Hi, Having popped on to the site a few times, keen to learn any news about the upcoming Hobbit movies, finally decided that I should register for the forum. I've never joined a forum of any kind before - so please be gentle! I've never been one for reading books and as a young teenager read the first two chapters of The Hobbit several times before giving up. Once I finally managed to read a little further in - I was totally hooked on Tolkien's world and found LOTR impossible to put down. I have to say that I loved the LOTR movies, regardless of the story changes.
Welcome Stephen, I think a few folks on here, myself included, were new to the forum lark when we joined here- I found it such a congenial place I never left! I hope you have a similar experience.
Welcome to the forum! I've been on various forums for a while but I spent months and months learning the ropes, so I can sympathize with being new. I think most people get acclimated faster than I did, though. Hope to see you around; feel free to jump into any discussion you like!
Couldn't have picked a better "first" forum Welcome!
Greetings and Welcome Stephen  . Most of us are Kind and Gentle folk, but you will soon figure out that the Crabbits are Crunchy on the outside and Soft on the inside . Love your Avatar!!! I used it as a logo for my British/Irish store (that I used to have ) because it's the coolest flag in the UK and also because it's part of my heritage (Gramps was Welsh, Gran was Irish and English. I was born in London and grew up in Dorset). [b:17jec253]GB[/b:17jec253]
Are Principalities allowed a flag?
[quote="pettytyrant101":1tlswzoe]Are Principalities allowed a flag? [/quote:1tlswzoe] Thanks for the welcome. I think our little principality should be allowed a flag - After all we're a little underepresented on the Union Jack flag, as the cross of St.David is not incorporated in to the design.
They should have the dragon on the Union Jack. Anything can be improved by a nice dragon logo. And on the plus side when the country sinks into ruin and chaos (about next Tuesday way things are going) you'll be the only bit of the UK that can burn the flag and not feel like your burning a bit of your own! We Scots will just have to settle for setting light to Tories (as usual).

Oh wait, that's the English...I suppose the Scots were cheering on when he tried to blow up Parliament. (Though, come to think about it, they were probably also cheering on when the Catholic Guy Fawkes broke his own neck before being hanged) [b:3s1yv3wy]GB[/b:3s1yv3wy]
We'll cheer at anything that is a) violent b) funny c) involves the rich getting hurt. d) involves anyone English getting hurt When its all four we have a national holiday.
Well it means if you fall down and hurt yourself its still 1/8 funnier than someone else doing it!

I think it should cancel out the English bit. (Poor English folk hate the Tory English too you know) [b:2l8kgiy4]GB[/b:2l8kgiy4]
:? getting worried here! Can I declare yorkshire a principality?
You should know by now GB, NOTHING can cancel out the English bit, sorry. But Kafria you have no worries. All Scots know the English moved the border north so they got some proper countryside. You pass the 'really Scottish underneath' test. You hate the 'true' English (aristocracy and anyone from the South or who looks like a horse). And you know how to drink properly (ie enough to make most other nations fall down but in which state you can still find your way home, in the dark, on a rough single track road with no pavements, up a sheer hillside with horizontal rain and snow).
Hello and welcome! Wales is a great country! In fact one of the best counties ever! (Yes, I'm calling it a country!) The flags nice as well, I have a pair of trainers with it on! Welcome!

Make up your mind. [b:3j8ue8vi]GB[/b:3j8ue8vi] PS: I think of the UK as being much like the name implies: Three countries + Northern Ireland United under one banner. I'm too much of a mongrel to think otherwise.
Its simple. If your national flag isn't part of the Union Jack- you ain't a country. Sorry Wales- I like you lot, kindred Celts, but its your own fault for letting all those Normans build ruddy great castles all over you. Should have done what the Scots did, stripped naked, painted ourselves blue and nicked all the bricks. (Well would you try to stop a hundred naked hairy Highlanders screaming and painted blue from taking your bricks?)
