Howdy, Rivendell, welcome and enjoy your stay. In my short time here I've found that ever annoying you problem mention has vanished, and been replaced by (yeaaaaaaaa!) extreme care in posting speculation or quotation to avoid making myself red in the face (not that folks pick on you, it just feels weird to go from "knowing everything" about Middle-Earth and asking people "WHY HAVEN'T YOU READ THE SILMARILLION?" to finding out how little one actually does know; weird, but fun.)

Welcome to PT Rivendellelf. We hope your stay is a long and happy one here! I have to agree with Morambar's statement about being in awe of how much knowledge you can find here regarding Tolkien's world. I still get funny looks from my friends when I try to talk about Tolkien, but then I come here and know there are many others who share in my love for it. Take time to read through the threads....and post while you are there! You will learn so much here about Tolkien's world, not to mention the fact that you will meet lots of wonderful people from all over the world.

Welcome Rivendellelf...I do the same thing, but your friends will get used to it, and eventually they will get interested in Tolkien too. Once some of my friends heard about the story of Beren and Luthien, they all picked up the Silmarillion and started reading it!
