Howe/Elias

Quote:
I would have waited forever - For you to return into my life
I would have waited forever - I would have given you everything I had
I would have waited forever - There's no question, no question at all

So true in the prize, would you wait for me?
All because you got burned, so you took what you needed.
Some will always turn away, say it's reason enough;
It's another game of exploration.
Something calls at reverse and it comes to you;
Experience everything as it comes true.

So - It will be then
Change - It will happen
See - That we feel it
All - Is completed.

Don't you want the world to stop short of giving?
Anytime of night or day, the magic things you love.
Everybody hurts when you shout, when you walk away;
Talk about it according to you.

I would have waited forever - For you to return into my life
I would have waited forever - To give you everything I had
I would have waited forever - There's no question about it at all

So inbetween the perfect flame of you, this love will never let you down.
Just take it as it comes, for everything will come around.

You put your hand up: stop the flow of where you're going to;
It's another game called exploration.
How we imagine everything that we think we're going through;
It's another reason to make the break.
Everyone will move with you now to the riverside;
Experience everything, but go with the landslide.

I would have waited forever - For you to return into my life
I would have waited forever - To give you everything I had
I would have waited forever - No question in my body and soul
Forever...

Lift Me Up(3)
Rabin/Squire

Quote:
Look around - Got no place to stay.
God I hate this town, depending on the day.
You lift me up, you lift me down - Alright, OK.

While I got no life, I got no hope;
I'm falling in love.
Help me through the fight;
Help me with tonight - I'm calling.

What to do I find it hard to know;
Lord, the walk is not the one I chose...

Lift me up and turn me over;
Lead me on into the dawn.
Take me to the highest mountain;
Tie me up, love in a storm.
Have you decided on my fortune?
Facing the future in your eyes,
With your imperial behaviour
We fight amidst the battle cries.

Open doors - They may be closed to me;
The fire's still burning in my heart...

What to do I find it hard to know;
I want to turn my life around...

From The Ladder

It Will Be A Good Day (The River)
Anderson/Squire/Howe/White/Sherwood/Khoroshev

Quote:
Golden forest golden lake
Sanctuary, state of grace
I will find reason a place to begin
It will be a good day

Beginning is one place I've been before
Watching the sunrise on the silver shores
Setting me free again leading the way
It will be a good day

Sometimes I forget
How mighty this earth
Astounding winter skies
Truth is in birth
Peace that it brings to me, my naked eyes
Be a good day

Make me believe again
Making me free again
Making me see again

Golden mountains golden seas
A thousand reasons singing to me
Alive to this postBody
Realising it all
Be a good day

Learning to listen learning to see
Learning is power making me free
Free to believe again in my human side
Giving me good reason
Giving me good reason

(Come tomorrow)
Make me believe again
(Destiny)
(Take the river)
Making me free again
(To the sea)

(Come tomorrow)
Making me see again
(Will be free)

Like a river

Time feels so much closer now
You are with me, so real

We make our own heaven
Clear through the sky
The making of reason for you and I
I sing of each season
Making us feel
This will be a good day
This will be a good day

(Come tomorrow)
Make me believe again
(Destiny)

(Take the river)
Making me free again
(To the sea)
(Come tomorrow)
Making me see again
(Destiny)
Like a river to the sea

Make me believe again
Making me free again
(Come tomorrow)
Making me see again
(Destiny)

(Take the river)
Making me free again
(To the sea)

(Come tomorrow)
Making me see again
(Take the river)
(Come tomorrow)
(Destiny)
(Take the river)
(To the sea)

Face To Face
Anderson/Squire/Howe/White/Sherwood/Khoroshev

Quote:
Here we are trying to mend all the broken hearts
In a world where the pain is the fear
Ain't no doubt there's a method to madness here
Set your clock to the start of a brand new year

Shine your heart to the universe and get the news
Not alone never have been, never will be
See the truth, not to mention the promise made
See them all, see them all high on judar rhythm

We began at the very first spring
How the promise will come when the promise is made
We will sing at the very first spring
That the promise will come when the promise is made
Promise is made, promise is made

Shake me up, take me up
Face to face

Lift me up, shake me up
Face to face

Make me real, make me longing to see you smile
Shall we dancing, shall we be the dancing down under
In this life of lives, are we ready to take the chance
Moving to the rhythm, here at last to

Believe
To believe

We began at the first real spring
How the promise will come when the promise is made
We will sing at the very first spring
That the promise will come when the promise is made

We began at the first real spring - ya
We will sing at the very first spring - ya

We began at the first real spring
We will sing at the very first spring
How the promise will come when the promise is made
Promise is made, promise is made

