Please note the dead easy rules.

No bad language.
Keep it civil.

We all have our own ideas but they may not be the same as others (thankfully). Just because someone's idea or interpretation is different to yours doesn't make them wrong.

Introduce yourself here.

Have fun.
Hey there, Nick here, all the way from Port Elizabeth, South Africa!

Can't wait for this movie... it's so frikkin long before it is released!
Mae govannen! I am called LadyLegolas, and when not walking beneath the mallorns of Lothlorien, practicing archery in Eryn Lasgalen, or simply singing in Imladris...I dwell in the U.S.A. I am rather new to the wonderful world of Tolkien, and hope to learn as much as I can. I love my God and my family above all else. I love Elves among all of the peoples of Middle-earth, and am truly convinced that I am a child of the Eldar whose ears simply refused to form correctly. I also have a strong affinity for archers and trees. Nature is simply breathtaking, is it not? Ah, God's creation...My favorite characters are Legolas, Beleg, Elladan, and Elrohir, but that is not to say that I do not simply adore the other characters as well. I have read LOTR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, the Tolkien Bestiary, The Children of Hurin, and am desperately searching for the Unfinished Tales and Histories of Middle-earth. The Lord of the Rings is my favorite film, and the books are some of my favorite reads of all time. The Hobbit is a favorite as well, and I look forward to its theatrical release with great enthusiasm!
Hello there LadyLegolas =)
I am Beren, and I reside in the U.S.A. I have been a Tolkien nut for a few years now, and have read all Tolkien books that came my way (including LOTR, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and half of the History of Middle Earth (series)).
Although I consider myself knowledgeable in the Tolkien realm, I am always ready to learn new things, and I often forget the things I do know. Among all my Tolkien knowledge, I am best-versed in subjects from the Silmarillion, but I'm learning more of LOTR from reading the History of the Lord of the Rings.
I'm really looking forward to The Hobbit movie, and have already saved money for my ticket (assuming tickets aren't $30 by the time the movie comes out, lol.) I also hope to see many movies made from The Silmarillion someday, perhaps when Christopher Tolkien has passed away. Perhaps then, younger, nicer relatives of Tolkien would be more willing for someone to use Tolkien's work for film.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and having some fun Tolkien-filled conversations!

-Beren
Greetings. I am 19 winter's old and I hail from Northwestern USA. I am a deep admirer of Tolkien's work. Actually, I got the Tolkien symbol tattooed on my back.. Some of my interests include Music (Folk/black metal, Classical), guitar, nature, reading, learning and merrymaking. I also have strong feelings towards nature. It's just too bad humans are destroying this earth...
Hi I am Aragonangel, i am Jamaica, i just love the LORD OF RINGS movies cant wait the last two films.
HI!!!
I'm from Argentina and a LOTR fun... like everybody else here, so we are on the right place to talk about this movie!!!

Saludos!!
Hi,
My name is Arwen, living in little Belgium, and i'm such big fan off Tolkien that i named my baby boy Rohan. A special name for a special boy. I hope to learn even more here about Tolkien, and I just can't wait for the Hobbit movies!!
Hi guys my name is Goldeneyes and i am 16 years ''OLD'' and i live in The Netherlands. I'm an huge fan of the LOTR films (my opinion is that the three films are the best ever made) and of the books. I also am a fan of the WOT serie that's where my name comes from. I do really hope the Hobbit movie will be very good and i just read somewhere tha the script makers are not talking about two movies but about one so i hope it will be an good one.
Hey everybody.
Bairdos here, hailing from the ever brilliant Scotland.
Been a Tolkien fan since my girlfriend got me reading the books, anything fantasy will always catch my eye.
Big sports fan, and gamer.
Hello fellow readers!

