Bottom of Page Message Board > The Hobbit (Movie) > Help around extras, swordfights and stunts
Hello,
we are the Order of the Silver Dragon from Croatia (Europe). We do medieval reenactment, sword fighting, armour makin etc.
We also publish first Croatian fantasy magazine called Grifon. You can see our photos on our web page http://www.srebrnizmaj.com/index_eng.htm (direct english version link)
We need "your" help - since we are great fans of Tolkien and the books adaptation we would like to preform (if that's possible) stunts in battle scenes (free of charge) in new movie - in Hobbit.
Do you know how to get in touch with anybody from (pre) production of the Hobbit movie? Got any ideas?
Keep posting this on different forums. As others have said, they check these forums to see what the fans are thinking. Just try to put yourself out there!
Unfortunately many of us mods are just obsessive fans just like the rest of you  . I don't have any inside info myself. But one could probably start by trying to contact WB or New Line from one of their websites and working up the chain until you find someone working on the production.

Good Luck. Your costumes look brilliant.

Tnx for the advice - do you maby have links to other forums?

BTW we are not so interested in "ordinary" extras for the movie....we want to participate in battle scenes as stunts (and off course, if there will be need we can do the ordinary extras jobs).
We practice sword fighting and battle fights with medieval weapons, and since we are skilled with weapons we would like to offer our "swords" and "axes" in battle and fighting scenes.
We have some experience with filming movies, we often preform on knight tournaments and medieval fairs, and once we even did couple "amateur" LOTR show with Zagreb philharmonic. Budget for that show was 0 money - we got no money for costumes so we had to improvise (and we had only one day to prepare)...it turned out to be pretty good - we even scared small kids, and the had to leave the music hall.

I'll post couple of photos form that show....and do mind that was amateur, althou we, as the group, are professionals - you can see that from first photo 8-)

PS: sorry form my bad english

Uruk hai...man of Dunland...done in 30 minutes with no budget for masks or costumes (even if we had some budget there was no time, because we were contacted day before the show/concert)

You and your organisation look like very talented actors, I think that acting is of more importantance than special effects and the budget, as demonstated (although I quite like them ) the Starwars Episodes 1-3.

I think your costumes to be quite convincing btw despite what you say, maybe your problem with them is that they don't match the level of acting you have, you outdo the costumes. .

As for info I'm sorry but I can't help there, I think one of the moderators who use the forum more frequently might be able to help you.
Your organization looks very professional SilverDragon. Also, your English is very good, better than many native speakers I have seen.

I don't know how you would get in contact with people about working as extras or stunt people, but you could probably poke around on the internet to look for contact information for people. The best way would probably be to go to New Zealand and ask people there since, if they follow the same process as with LOTR, they'll probably look their first. If that's not possible though the internet is the next best thing.

Sorry to not be more of a help.
I'm glad you like our costumes.....and tnx for the advices