We began at the first real spring
That the promise will come when the promise is made
We will sing at the very first spring
That the promise will come when the promise is made
Promise is made, promise is made

Shake it up, take me up
Face to face
Face to face
Face to face

If Only You Knew
Anderson/Squire/Howe/White/Sherwood/Khoroshev

Quote:
I can lift you with my heart
Give you meaning every day
Cannot live without your truth

And be the true me
To be the true you

Pick the flowers from your floor
Put them in your arms for you my love
Realise my life and more

Say you will 'n' then

Take me home
Make me clear
It feels so much better
Take me home
To this heart of hearts

If only you knew
You caught me when I was falling
Yes you caught me when I was falling fast

And only you knew
You answered me when I was calling you
You saw me when I was dreaming you
Into my life

Everyone who looks at you
Sees the loving in your every move
You're the healing of the soul

To be the true you
To be the true me

I will be your strength all time
Ever wishing you this love and more
Forever be your guiding song

Say you will and then

Take me home
Make me clear
To feel so much better
In this life
In your heart of hearts

If only you knew
How you caught me when I was falling
Yes you caught me when I was falling fast

And only you knew
You answered me when I was calling you
You saw me when I was dreaming you
Into my life

When I feel the hurt in so many peoples' lives
I take a deep breath and think of your smile your eyes

When I hear the sadness of this earthtime
Then I take a deep breath and know that you understand
That you understand

And only you knew
How you caught me when I was falling fast
Caught me when I was falling fast
If only you knew
How you answered me when I was calling you
You saw me when I was dreaming you

If only you knew
Yes you caught me when I was falling fast
You caught me when I was falling
Into your life

To Be Alive (Hep Yadda)
Anderson/Squire/Howe/White/Sherwood/Khoroshev

Quote:
Not a lot is missing
Every ounce of treasure found
And I believe that everyone should get what
They're allowed
Suspected of belief that comes suspended
In a sound
And everybody wants some

It's the sound they make in heaven
It's a sound for here on earth
I've heard it in the whispering
Of the wonders that we search
We've waited far too long
To hear the healing of the stars
'N' everybody wants some

Everybody wants some
Everybody wants some
Everybody wants some
Everybody wants some
To feel alive

Oh - does it get much better than this
Oh - does it get much better, much better
Oh - does it get much better than this, than this

There's the sound that keeps you trying
There's the sound that makes you smile
There's a sound in every corner
Of the world that we survive

Your temple is the harmony
You feel the sacred ground
Just wishing for the secret
To appear within the sound
Watching for the morning star
The rhythm of the sun
I hear it in my waking dreams
The singing has begun

The passion that we walk upon
The passion that we bring
Is written for the mountains
They love to hear us sing

Everybody wants some
Everybody wants some
Everybody wants some
Everybody wants some
To feel alive

Oh - doesn't get much better than this
Oh - doesn't get much better than this, than this

Who made me make believe
I'm alive I'm living
Never underestimate
The signals coming to you
Oh
The sounding of the earth
It shakes you, yes it shakes you
Oh
The sounding of the earth
It shakes you, let it shake you

Finally
Anderson/Squire/Howe/White/Sherwood/Khoroshev

Quote:
Finally... We put it to the test
Dedicate to the true believer in you
Finally... Put it to the test
Finally

Make no mistake to the mainstream
Music be the master planner
Just like the books you read
You'll hear it on your radio scanner

It's not so much what you know
Or who you know that's coming
Its what you do regardless
Its what you do... eventually

Finally... We put it to the test
Dedicate to the true believer in you
Finally... Put it to the test
Finally

I've seen them running, down and out
Never mind the good intentions
A dreamer with a reason to live
Is as clear as his next invention

You take a second look to find
A second chance at giving
The voices say do not despair
There's a real good reason you're living

I could feel the earth moving
I could see sky falling
We can chase the storm
We can sing the rain
Walk the final distance
Live this life again

Finally... We put it to the test
Dedicate to the true believer in you
Finally... Put it to the test telling me to let go

I can feel the earth moving (I can sing the rain)
I can feel the rain coming (live this life again)
I can feel the storm
I can sing the rain
I can free my heart
Live this life again
You can choose to stand
You can choose to fall
You can see the rain
You can have it all

I can feel the rain coming
I can feel the earth moving
I can feel the love coming

I can feel the earth moving
I can feel the rain coming
I can feel the love coming
I can feel the earth moving

Fom Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe

These four go together and are called Quartet

I Wanna Learn
(Anderson / Howe / Wakeman / Bruford)

