This is due to a cookie issue, what it does is it records any new posts since your last visit via cookies stored on your machine. Assuming you visit this site from your school/college whatever, you probably browse from different machines right? If this is the case it's because it can't find the cookies from the original machine you browsed/ it stored them on. Sorry but if my theory is correct there is nothing I can do about this.

But, Taz, I thought you could do everything. Smile Smilie

Must admit, it does play up though, Taz. On mine, it'll show me all new posts, but as soon as I make a post myself, they all disappear leaving me to find the unread ones. This doesn't always happen. Sometimes, midway through a session, four or five new posts pop up as other people post, and these tend not to disappear at all, even once I've read them.

As I'm in here at roughly the same times everyday, though, it doesn't really bother me. I just go by the dates that are showing on the threads.

Something that does annoy me at times is the clock that gives the times of my posts. For ages it has been an hour out, even though I had clicked on the correct zone in My Account. I figured it would sort itself out once we changed the clocks last weekend, but now I'm 2 hours out. I don't want to mess around with the settings in My Account because it'll mess up my avatar (besides I did try altering the time zone settings once before and nothing seemed to happen)
The clock in my PC is working fine, by the way.
I think the clock thingy is caused by daylight savings time working backwards in the program. My P-T clock shows it is 01:00 GMT yet I'm is Zone 8 where it is actually 3 PM PST so the P-T clock should actually say 23:00 PM GMT. Elf Confused Smilie
I want my cookies!!! *stubborn 3-year-old* Oh well..
So there is a thing that tells you where the new posts are? I didn't know that. I just browse through them all... Orc Grinning Smilie But then I have loads and loads of time (err, no really, but never mind). Tongue Smilie

The clock thingie is pretty annoying though. Lemme check if it works now. *posts*

Nope. It's an our later than normal. Probably cos we have just changed the clocks here to wintertime again. And this clock device probably hasn't.

Know what you mean Ama, I have the same problem and it`s xtremely irritating! Mad Smilie If I haven`t been at PT for a couple of days, then I have to read about 1000 post before I find the one that was posted last...at least!

Just bookmark the thread to your favourites Elf Sticking Tounge Out Smilie
Or, and this is a bit of a revolutionary idea, look at what time and date it is before you log out, then when you come back, only look at threads done AFTER that time.
Blimey, what a good idea! Now why didn't we think of that Plastic? You're so clever.... Wink Smilie
guys: just tell me:┐ how do you check that wonderful thing that allows you to see new posts?......,i mean, ┐how do you use it? Wink Smilie

I usually just click on "Today Messages" up above. The posts from the last 2 days are usually listed and you can link right to them. Big Smile Smilie
Whats a cookie?

*Jokes*
It's American for biscuit.

*jokes back*
A "cookie" is the circle your tires make when you spin your car out in the snow on purpose. The car has to spin all the way around to make a complete cookie though, and you need an empty parking lot for a place to make them safely. We do not wish to damage anyone or anything including our reputations. Cool Elf Smilie

Police Smilie FOR SAFETY REASONS: NEVER DO THIS ON A STREET OR HIGHWAY; NOR WHERE PARKED CARS, PEDESTRIANS OR ESPECIALLY GROWN-UPS ARE PRESENT; NOR ATTEMPT IT AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 10 MPH (ABOUT 16 KPH)--HALF THOSE SPEEDS GIVES ONE AN EVEN SAFER MARGIN OF ERROR. Police Smilie

Oh, Those were the good old days Elf With a Big Grin Smilie
