Right again Turin; your turn. Happy Elf Smilie
What did Gloin say was the one thing the dwarves of the Lonely Mountain have not surpassed their fathers of old in?
Interior decorating their homes or making armor?
I'll take that, but was thinking it was simply craftsmanship.
Your turn.
In The Hobbit, where did the Dwarves help Bilbo go boating Question Smilie
I'd guess it was in mirkwood by the enchanted stream Smile Smilie
That was it Arath, your turn to give us the next one. Happy Elf Smilie
It's been a while, so I'll throw one out: What did Eomer do at the Battle of Pelennor Fields when he first saw that the ships coming up the Anduin carried friends instead of foes?
He became a Berserker: 'Full steam ahead and damn the torpedoes'.

Oops, I read it wrong. Did he say, 'Where the heck have you been; you were due last Thursday'?
Or 'Whose a King now; I got mine before you got yours'? Or 'Now side by side, we once again can cross swords with the enemy?' Or something more like the latter of the three.
I had in mind something he did, not something he said.
Hint: It has to do with his sword.
He in gladness, threw his sword up in the air and instead of getting cut or stabbed by it, caught it by the hilt?
Yep, and then let out a chuckle.
In how many fir trees did the Goblins find fifteen funny little birds?
I believe it was four, and for some reason I think that Gandalf was in a tall pine that only he could get up.
The Goblins thought Thorin's Company were in five fir trees according to their song, but they not being foresters, didn't know their trees. Only one was a fir, a tall slender one and into that Dwalin and Balin had climbed. There were three pine trees: one held Gandalf; the second (a huge one) held Dori, Nori, Ori. Oin, Gloin, and Bilbo; and the third held Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, and Thorin. Fili and Kili were at the top of a tall larch.

Turin's answer, not being 'five', was good enough; so he gets to ask the next question. Happy Elf Smilie
What reason did Gimli tell Frodo why he couldn't go along on the quest for the Lonely Mountain?
His mother wouldn't let him, because he was still just a young Dwarf-pup way back then? Or he wasn't invited? Or he had a hangnail? Or he was too busy then knitting a new chain-mail sweater? Or some of the above? Elf With a Big Grin Smilie
It was the first one, but it may well have also been a combination of the four.
Where was Pippin and what was he doing when Frodo, Sam, and Gollum were climbing the Straight Stair?
Pippin was riding with Gandalf to Minas Tirith on Shadowfax
No, on the day Gandalf and Pippin reached Minas Tirith (09 March), Frodo, Gollum, and Sam had only reached the Morgul-road. They ascended the Straight Stair on the night of 10 March and reached the top of the Winding Stair at dawn on 11 March.

Try again.
He was in his chamber at Minas Tirith, and I believe he was sleeping.
Okay Turin, your turn.
What was the name of the pony that Merry rode from Helm's Deep?
Stybba was it's name

if my answer is right and it's my turn i pass it.....to Turin or Grondmaster
I'll throw another out: What gift did Maedhros give Fingolfin to make up for his father's betrayal?
Maedhros waived his claim to kingship over all the Noldor in favor of Fingolfin.
Correct.
Who is the Vala and Arata that is the sister of Námo and Irmo?
Vana?
No, Vána is the younger sister of Yavanna.

Hint: Namo and Irmo are sometimes named for their dwellings: Mandos and Lórien. Happy Elf Smilie
Nienna?
Correct.
What was Aragorn's theory why Grima failed to hit Gandalf with the palantir?
Because he threw like a girl? Elf With a Big Grin Smilie Actually I don't remember, if I can't draw it out of my memory by tomorrow, I will try to find it in the book.
Because he couldn't determine who he hated more: Gandalf or Saruman.
Correct.
Who were Fëanor's half-brothers?
Fingolfin and Finarfin
Yes, Turin's turn. Happy Elf Smilie
What custom do the men of Gondor have before a meal that hobbits do not?
They say a type of grace, while the hobbits just dig in; I think the real answer might be found somewhere in or around 'The Window on the West'.
Happy hunting. Smile Smilie
That's where I thought it was, but they didn't say anything: before their meals they faced the West to where Númenor was, Elvenhome is, and beyond that to where the Valar will ever be.
Correct.
What was the date when Sam returned to Bag End after seeing the other Ring-bearers sail off into the West?
according to my remembrance, it is October 6?
You have it correct Thinker; your turn. Happy Elf Smilie
After Rose died to whom does Sam gave the Red book before he passed over sea?
Elanor.