Quote:
I wanna learn more about you
We haven't spoke in quite a while
And all of the dreams that come true
So surprising how it catches you

I wanna learn more about me
I've been sinking like a setting stone
And now the dreams are realising it's true
That's why I wanna learn about you

i I wanna know more about life
And things that can fly in between my mind
I wanna change all the I dream about
My waking and my so many lives, oh my

I wanna learn more about you
We haven't spoke in quite a while
Just let me, let me come through
I'll give you my heart, my life for life

ii She Gives Me Love
(Anderson / Howe / Wakeman / Bruford / Dowling)

Quote:
She gives me love
When love had gone away
When the pressure came so fast
She give me love
Long distance runaround
And in between the pressure
I was summoned

How did we dance on the south side of the sky
We saw the flags flying on the moon
And thru the gates of delirium so fast
Believing in the light was a beginning
Only to believe in you
Only to believe in you

She give me love
When I was losing fast
I was awakened by the dream
She was the love for me
the first and last
And all that I remembered
Was the roundabout only to believe in you

iii Who Was The First
(Anderson / Howe / Wakeman / Bruford)

Quote:
Who was the first to show
The moon at night
Is never so far away
We are the first to define the
Languages of love

Who was the first to learn
The universal consciousness divine
We are the first to discover
This day in our time

And when the history of science
Re-writes itself each day
We are living in days of wonder Simon says
So wonderful true believer
So wonderful I'm alive
Just take this world of life
Each day at a time

So up this universal
Combinations of the word
I'll try so hard to fulfill my belief

Take me I'm a love you
I'm a love you
No change in my mind
I'll walk with you to the end of the earth

I wanna learn more about you
We haven't spoke in quite a while
I wanna learn more about me
We haven't spoke in quite a while

So up this universal
Combinations of the word
So up this universal
Word of love

Take me I'm a love you
I'm a want you
No need to change my mind
I'll walk with you to the end of the earth

I wanna learn more about you
We haven't spoke in quite while
I wanna learn more about me

iv I'm Alive
(Anderson / Howe / Wakeman / Bruford)

Quote:
Only when you looked
Did I realise
Someone broke into your life
How we hurt and never show it
Come into my world hold me
In your arms
There's a mystery to the touch
How it heals so
When we're broken

I believe that all the fear you've had
Can gently fly away

We experience we hold together
Lost in one embrace

We will love forever (this eternity)
For in (this) love, I'm alive, I'm alive

Only when you spoke
Did I realise
How you understand this life

How you help me
With your eyesight

Only when we touched
Did it all come true
How you understand my life
How you helped me with your light

The Meeting (Anderson / Howe / Wakeman / Bruford)

Quote:
Surely I could tell
When I sleep tonight
A dream will call
And raise it's head in majesty
Dividing all my energy
To the meeting of your love

Where from whence it came
Like a singer searching for a song
I try to reach where you belong
As I will be the song for you
I will be your servant child

No, oh no
I cannot be deceived
No, oh no
There's something
That I feel
There's something that I feel inside

Surely I could tell
If you ask me Lord
To board the train

My life my love would be the same
As I could be the one for you
In the meeting of your love
In the meeting of your love

I know...as usual, I went ON AND ON AND ON AND ON. But this is big stuff for me, maybe the most important thing I have shared here so far. Try not to get bogged up in the religion thing, I'm not trying to convert anyone. Just sharing my story.

[Edited on 24/3/2003 by musicimprovedme]
YAY! We have another Deadhead here at last!
As to Yes, welllll, I liked the Yes Album, thought it was fantastic, never really listened to a lot else, didn't really like what i heard. But I do know Oliver Wakeman (Rick's son) who once nabbed a girlfriend off of me, is that a good thing or not?
I was listeening to Rammstein last night as I was going to sleep! Excellent German industrial metal band!

[Edited on 24/3/2003 by Ross]
Since MIM recited some songs from his favourite band I will do so too....Iron Maiden lyrics all of them!