My "name" is avidreader... for obvious reasons and I live in the U.S.A. I have read the LOTR about 12 times (I'm obsessive, what can I say) and I have written a 12 page paper on the life of J.R.R Tolkien (which was basically amazing because he is such an amazing human being). I have a 12 hour LOTR extended edition movie marathon event at least once a year with my friends, so I am waiting anxiously for The Hobbit to be made into a cinematic masterpiece so that the 12 hour event can be extended to about 18 hours. I can't wait to get everyone's point of view on the movies (what will happen, what changes will be made, and who the HECK is going to be Bilbo???)!!!

oh, and Goldeneyes, I love your country! It's absolutely beautiful!
I am Barrel the Pony, and I live in Tasmania, which is very like New Zealand only there is less of everything. If you ever come to the state, visit the Southwest wilderness- it's the only place where mutant two-headed zombies haven't stomped mundane onto everything, and it is just like Middle Earth. By the way, I read the entire Lord of the Rings in four days on a trip by car to the Gold Coast, and have read it two or three times since. I have seen all the special features and audio commentaries on the extended DVD's, and can recite the Fellowship of the Ring film off by heart. Well, the first twenty minutes of it anyway, and various scenes after that.
By the way, does anyone know when Born of Hope is going to be released, or what the second prequel is going to be called?
By the way, does anyone know when Born of Hope is going to be released, or what the second prequel is going to be called?[/quote:1sulaytz]

I know that Born of Hope is supposed to come out in 2009. Beyond that, I don't know. You can ask on the Q&A page on their website: [url:1sulaytz]http://www.bornofhope.com[/url:1sulaytz]
Gandalfs Beard here, I am a British expat. brought to the USA as a youth. Now in my mid 40s I live in California. I am a huge Fantasy/Sci Fi fan and love original works which are difficult to find now as so much modern fiction merely rehashes the original masters. I must apologize to Barrel the Pony. In one of my posts on another thread I mistook you for an American.

Peace and Long Life
Gandalfs Beard
Hello! I am Otto's World. I have been a Tolkien fan for many years, but am not so experienced at blogging. I live in the western part of Washington State, USA, which really seems like it ought to be Tolkien's World because of all of the ferns and moss and tree life growing all over anything that stays still and horizontal for longer than 20 minutes out here. I'm looking forward to fun talks about the Hobbit movie.
Greetings One and All:

I am Anoran (name taken from the Sindarin Elves of Lorien) and reside in the USA. I was most pleased to find this forum as I am a recent but now thoroughly entrenched fan of
Tolkein and his works. I am an avid sci-fi/fantasy reader but never got around to reading Tolkein's books until the first LOTR movie was released. I can now say I have filled that void with my reading of Unfinished Tales, Silmarillion, The Hobbit and the LOTR "trilogy". Here is to many future enjoyable and enchanting conversations with all of you.
For non-Australians, the joke I made about the two headed zombies relates to a saying that Tasmanians have two heads, because of the lack of iodine in the soil, which means that a lot of Tasmanians get goitre, which leads to scars on the neck where they've had surgery.
heeey people !
im Sam! smshadow on here though..
im 19 years old from Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
Huge fan of tolkien and a huge fan of the lord of the rings!

I am also a huge fan of the hobbit books, lets hope the hobbit movie will let the dream and expectations become a reality! =]
Greetings. I am Strider, aka Jordan. I reside in Washington, USA. Im 17, and I've have read Tolkien since I was in my early teens. I have a pet wolf named Sauron, and a cousin named Frodo(they never get along!).
Mae govannen

I am Elrohir from Australia.

You might say I am a little obsessed with all things Tolkien. Personally i want to believe Middle Earth is a real place that we can go to when we leave this mortal life and Tolkien had some knowledge of it before he passed.

Yes I am a nut!
Personally i want to believe Middle Earth is a real place that we can go to when we leave this mortal life and Tolkien had some knowledge of it before he passed.[/quote:2p1bnpng]

I believe this very thing as well.
Hey there. This site is great for fans like myself. I cannot wait for the movie to come. It will be great. I guess I am not the only one who loves Aragorn...hey there arwen280! I live in the States and have been in love with the series when I started to read the Hobbit last year in January. Ever since then, I was hooked. nothin else to say. see ya
Hi I'm really happy to find this list. Since college I've been a serious fan of all things Middle Earth. The Hobbit and LOTR have always been a great source of comfort; I always find something new with every reading. Few people know what a LOTR geek I am - I like to keep it that way.

