Tennant [i:29w7dv8m]again[/i:29w7dv8m]? I think some reporter was a bit too eager to jump on the bandwagon of Hobbit news, but hey, I've been wrong before. :P
Two Doctors in one film! What an odd thing to happen if it does.
You obviously don't watch enough Medical Dramas, Mr Tyrant. Sometimes your ignorance amazes me.
UPDATE: Simon posted this on Twitter this morning. “Woah, woah, woah I did NOT confirm Martin Freeman was in The Hobbit. As far as I know, talks are ongoing. Hope he is. Great choice.”[/quote:1j1m6pk4] I really should have taken my own advice from another thread about being cautious when TORn goes into excited fanboy mode.
Hype triumphs over truth yet again!
When HASN'T it?
So cynical so young Tin? I do despair of youth these days I was the wrong side of my twenties before true crabbitiness began to take hold (PJ just finished the job for me).
So cynical so young Tin? [/quote:2w4u7m6h] She must have spent too much time around you. <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' /> :P
[i:ikto70sj]Eldo is a cheeky lad, All the Sages say it -- As do all the Rosemary Thymes, Camomiles and gay wits! [/i:ikto70sj] <img src='/images/smileys/bigsmile.gif' border='0' alt='Big Smile Smilie' /> Edward Lear: Lost Scribbles. Wise Odo
It pains me to admit it, but I've missed your channeling, Wisey.
Glad to see you back to Oracular Odo. [b:1eer9tqo]GB[/b:1eer9tqo]
Why the pain, Eldo? :? Funny thing, GB - I almost used Piglet as a rhyme - which makes me think of Charlotte's Web - which makes me think of Oracular Pigs - and me being a "Pig" (of sorts! :x) - everything comes together ---- the connectivity of the aforesaid string of ideas is queer in a way - but that's String Theory for you! <img src='/images/smileys/bigsmile.gif' border='0' alt='Big Smile Smilie' /> [i:2h316t2b] Oh painful it is to give slight praise, Said Johnny Depp to Maggie May, Then Rod Stewart upped and said, Many a pain moans inside my head, Ideas, Archetypes, all kinds of things, Not one String but lots of Strings![/i:2h316t2b] From "Life: A Circus of Strings" by Bob Geldoff ('tis a weird place inside Bob's head! ) Wise Odo
Well HOORAH! for Martin Freeman!!!!! It feels good that at least SOMETHING is going my way with this movie...
So what do we do with this thread now?
Well, clearly this thread is "Actors [plural] to play Bilbo." My theory is they'll have a young actor to play Bilbo at the beginning and an older actor about half way through (when Bilbo begins to come-of-age so to speak, to fit in with the seriouser part of the book - White Council stuff, and Bilbo the heroic warrior, and all that). The change could be when he finds the ring and escapes from the Goblin tunnels - like a rebirth from a dark womb, a Newborn carrying the stain of Sin (personified by the Ring). Makes perfect sense. Very mythological. JRRT would surely approve. :ugeek: The only question that remains is - will Freeman play the Young Bilbo or Slightly Older But Still Quite Attractive Bilbo? :?: :?: :?:
Yeeeeah ... if they have two actors I can't imagine it would be for anything other than a framing device of Bilbo recounting his adventure to younger Hobbits. In which case Freeman would clearly be the younger Bilbo as he isn't that old.
You and your straight bat, Eldo!
I can't deny that your idea sounds very interesting, but it seems a bit to serious for a fairy tale like [i:1kuc5fv4]The Hobbit[/i:1kuc5fv4]. :P
 Playing a straight bat is a Cricket term (just in case you're not familiar with it). Though you might use it in baseball? I don't know. In the sense I use the term it means giving a direct response to another person's assertions however whimsical they might be. I might very well be explaining something you're already well aware of - I apologise if that's the case!
I've actually never heard that term (I don't follow baseball so I'm not sure if it's used there), so thank you for the explanation. <img src='/images/smileys/bigsmile.gif' border='0' alt='Big Smile Smilie' /> I do tend to take things rather literally and/or seriously, I admit.
I'd have it no other way.
Aaaw, you know how to flatter a forum Hobbit, Odo. 8-)
(((Lure them into the Spammonet - with a little honey...)))
The. High. Is. Too. Damn. Rented. Must. Get. HIGHER! [b:2xwx0wyj]GB[/b:2xwx0wyj]
(((I knew it was coming.... they've been signs lately... GB has been puffing his pipe to often! )))
What happened to the old, respectable GB? :?
I'm as respectable as anyone else on this forum. <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' /> [b:w7ysd7ft]GB[/b:w7ysd7ft]
I'm as respectable as anyone else on this forum. <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' /> [/quote:4xrn2xs7] So you mean not at all? :P
Indeed! [b:6z57f9ir]GB[/b:6z57f9ir]