Fear of the dark
Quote:
I am a man who walks alone
And when I'm walking a dark road
At night or strolling through the park

When the light begins to change
I sometimes feel a little strange
A little anxious when it's dark

Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there

Have you run your fingers down the wall
And have you felt your neck skin crawl
When you're searching for the light?
Sometimes when you're scared to take a look
At the corner of the room
You've sensed that something's watching you

Have you ever been alone at night
Thought you heard footsteps behind
And turned around and no one's there?
And as you quicken up your pace
You find it hard to look again
Because you're sure there's someone there

Watching horror films the night before
Debating witches and folklores
The unknown troubles on your mind
Maybe your mind is playing tricks
You sense, and suddenly eyes fix
On dancing shadows from behind

Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have constant fear that something's always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someone's always there

When I'm walking a dark road
I am a man who walks alone

Hallowed be thy name
Quote:
I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time
Cos at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows Pole
The sands of time for me are running low
When the priest comes to read me the last rites
I take a look through the bars at the last sights
Of a world that has gone very wrong for me
Can it be there's some sort of error
Hard to stop the surmounting terror
Is it really the end not some crazy dream
Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not so easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak
Tears they flow but why am I crying
After all I am not afraid of dying
Don't believe that there is never an end
As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Someone calls from a cell "God be with you"
If there's a God then why has he let me die?
As I walk all my life drifts before me
And though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul cos it's willing to fly away
Mark my words please believe my soul lives on
Please don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to see the truth
When you know that your time is close at hand
maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion.

Run to the hills
Quote:
White man came across the sea
he brought us pain and misery.
He killed our tribes
he killed our creep

He took our game for his own neecl.
We fought him hard
we fought him well

Out on the plains we gave him hell.
But many came
too much for cree
oh will we ever be set free.
Riding through dustclouds and barren wastes

Galloping hard on the plains

Chasing the red-skins back to their holes

Fighting them at their own game.
Murder for freedom the stab in the back

Woman and children and cowards attack. '
Run to the hills - run for your lives.
Run to the hills - run for your lives.

Soldier blue in the barren wastes

Hunting and killing their game

Raping the woman and wasting the man.
The only good indians are tame.
Selling them whiskey and taking their gold

Enslaving the young and destroying the old.
Run to the hills - run for your lives. . ..
Run to the hills - run for your lives. . . .

From here to eternity
Quote:
She fell in love with his greasy machine
She leaned over wiped his head kickstart clean
She'd never seen the beast before
But she left there wanting more more more
But when she was walking on down the road
She heard a sound that made her heart explode
He whispered to her to get on the back
"I'll take you on a ride from here to eternity"

Hell ain't a bad place
Hell is from here to eternity
Hell ain't a bad place
Hell is from here to eternity

She must be having one of her crazy dreams
She'd never sat on a piece so mean
It made her feel like she's on cloud nine
She even thought she heard the engine sigh

But like all dreams that come to an end
They took a tumble at the devil's bend
The beast and Charlotte they were two of a kind
They'd always take the line... from here to eternity

Hell ain't a bad place
Hell is from here to eternity
Hell ain't a bad place
Hell is from here to eternity

IRON MAIDEN!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!
There are some faults in it but you all have to live with it!
Run to the hills was the first single I ever bought!
I say my favorite band is Good Charlotte. They are the best. Ive never heard the others, exept for Nelly. Nelly is kool, but Good Charlottes better!
It's not Rammstien it's Rammstein, named after a German air base where a plane accidentally crashed into the audience during an airshow. (the song 'Rammstein' of Rammstein is about that).

My favourite band is Cradle Of Filth.
Sorry Virumor both for my inability to spell and your bad taste in music! Wink Smilie

Cradle of Filth Virumor? Really? My mate Stu used to play guitar for them, he quit/got fired a couple of years ago though, I'm hoping he'll get back to making proper music again real soon. However, Maiden, Yeah! Good choice.rrCan I quote Lyrics too then? Seeing as how everyone else is...rr

Yeah, Transylvania is probably the greatest bit of Maiden plank-spanking there is.

And Sugar Magnolias all round for the DeadHeads *hugging back*
Well since yiou've all started reciting lyrics, I'll add one of my own too. This one by Lynyrd Skynyrd pretty much sums up me and my relationships...

Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd

If I leave here tomorrow
Would you still remember me?
For I must be travelling on now,
Cause there's too many places I've got to see
But if I stayed here with you girl
Things just couldn't be the same
Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can't change.

Bye, bye, it's been sweet love,
Though this feeling I can't change
But please don't take it so badly
Cause the Lord knows I'm to blame.
But if I stayed here with you girl,
Things just couldn't be the same.
Cause I'm as free as a bird now
And this bird you cannot change
Lord knows, I can't change.
Lord help me, I can't change.
Nice one Val, that was my favourite song for years (dunno if it still is or not, stopped having favourites a long time ago) It's great for all sorts of activities, what with the tempo change in the middle....

Long Live 9 minute Guitar solos!
Stairway to heaven got a long guitar solo!
And by the way Iron Maiden always have a LONG guitar solo Plastic!