I just loved the movies; they looked and were wonderful although I would have liked to see stuff like the scouring of the shire, more of the Shire at the beginning, Barrow wights and so forth like others have said. I didn't like Elijah's Frodo too much either. But PJ et al put in some lovely touches and I can't wait to see what they and GDT can do with the Hobbit and its aftermath. For example I loved what they did with Aragorn who always seemed so wooden in the books- Viggo really brought him to life. I live in the eastern US near Philadelphia. Peace to all. Elbereth
Hello, I reside in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. I am a big fan of Tolkien, and I have been looking forward to a live action Hobbit movie for most of my life. The Hobbit was the first book I ever woke up with my face in.
Hello, all.
I just found this site while googling The Hobbit Movies. I am Isildion, aka Rish, from India. I have been a fan of Tolkien since my early teens. And I seriously got into fantasy fiction after I read Lewis, Rowling, Gaiman and a few other authors. When I went back into the world of Tolkien after the gap of a couple of years, I realised that the reading of the books brought deeper meanings which I had not seen earlier...which I feel is the hallmark of a fantastic book. The Silmarillion happens to be my favourite and after that I would say The Lord of the Rings. So when the Lord of the Rings trilogy came out on screen I was ecstatic! And waited so desperately for the Extended Editions to release!! So now, of course, The Hobbit is naturally something I would love to see on screen! The Silmarillion would be quite a task to make a movie(s) on. Anyhow, I am rambling...so I'll end this here.
Please, Ilsildion, ramble with abandon. Glad you found the site.
And Ilsildion, feel free to ramble on Silmarillion. To date we have some really good threads going on the subject.
I am in complete agreement with Show and Otto's World Ilsildion. We love Ramblers here!!! We'll have to change the name and lyrics of the Kenny Rogers song.

HI,

I'm jrjhoe. I live in the Netherlands, and I'm a HUGE Tolkien fan. I want to be one of the first to hear news from the Hobbit movie. so I thought I'd register here!
I love that we have many different parts of the world represented here!

Anyway, I am Elfearz and I am a 21 year old college student born and raised in California, USA. I have been a Tolkien fan for quite a few years. In fact, I was rather known for it in High School and even a member of a Tolkien book club that met weekly. I can't wait for the Hobbit movie! It is about time it gets a movie. *In elderly voice* Kids these days have it just too darn easy an author writes a book and it isn't released but two days and some hollywood big wig is talkin' 'bout makin' a movie outta it. (Just Kidding :P ) The Hobbit is my favorite Tolkien book I've read so far and actually my favorite book by any author that I have read so far.

Glad to be here!
Oh by the way, for anyone curious... I picked my screen name, because I do indeed really have pointy ears. I used to be embarrassed by it, but now I think it is kinda cool.
Nice to meet you Elfearz . Maybe you are part elf . That's pretty cool 8-) . I keep hoping the Elves will return. This is a good sign  .

[b:9mm8l4le]Gandalf's Beard[/b:9mm8l4le]
Nice to meet you too! Thanks for the warm welcome.
hehe Wouldn't that be something?
Hello all! I call myself Eldorion, which is [i:1kgh8uw8]not[/i:1kgh8uw8] a misspelling of "Eldarion", but rather the name of a role-playing character of mine. I'm anxious to see The Hobbit, but I'm a bit apprehensive by some of what I've heard from PJ and GDT, which suggests to me that they want to expand the movies far beyond the scope of the original story.

So yeah, that's me.
Hi there,

I'm Ecthelion (of the fountain) glad to finally be part of what I've heard from Arkenstone is a great blogging spot. 8-)

Hope to get to discuss things with you all soon enough!

"May the blessing of Elves and Men and all Free Folk go with you.
May the stars shine upon your faces!"

"fly you fools"
I'm Oakenshield. Glad to be here.

