Who built Barad Nimras and where Question Smilie
Ringfacwen's "shimmered in multicolors everytime he moved" is the winner of the Pseudo-Silmaril this time, as she beat AŁle by almost 8 hours. Elf With a Big Grin Smilie

When I saw AulŽ's "Melkor" his other guesses had been removed and I just figured Perwing was quoting the source out of niceness and because he had bothered to look it up. I usually double check the answers by looking for the source in case I am ever challenged I can at least back it up rather than use the lame "That's what it says in my quiz book."

To preclude people taking advantage of the system by wrongly guessing and later when someone else provides the correct answer, going back and revising the earlier post with the correct answer, I will have to make a new rule"

Moderator Smilie New Trivia Rule: Revised trivia answers will not count; if you make a mistake, you may edit you old post to say so, but you must make a new unedited post with the correct answer for it to count. Moderator Smilie

Can you find the Odd Man Out: Khazad-dŻm, Gamil Zirak, Kheled-z‚ram, Zirak-zigil, Kibil-n‚la. Question Smilie
Wild guess: Khazad-dum cos if I remember rightly that's not a mountain. Don't shoot me if I just said something stupid, it happens all the time. Tongue Smilie
Is it Kheled-z‚ram?
I'm saying Gamil Zirak, who was a Dwarven Smith from Nogrod.

The rest are all places, Khazad-dum being a mine, Kheled-zaram a lake, Zirac-zigil a mountain and Kibil-n‚la the source of a river.
You got it Valedhelgwath, so you also get a Pseudo-Silmaril. Happy Elf Smilie

Whom did the Dķnedain teach to sow seed, grind grain, hew wood and shape stone Question Smilie
No, this happened in earlier times.
They taught the men and women living on the mainland. Haven't read the silmarillion in a while, but I belive they where of the men who got used and tricked by Morgoth to fear and reject the elves. Because of this they lived a primitive life in Morgoths shadow.

*pets her cuddly badger given to her by Plastic in another thread*
That would be Aragorn Elessar, Son of Arathorn, Isildur's heir and bearer of the sword that was broken and forged anew... AKA Strider, Estel, Thorongil, Wingfoot, etc, etc.

Is that a thorough enough answer? Big Smile Smilie

A Pseudo-Silmaril to Arwen*Evenstar* for her correct answer, (PJ misleads the movie goers on this one, as he still has Aragorn using his old ranger sword in Moria, rather than the reforged Narsil which Aragorn renamed Anduril, "Flame of the West".)

Happy Elf Smilie Yup, Val has got himself another Pseudo-Silmaril for the answer that Tolkien squirreled away under Appendix A of RotK in Section 'II The House of Eorl'.

What food did the Men of Esgaroth make for long journeys Question Smilie
Perwing gets the pretty pretty this time. Happy Elf Smilie

What is a thangail Question Smilie
Hint: It was something Gimli said. Elf Winking Smilie
I think its the hard and pretty much tasteless buscuit called cram, which though quite bland was nevertheless very nutritional.
Val's got it right, so he gets the pretty bauble this time. Happy Elf Smilie
The food was mostly in the form of very thin cakes, made of a meal that was baked a light brown on the outside, and on the inside was the colour of cream. Gimli took up one of the cakes and looked at it with a doubtful eye.

'Cram,' he said under his breath, as he broke off a crisp corner and nibbled at it. His expression quickly changed, and he ate all the rest of the cake with relish.

'No more, no more!' cried the Elves laughing. 'You have eaten enough already for a long day's march.'

'I thought it was only a kind of cram, such as the Dalemen make for journeys in the wild,' said the Dwarf.

'So it is,' they answered, 'But we call it lembas or waybread, and it is more strengthening than any food made by man, and it is more pleasant than cram, by all accounts.'

'Indeed it is,' said Gimli. 'Why, it is better than the honey-cakes of the Beornings, and that is great praise, for the Beornings are the best bakers that I know of; but they are none too willing to deal out their cakes to travelers in these days. You are kindly hosts!'

-- From Book II of FOTR about four pages into Chapter 8 entitled 'Farewell to Lůrien.'