SONATA ARCTICA!!!! THEY RULE!!!
Yes that is great Asteroth i thought i was all alone...
Well since u have the nerve to send in Cradle of Filth lyrics i won't do any less :

The forest whispers my name :

Black candles dance to an overture
But I am drawn past their flickering lure
To the breathing forest that surrounds the room
Where the vigilant trees push out of the womb

I sip the blood-red wine
My thoughts weigh heavy with the burden of time
From knowledge drunk from the fountain of life
From Chaos born out of love and the scythe
The forest beckons with her nocturnal call
To pull me close amid the baying of wolves
Where the bindings of christ are downtrodden with scorn
In the dank, odiferous earth

We embrace like two lovers at death
A monument to the trapping of breath
As restriction is bled from the veins in my neck
To drop roses on my marbled breast
I lust for the wind and the flurry of leaves
And the perfume of flesh on the murderous breeze
To learn from the dark and the voices between

This is my will...

The forest whispers my name...again and again

I walk the path
To the land of the Dark Immortals
Where the hungry ones will carry my soul
As the wild hunt careers through the boughs

Come to me, my Pale Enchantress
In the moon of the woods we kiss

Artemis be near me
In the arms of the ancient oak
Where daylight hangs by a lunar noose
And the horned, hidden one is re-invoked

The principle of Evil
Evolution has been recalled
Beneath the spread of a Magickal Aeon
I stand enthralled
...In the whispering forest
ok i discovered Rammstein the other day.. very cool. I don't have a clue what they are saying, but I dont care! i just bob my head and enjoy :P

little air guitar on occasion too. Big Laugh Smilie
As to Rammstein, I don't like them, but I translated one of their songs with my very limited German, and was surprised to find that they were singing, You.... You Have.... You Have Milk.

But then I haven't done German since 1990, and I am a little rusty.
Well, the only words I know are
GUT=Good, I got that from Aule,
and DANKER=Thank you.
That`s all I know. Big Smile Smilie

Big Laugh Smilie Well done Squirrel!

I only know one german word... Leica! Big Smile Smilie

You are always right Squirrel!!!!

D@mn straight I am, if only everyone could just remember that... *sighs*
And I who thought it was "du hast mich"=you have me. But I won't argue with the Squirrel. And "you have milk" sounds so much better. Wink Smilie *still giggeling*
For about two years now, my favourite band have been Nirvana. I simply love the melody, the harsh and so tender sound of their music. I love the lyrics, that I belive are so powerfull and complex and hard to get... But so great...

Right now, my favourite song is the Valley of The Damned by Dragon Force. I first heard the song on a bus (a very long trip)a girl was listening to it. Over the night she borrowed me that CD, and I fell inlove with it. She didn't know the name of the band... and I stumbolled over it two days ago while listening to some songs on the internet. I love it, I love the singers voice, I love the solos, I love the melody, I love the rythm, I love the lyrics...I love it. Just like I loved Funeral of Herats (still do) two weeks ago Big Smile Smilie

man I hated that band, they just ripped off Dinosaur Jr and early Soundgarden stuff and somehow got so popular that it was all you heard for a good 2 years. I for one went out and partied the day Cobain died, it's just a shame his music couldn't have gone with him.

Why have they returned to haunt me???
I really didn't want to get out of the car for work this morning. I just happened to catch the beginning of Desert Island Discs (which I've never actually listened to before) on the radio, and the guest just happened to be my favourite guitarist, David Gilmour from Pink Floyd.

I was sorely tempted to just sit out in the car park for half an hour. Did anyone actually get to listen to the program. I'd love to know what his ten favourite tracks are, and what is favourite book was.
I missed it too Val, but Johnny Walker was going on about it on Radio 2 in the evening, and I went and found you this page http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/desertislanddiscs.shtml which gave me all the info I needed. However, if it's changed by the time you get back, here's the published list.

My favorite guitarist is still Slash...

*ducks as he is sure the squirrel is going to throw something at him..*
*Misses Gimli_axe_wielder and hits the wall* Big Laugh Smilie Unlucky Plastic, you missed, you`re just going to have to throw something else! Big Smile Smilie Sorry Gim!
heh, I just didn't like them, and so many people thought it was so clever and new, and it wasn't and it really annoyed me.

I like Slash though Gimli, don't worry, best thing about that d@mn band.
I have to agree with plastic on this one, I never got the big picture with Nirvana. To be truthful I though they sucked big time, yet I think the Foo's are great, let's have a look why, Foo Fighter's uplifthing, jovial rock, Nirvana misserable grunge dirge!

Cheers Plastic... Much obliged, mate. A few unexpected tracks in that list, to be sure.