I'm from the U.S.. and I absolutely LOVE.. The Hobbit. Almost as much as Lord Of The Rings.
Hi,

Im Arkenstone, I love anything LOTR, I am from the UK,

So thats about it

Arkenstone
Greetings all!

You can call me trin, if you don't feel like typing out my whole screen name (like I do sometimes. ).

I hail from Southwestern Colorado, in the United States.

I was pretty much raised on Tolkien and other high fantasy books, but I definently find Tolkien's works the greatest. As it is, I love anything to do with fantasy or sci fi.
Hi B'arelyn Dwarf hows it hanging, come from Dorset, Lyme Regis in the UK, didn't notice there was a `new members' forum, so I have made some posts without introducing my self so sorry. Can't wait for Christmas in two years time btw!

Oh and hi to Arkenstone fellow Britain, where do you come from in the UK?
Holy Cow B'arelyn :o . I was born in London but Poole, Dorset is my real home. I spent a lot of my childhood there with my Mum and Grandparents. I was last back there in '99 after Grandma died to settle her estate. I almost didn't want to come back to the USA, I felt so at home again  . I love Lyme Regis, and visit every time I go back. I miss the Fish n' Chips and Pork Pies the most .

And no worries about posting before introductions. We're not too fussed about formalities here. But Welcome, and I look forward to seeing you around the forum.

[b:jo0p89g0]GB[/b:jo0p89g0]
Thats very strange! Have to say though, I don't really know Poole that well, I know there is a big ferry port there and that it is very sea-sidey in terms of the town. My Grandmother lived in Morcomblake which is quite near to Bridport, I spent alot of time there when I was little, went there every Saturday. Oh and Btw You are right about the fish and chips from Lyme Regis! Have you visited the Cobb there?
Yeah, I walked along the Cobb and ate lunch there the last time I was there. Pork pie and salt and vinegar crisps if I recall correctly  . I love the view. Some of my other favourite bits of Dorset are Corfe Castle and Brownsea Island. Bournemouth used to be nicer, but it's so crowded nowadays. And Picnics on the green rolling hills of the country-side are awesome (you can tell I'm a hobbit because I love my food  ).

[b:1gb6utov]GB[/b:1gb6utov]
I have to ask B'arelyn Dwarf, what did you come up with your signature block?
Sorry, um just asking though, what do you meen by that? I'll admit It's a bit on the rubbish side if that what your saying lol!
Oh and Btw GB, thats a strange coinsedence, have you ever been to Morcomblake, a very small village just the other side of Lyme, past Charmouth? If you have, you might have remembered Goldencap and Stonebarrow? Two very memerable and pleasant walks to do in the area?
I remember Morcomblake, B'arelyn ; but I don't think I've done those walks. At least not in Adult memory  . As a kid, it's quite possible, as I don't remember all the day-trips .

And I think Show was asking [i:281zutpq][b:281zutpq]How[/b:281zutpq][/i:281zutpq] you came up with your signature. But he might have meant your Avatar (which is cool 8-) btw). Some of us have been known to post under conditions of insomnia . and typos can be the result  .

[b:281zutpq]GB[/b:281zutpq]
Hi, my name is Jonas Stjärnborg and I'm from Linköping, Sweden.
29 years of age.

I started reading Tolkiens Lord of the Ring when I was seven, and instantly fell deep in love with the fantasy-genre.

Unfortunatley my dear parents didn't find it necessary for me to have the book Bilbo, so my Tolkien experience came to a halt.
I spent several years lost in the worlds of Robert Jordan and David Eddings instead.
Until I, by random, stumbled upon a collection of Tolkiens work, Tales of Middle Earth, Bilbo, Marillion and so on. I thought it was best to buy the entire set.
Welcome Peregrin. Sweden is one of my favourite countries that I have never visited . It's excellent you have been able to finally collect some of the Essential Tolkien books.

[b:1g01qj78]GB[/b:1g01qj78]
Great to find so many people from so many different countries, can really spruce up conversation! . And welcome to the Forums, that too  .
