Sometimes the forum gets a bit hot under the collar and we all feel the need to let of steam by adding some humour to lighten things a bit. We all joined the forum and at some point gave an intro of ourselves. However its always good to be nosey or silly and get to know a little bit more. Well here is the place for a little extra silliness. Afterall a little bit of noseyness also helps us to get to know each other better, a bit like a constant reintroduction. I am going to start of with a nosey one. I will give you a fact about myself and ask you to reply with a specific nosey fact. Fact I started learning slight of hand coin magic a couple of years ago but realised that to get really good you have to put in a huge amount of practice. If I had more time, more dedication and less distractions I would learn close up magic especially coin tricks. Question My question is what do you wish you could do if you had more dedication, more time and less distractions?
My question is what do you wish you could do if you had more dedication, more time and less distractions?[/quote:2pb82yyy] Fact: I've always wanted to be able to actually learn another language, rather than just slip through the required three semesters, but I have trouble with it and thus get frustrated stop as soon as possible.
Also, I appreciate your making this thread Noom, because I think it's good for everyone to have a reminder not to be a drama llama. [img:nmyifq8q]http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/tt259/ek_lotr/1330039550_81af683fc0.jpg[/img:nmyifq8q]
I want to be the next Peter Jackson! [b:2tj81lt8]GB[/b:2tj81lt8]
What secrets the Tyrant has he shall keep! Well except for the ones involving Buckie, Duckie, picnics and different inventive, varied, imaginative and exhaustively researched ways to punish PJ.
Petty, if you don't respond you will lose your right to ask your nosey question, people might also hold their tongues. Come on there must be something you would want to do if you could get past your own excuses that stop you.
Privacy is a form of dignity. As is the ability to discern what is an appropriate thing to say and what is not. And when to stop.
I, of course, will not partake of this silliness --- not respectable. Sorry! You know how serious I am. I hide nothing under a bushell*! :x :x :x *I hope I spelled "bushell" right! :?
Respectability is overrated. :P
Clearly! [b:2g4kch0t]GB[/b:2g4kch0t]
I would think that [i:2k4rcitv]Odo[/i:2k4rcitv] of all people would realize that. 8-)
You need to learn some Elvish then, to be ready to impress the girl you take to see The Hobbit.[/quote:21b4b9ix] She can't speak Elvish either, so I think I'll be okay.
The way to get to a girls heart, is speaking Elvish, Eldorion!
I was seriously thinking of learning French --- maybe Elvish would serve my purposes better.
"The way to get to a girls heart, is speaking Elvish, Eldorion!"- Ally I suspect that is true only under special circumstances, such as a Tolkien convention (or in Ally's local!) I suspect speaking elvish to a woman, in say the surrounds of a randomly chosen nightclub, would be about as successful a pulling technique as speaking Klingonese! I think you would get a lot use out of 'Namarie' in one night however.
Funnily enough, Robert Anton Wilson was a long time local luminary where I live 8-) . Saw him lecture a couple of times. My Radio Programmer buddy introduced me to him and we chatted several times and shared pipeweed on at least one occasion. He was quite a Curmudgeonly Raconteur. Petty, you would have loved him  . He was a pretty Radical Dude, on the cutting edge of politics (for all his talk of Left and Right in public, he was pretty much an Anarcho-Socialist type), philosophy, science, and...ahem...illicit psychedelic substances. I miss the dude. [b:2n8r16ww]GB[/b:2n8r16ww]
One of my favourite commentators on the 20th century Mr Wilson. Cosmic Trigger and Quantum Psychology have proud places on my bookshelf. I envy you greatly GB that you got to spend some quality time with him (and if it involved pipeweed I'm guessing it was quality time . A 'Curmudgeonly Raconteur'- you do know that's the title I aspire to!
IF I didn't have school, I'd write as much as I could!!! But life is stressful sometimes. And it's always attractive when a man speaks ANY other language than English!!! (especially Italian/French!)
Clearly Tin you are yet to hear full tilt Glaswegian. Technically its still English but just sounds like another language and somehow I don't think it would feature very high up the list of romantic world dialects. It makes German sound soft and gentle on the ear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kuZICFk ... re=related Warning- this is scottish so by definition its sweary. We swear saying good morning. (Best thing about it is the long suffering women on the phone- its hard to phase a scottish woman).

[/quote:2il4mlri] looks like I'll have to continue studying French when I go to the university then
I spent a few years on Hebrew but would also like to take on Arabic at some point. My Gaelic teacher moved on and the classes stopped. I love languages.
Nobody's being silly enough for this thread. [img:e9tsmmf3]http://forums.randi.org/images/smilies/break.gif[/img:e9tsmmf3] [b:e9tsmmf3]GB[/b:e9tsmmf3]
Out of curiosity, how old are you, Ringdrotten? (If you don't mind me asking.) For some reason I assumed you were older.... Maybe your original Gandalf avatar. :P
Thought I mentioned somewhere that I was fairly young, but that's probably my imagination. I'm 18, so far from any grumpy old beard :x
Still older than me though.
My account is still locked... I have no idea how to contact ady! -Allywholockedheraccount!
ady <at> the-hobbit-movie <dot> com 8-)
'Nobody's being silly enough for this thread.' - GB As you know I am never silly. However I give you this short bit of poetry from an author I am hugely enjoying at the moment, silly like Lewis Carrol or Edward Lear. “Bumstinger! Bumstinger! Run for your life! Cover your bums, It’ll jab like a knife!” You've no idea how much I laughed at this in its context, which is too long to give, so you will have to enjoy it as is for its silliness and sense of fun.
Well, this is silly. I came onto the forum and every subject said "Nov 22 pettytyrant101" That was odd!!!! haha!  And this is silly. some guy in my italian class said that there was an 18 hour version of ROTK. I said, "HAH! I know everything about LOTR, there IS no 18 hour version!" But he insisted. And it wasn't the extended edition he said with all of the extra material. Is this peculiar or what? I think he was lying, but he is kind of credible...
and now... (finally) 500 POSTS!!!!!!!![/size:28eadse8]
Whooo! ~Ally.

The only thing I can imagine him referring to was the original rough cuts prior to editing, but those haven't been released to the public (and are unlikely to be since they're just rough drafts). :?
