I had to go to the Karen Wynn Fonstad's The Atlas of Middle-earth to find that it was approximately 30 miles east of Rivendale measuring from longitude 34 on two different regional maps, that of The Misty Mountains (pg. 80-81) and of The White Mountains (pg. 88-89).

Well done Val, your turn to give us another. Happy Elf Smilie

No, it's not. But it's not North either.
Sorry about that. I picked those hills instead of The Great East Road because said thoroughfare passed through a few of the B-words that I was considering. Elf With a Big Grin Smilie So that may mean ....

#6 is it an area that gets the first part of its name from the four letter name of its major village?

I'm trying not to give the answer as we two have been trading the originating of the eye spys lately, and I want to give some others that privilidge next time. Happy Elf Smilie

That took some deciphering, but No, I don't think so.
#7 is it east of the Three Farthing Stone?
#7 is it east of the Three Farthing Stone?

I think you are toying with me now Grondy Big Smile Smilie Yes
No, I just ruled out Bindbale Wood, Bag End, Bywater, and Bywater Pool, which leaves me three other B-words west of the Baranduin as you have already ruled out Bree-land; and Bree, Buckland, Barrow-Downs lie south of the Weather Hills as do Breredon, Brandybuch Hall, and Bucklebury.

Okay, #8It must be Brockenborings in the Atlas of M-e (the Brockenbores in the RotK)?

So much for me hiding my answer in among a load of other B's. Well done, Grondy, Brockenbores is correct.

Elf With a Big Grin Smilie I waited for other people to guess, but there weren't many around to help. If you want me to abstain in the next game I will, but I think you were just kidding.

#7 No it isn't "Ents", as they could be found in the Third Age.

I must admit, I was thinking of the entwives for this one, but #5 ruled them out.

#8 Are they speaking beings?
#8 Yes, they were speaking beings, also very long winded I have to assume, as we have never met any, and they are now only a sad memory. Sad Smilie

(I know we are supposed to only give one word answers, but I was afraid you would go off on the wrong track and wouldn't be able to get back.) Tongue Smilie
You've got me stumped big time Grondy. The only race I can think of that disappeared out at this time were the entwives. I've been mulling over this one to distraction... Someone put me out of my misery and get this one quick. I'll then be able to say, "Oh, yer, I'd forget about them."
