He called himself Saruman the Many coloured - is this the answer?
No, that was his self-assumed color. When Gandalf cast Saruman from the order and broke his staff, he said Saruman now had "no colour".
Where were Thorin's Dwarves when they sang the following verse
It passed the lonely Mountain bare
and swept above the dragon's lair:
there black and dark lay boulders stark
and flying smoke was in the air.
That diddy was sung in the house of Beorn.
Q: In what year (approximately) did Sauron choose the land of Mordor as his new stronghold?
Indeed it was. Now you get to post a question!
Since this thread is almost forgotten, I'll ask another one:
How did Turin call Sador, the old man with an injured leg ?
"Labadal", which is found in the Narn I Nîn Húrin of the Unfinished Tales.
Whose is this laugh and on whose ears did it fall
... and then he laughed, and the sound was like music, or like water in a parched land; ... it fell on his ears like the echo of all the joys he had ever known. But he himself burst into tears. Then, as a sweet rain will pass down a wind of spring and the sun will shine out the clearer, his tears ceased, and his laughter welled up, ...
I think it was gandalf , and Pippin the one who hears it. Though I'm not sure at all.
Gandalf said it, but not to Pippin, or Merry, of Frodo.
Somebody can ask the next one when the give us the other hobbit's name.
That was a snippet between Gandalf and Sam in Ch 4, the Field of Cormallen, in Book VI.
Gimme a sec to get a good question.
Q: Where were the 7 palantiri set up by the men of old?
Hey Mungo, you may use your edit button to add something to your just previously posted post after you find you want to say something more.
I'll give one location and leave some time for others to fill out the list.

Impossible to answer this question, for only one or two were named by the Professor.
Some one else may ask the next question.

He couldn't reckon the days that had passed as he looked
at the moon.

A hint: He was riding on horseback when he came accross them.
was it Tulkas, he discovered them while he was on a hunting trip right ?
Uh, I think it should be Orome the hunter. Tulkas was the dude who could really wrestle.
Örome it was. He heard them singing when he was out hunting.
Your turn to pose a question.
He was killed by Gothmog in the 5th battle.
How did Dior find out that Beren and Luthien died?
He opened a coffer and found therein the Nauglamir, the 'Necklace of the Drarves', wherein was set the Silmaril, which his mother and father had brought out Angband from the Iron Crown of Morgoth.
What color was Tom Bombadil's jacket
blue and his boots are yellow
what are Gil-Galads colours?
Off of memory I think they may have been silver, white and blue, but I could be very wrong about this. Am I close?
close ebnough...i can only remember blue now....it was either silver/white or gold...prettty sure it was gold...
Okay, I'll go on the assumption that one of us was right. How many of you know this one off the top of your head? Seems simple, but I had to look it up.

She was Bilbo's cousin-in-law, a wife of his cousin Otho.

Strider and Estel
What is the name of 'The Black Sword'and who wielded it?
The Black Sword was Turin.
How did the Valar counteract the influence of Sauron?
(actually, the wielder was Turin, but the swords name was Gurthrang)
The Valar, countered Sauron by sending the five Maiar, the Istari to Middle Earth, as wizards.
Who aided the Rohirim in the uruks assault on Helm's Deep? (other than the Huorns after the fight.)
Apart from Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli there was Gambling and Erkenbrand.
Was this who you were thinking of or are there others?
There were a few others, like say ................ 1000 of them.
... a thousand men on foot; their swords were in their hands. Amid them strode a man tall and strong ...
the latter was Erkenbrand.
I know this game isn't open book, but I wasn't trying to answer the question, but adding filler to the previous answer which I considered was close enough to ask the next question.
lol I did mean to say all the other 1000's and 1000's
Q: What was the date that the ring was thrown into the crack of Doom and destroyed.
25th of March, 3019th year of the 3rd age.

Eärnur, thirty-third and last King of Gondor until the crowning of King Elessar (Aragorn).
Who was Otho Sackville-Baggin's father's mother (paternal grandmother)
That would be Laura Grubb.
As I am absolutely sure, I'll post a question: How do you salute in the manner of Gondor, according to the book?
If you need a hint, it's in between Pippin meeting Beregond and Pippin meeting Bergil.
...with bowed head and hands upon the breast.
How did Morgoth finally find out where Gondolin was?
He hid under a burning bush and waited for an unsuspecting traveler on their way to the Hidden City to show him the way?

And then he caught Tuor and Voronwe strolling down the path in pretty armour. He then clicked his fingers, and Maeglin conveniently steps out from a mountain hole, eyes flaming at Tuor. But then Tuor clicks his fingers and Idril comes out from another mountain hole, using her beauty to dazzle Maeglin's senses. Morgoth then found the way to Gondolin quite easily by simply going up the mountain hole and marking the path
(of course, how he later fitted Balrogs, dragons and wargs into a little mountain hole is still a mystery).
I realize this is totally out of chronological order and makes no sense whatsoever so don't take me seriously.
