MELKOR!!!!!! grrr...stupid morgoth. killed my Tree - err, the Trees of Valinor. *would like to impound him but he's in the "void"*
Ungoliant did Melkor's dirty work by drinking the two tree dry of all their life-force. So she should share top billing with Melkor as the uncoolest.
Melkor is very cool in my opinion. If there were no Melkor, nothing would have happened at all on Arda - no War between the Valar, no War in Beleriand, no Sauron being corrupted by Melkor, no Balrogs, no Lord of The Rings,... well u get the picture.

The uncoolest character is Grìma Wormtongue... he's just a pawn of Saruman and a total failure... he's definitely the uncoolest
grr to Ungoliant too!!!
you have a point, Virumor. But, I don't care what Melkor did, I hate him cos of the incident of the Trees. lol

ooh, and Gothmog!!!!!! for killing Glorfindel and Fingon!!! (or was that Glaurung? lol, it's been a while)
Grima Wormtongue, he's pretty horrible in the film, but utterly vile in the book.
Gothmog killed Fingon, Glorfindel was killed by a Balrog.
Glaurung was killed by Turin Turambar.

Anyway, to name another uncool character : Fëanor and all his sons... I know that without Fëanor there would be no Silmarils and as such the whole history of Arda would be different, still he's a terribly arrogant and ambious character.
And his sons r even worse, they're as arrogant and ambious as their father, but instead of wise, they're stupid.
How they attacked -and killed- Dìor and Nimloth and killed them... and later attacked the Mouths of Sirion just to get that stupid jewel... well they're not very sympathetic.
the ucoolest person has to be Frodo REALLY oh it is too heavy help me sam i cant defend myself sam do this sam do that and for god sake he doesent even through the ring in and he abandons sam at the end to go to the undying lands
*can't resist the temptation any longer*

SAM! Definitely, whiny, wheedly little git...
I don´t know!?! I think there that there´s no uncool person on Middleearth but the movies shows some of the cool guys from the books as bad guys, like Boromir and his brother.

Only if you don't read between the lines... or watch between the scenes, as the case may be... Elf Confused Smilie

Anyway, I don't feel the movie has made either one out to be "bad guys."

My pick for uncoolest would be Denethor. Forgive me for thinking that attempted murder-suicide is the antithesis of cool, especially when the murder bit is your only remaining son. And, if I recall correctly, the man slept in his armor! Talk about stiff! This man makes Al Gore look charismatic!
How 'bout Saruman? He denyed the Valar and tried to become Dark Lord.
Lotho Sackville-Baggins is seriously low on cool...
wehehe, i' ll probably will choose haldir as the coolest character in the movie ( r we taling movie/ book? ).. i like the scene when the elf warrior marching into helm's deep, really sends something chill down my spine. it's like one fantastic scene with the background music, wahhhh,

the uncoolest one will be sorry to say but its frodo. sorry to all frodo's fans . frodo's face as how elijah wood performed it, werkkk.. ( with cry, tears, pity, )
I have been talking to some people and they all say that Gollum isn't the uncoolest. Is Gollum realy that cool
Why why why, why do everyone like gollum I hate that creap. do you people realy love him. He is going to try to kill Frodo and Sam Sad Smilie Sad Smilie Sad Smilie Sad Smilie
If Bilbo had kept the ring much longer, don't you think he would have become just like Gollum? The idea of cool and uncool is quite subjective and a tad ridiculous... it's really oversimplifying the matter. But I'll tell you this, I felt the same pity for Gollum that Bilbo and Frodo did. Frodo couldn't bring himself to kill Gollum because he could see that Gollum was as much a victim of Sauron and the Ring as he was... much, much more so, in fact. Gollum was not totally innocent in the matter but he wasn't evil.

That's why I like him so much! Plus, lest we forget, without Gollum the quest would have failed utterly and everyone would be dead.
How can anyone not like Gollum? I know that many do not like him because he’s trying to take the Ring from Frodo, but we have to remember that Gollum is still bound to it. It was taken from him without him knowing about it. He’s had this Ring for a very long time and is clearly obsessed by it, I’m sure I would be too if I lost something of such a great value. Everyone wants the one Ring, a Ring that gives one complete power to rule the world. Who wouldn’t go mad and insanely obsessed by it?

Each and every one of the characters in the book is important. They let us know what is going on while Frodo and Sam are on their way to Mordor, and they are telling us how the knowledge of the Ring being found affects the World, but for my part, Gollum is one of the most important characters. He is the one that in the end “saves” Frodo from a terrible destiny and in a way I believe that he saves whole ME. As they say in the movie; “Frodo wouldn’t gotten far without Sam.”, but Frodo wouldn’t gotten far without Gollum either! Without him, Frodo and Sam would still be walking around and probably ended their adventure in The Dead Marshes. But I guess this is just me? Anyway, I agree with Plastic.
Uh yea Grima Wormtung is sick fake and i dunno, I HATE HIM!
I'd say Lotho Sackville-Baggins is the uncoolest, though I've noticed that in Tolkien's books, every character has its importance, wheter we like him or not ...
As for Feanor ... Virumor, all that Feanor & co. have done was part of their doom: to be the greatest of the Eldar, but never to be accepted by the others! How can they be uncool when the history of an entire race is bound to their work (including the Rings of Power forged by Celebrimbor, son of Curufin, son of Feanor)?
