This one is sooo familiar, but I am not sure, and I don't have my books in front of me. The first time I read it, I thought it might be the great worm that Turin killed. But that is just a guess.
Amarië had the right answer.

Ringfacwen's "shimmered in multicolors everytime he moved" is the winner of the Pseudo-Silmaril this time, as she beat Aüle by almost 8 hours.
When I saw Aulë's "Melkor" his other guesses had been removed and I just figured Perwing was quoting the source out of niceness and because he had bothered to look it up. I usually double check the answers by looking for the source in case I am ever challenged I can at least back it up rather than use the lame "That's what it says in my quiz book."
To preclude people taking advantage of the system by wrongly guessing and later when someone else provides the correct answer, going back and revising the earlier post with the correct answer, I will have to make a new rule"
New Trivia Rule: Revised trivia answers will not count; if you make a mistake, you may edit you old post to say so, but you must make a new unedited post with the correct answer for it to count.
Who or what did Sam have to leave behind at the Doors of Moria

Right Remi, another pretty pretty to you.
Can you find the Odd Man Out: Khazad-dûm, Gamil Zirak, Kheled-zâram, Zirak-zigil, Kibil-nâla.
Can you find the Odd Man Out: Khazad-dûm, Gamil Zirak, Kheled-zâram, Zirak-zigil, Kibil-nâla.
Wild guess: Khazad-dum cos if I remember rightly that's not a mountain. Don't shoot me if I just said something stupid, it happens all the time.

Is it Kheled-zâram?
I'm saying Gamil Zirak, who was a Dwarven Smith from Nogrod.
The rest are all places, Khazad-dum being a mine, Kheled-zaram a lake, Zirac-zigil a mountain and Kibil-nâla the source of a river.
The rest are all places, Khazad-dum being a mine, Kheled-zaram a lake, Zirac-zigil a mountain and Kibil-nâla the source of a river.
You got it Valedhelgwath, so you also get a Pseudo-Silmaril.

Elfstone, the Californian, gave them a nine hour head start so he gets the Pseudo Silmarillion for his 'Ungoliant' answer.

Eol the Dark Elf, after he killed Turgon's sister with a poisoned dart.

Whom did the Dúnedain teach to sow seed, grind grain, hew wood and shape stone
Whom did the Dúnedain teach to sow seed, grind grain, hew wood and shape stone
No, this happened in earlier times.
They taught the men and women living on the mainland. Haven't read the silmarillion in a while, but I belive they where of the men who got used and tricked by Morgoth to fear and reject the elves. Because of this they lived a primitive life in Morgoths shadow.

That would be Aragorn Elessar, Son of Arathorn, Isildur's heir and bearer of the sword that was broken and forged anew... AKA Strider, Estel, Thorongil, Wingfoot, etc, etc.

Renewed shall be blade that was broken
Renewed shall be blade that was broken
A Pseudo-Silmaril to Arwen*Evenstar* for her correct answer, (PJ misleads the movie goers on this one, as he still has Aragorn using his old ranger sword in Moria, rather than the reforged Narsil which Aragorn renamed Anduril, "Flame of the West".)
Name the Peredhil.
Name the Peredhil.
Right Perwing, you get the shiny bauble.

What was the name of the dragon that Fram son of Frumgar slew
What was the name of the dragon that Fram son of Frumgar slew
Off the top of my head I would say that would be Scatha the Worm. Fram's victory was shortlived, however, as the local Dwarves claimed the dragon's hoard belonged to them and subsequently slew Fram to get it back.
Yup, Val has got himself another Pseudo-Silmaril for the answer that Tolkien squirreled away under Appendix A of RotK in Section 'II The House of Eorl'. Who was:
Quote:
A strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved.
A strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved.
And also he who would later be crowned King of both Gondor and Arnor, so Prog Gets the Pseudo-Sillmaril.
Where did Orcs and Elves fight the first battle of the Wars of Bereriand
Where did Orcs and Elves fight the first battle of the Wars of Bereriand
Hopefully this is right, but I'll say north of the Andram, and halfway between the rivers Aros, and Gelion.
That is a good enough answer for me, Elfstone, so you can have a Pseudo-Silmaril.
