Sam never did expect to see an Oliphaunt one day. [b:10h6ce7z]GB[/b:10h6ce7z]
REVERSE SCOOP GIVING! Someone on TORN's forums (but not their blog!) mentioned that McCoy is confirmed to be in Auckland, NZ for a convention, which is an interesting coincidence (or is it not a coincidence?)..... I am sorry, but I'm (losing the will to live) not sure if the films's going ahead, anybody any the wiser. Nods off................... Vision On ..................(in joke there for Brit's of a certain age...........
Wow he moves fast. Other side of the world already! He must have got to keep the Tardis when he left Dr Who!
I got the Arkenstone,[/size:il3skayb] Today I managed to get in on the interview with Sylvester McCoy in Dunoon Stadium. A reporter friend who had a personal slot with him asked a question on my behalf, "Is it true that you are going to be cast in the Hobbit as Bilbo?" I also got my picture taken with him and his autograph for my son who is sick in bed today. Well, what did he answer? I am keeping his answer under wraps until given permission by the reporter, which will be this week some time. The news is good but unexpected. Baron Ironfang[/quote:il3skayb]
Yahoo, quicker than I thought:[/size:il3skayb] Mr McCoy told the Standard that contrary to widespread internet rumours, he's not vying for the role of Bilbo in The Hobbit (due to start filming next year) - but is one of two actors being considered for one of the wizard parts. "I am being cast in The Hobbit," he said. "We're currently in negotiations - there are two of us under consideration. It's not the Bilbo role, but could be bigger." For the whole interview go here: http://www.dunoon-observer.com/index.ph ... g-new-role[/quote:il3skayb]
[img:il3skayb]http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f97/HawkeyeTheNoo/augfamily003.jpg[/img:il3skayb] [img:il3skayb]http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f97/HawkeyeTheNoo/augfamily002.jpg[/img:il3skayb][/quote:il3skayb]
Since the quoting made the URL invisible: :P [url:1kl9cnjc]http://www.dunoon-observer.com/index.php/news/1-news/827-chieftain-confirms-exciting-new-role[/url:1kl9cnjc] As I said, very interesting news, Baron. Thanks for the information. 8-)
Why thankyou Sir Eldorion, I am surprised that the mods are so slow off the mark with news that is a scoop for this forum from one of its members. I thought that by now it would be on the web page as well as the forum.
The mods aren't able to update the blog on the main site: only ady can do that.
McCoy to play Radagast the Brown. http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2010/08 ... the-brown/
That's the exact same story that the Baron broke, chris. In fact, the only reason TORn got it is because I sent them the link because I figured it was worth spreading around. That McCoy is playing Radagast, however, is an assumption by TORn's reporter. We don't know who exactly he'll be, or if he'll be chosen over the anonymous other person being considered. <img src='/images/smileys/smile.gif' border='0' alt='Smile Smilie' />
As long as he doesnt play Bilbo, i didnt like him playing Dr Who. Bilbo and Frodo were about the same age when they had their adventures, so you would think Bilbo would be played by a younger actor.
Bilbo and Frodo were about the same age when they had their adventures, so you would think Bilbo would be played by a younger actor.[/quote:26fmj5up] Frodo had the Ring that kept his physical appearance at that of a Hobbit of 33, though. Bilbo didn't get the Ring until he was already 50, which is where his appearance was 'frozen'. That said, one would still expect an actor younger than McCoy (who is nearing 70) to portray Bilbo. I think he'd work well as Radagast, though.
Let it not be said that a southerner from Harad does not have any nobility; congratulations Baron for getting this information for the Hobbit movie forum.
Dang! Petty must be seething to be out-scooped by one of his characters. <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' /> [b:rhxyeud1]GB[/b:rhxyeud1]
The Baron in Petty's book is an adaption of a character already created and played. I wished that I had the opportunity to bring Petty in on this, however the opportunity was closed to all but myself. I could have sat back and done nothing and left it, I thought the forum would prefer to have this scoop than not have it at all. Maybe I should have kept the information to myself and no one would be feeling put out. I admire your loyalty to petty GB, but I thought that the forum came first.
I wonder if Ady could email you an official Hobbit forum "Press" Pass Petty <img src='/images/smileys/bigsmile.gif' border='0' alt='Big Smile Smilie' /> . This could be a real scoop for us. If you land the interview, you should record it and transcribe it. Maybe Ady could even put it up on his blog. [b:30a2aqag]GB[/b:30a2aqag][/quote:30a2aqag] I guess when it does not come from a major poster that it is not such a scoop afterall.
Now, now, Baron. It was just a little joke at [b:2ldhw158]Petty's[/b:2ldhw158] expense. <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' /> No dig at you was intended at all. I'm jolly pleased we actually beat Onering to it. But I must admonish Eldo for giving Onering a heads-up before Ady had a chance to post it on his blog. :P [b:2ldhw158]GB[/b:2ldhw158]

Quote: "I am being cast in The Hobbit," he said. "We're currently in negotiations - there are two of us under consideration. It's not the Bilbo role, but could be bigger." "But could be bigger"... I hope that doesn't mean that Radagast will be a bigger role than Bilbo. Radagast is only briefly mentioned in the book, and not a part of the white council, unless they make him a part of it in the film. On the other hand though, Radagast is one of those characters I would have liked to read more about, for some reason I love this character. So if they do decide to go ahead and give Radagast some more attention in the film(s), I won't complain. At least not until I see the movie. If I don't like what I see, I'll just join with the Purists
Smells like Liberal Spirit...
Yup  I've not surrendered to the Purists yet!
I could have sat back and done nothing and left it, I thought the forum would prefer to have this scoop than not have it at all.[/quote:cy6aopgo] [b:cy6aopgo]I[/b:cy6aopgo] am glad to have the scoop! I think it's great that you and your reporter friend were able to score that interview, which is now making its rounds across the Internet. You're practically internet-famous, Baron!
Quite clearly Baron, Ady didn't put it on the main page as he did not trust the sources! Now if it had come from an uber-member such as myself (Ady and I are very close you know, like blood brothers in fact-did you know his real surname is 'Minister' which is odd cause his real forename isn't Ady!), but if I had got the scoop it would have been trumpeted from the rooftops and everyone would have been throwing laurel wreaths, celebrating and buying me drinks (Buckie please-in a pint glass). As a new member you Baron are of course treated poorly and contemptuously by the established board as is only right and proper. Besides by asking a 'real' (its our local paper I use the term loosely) reporter to ask the question in [i:1wqctz1w]their[/i:1wqctz1w] interview you forfeited the exclusive and gave it to the paper! A child like mistake to make and where is the fun in it? Where's the stocking through the tartan hunting down your quarry? Where's the disguising yourself as a piper to get close enough to fire a sleeping dart at him from a chanter? Where's the kidnapping and torture until he reveals details of the script? An amateur attempt all round I'm sure the entire world would agree with me! Now on with more serious matters- such as who will he play. Radagast? I don't like that idea if only because it confirms my fears they've gone and made a whole lot of nonsense up again like they did in TT and RotK. And unless they've really written Radagast up into something substantial Mr McCoy's words about the role he is up for would seem to be overstating the importance and size. So I still think Bilbo is the most likely, main role Bilbo or and old Bilbo telling the story is the question there however? He is a bit too old to play Bilbo, especially as Bilbo was a hobbit 50. Middle aged. Whereas Mr McCoy has definitely passed middle age. As to can he act Eldo, yes I believe he can. He played the role of the Doctor in Doctor Who. He was the Doctor when it got taken of the air and put on 'holiday' for many years. And so he gets a lot of blame for that- but in truth it was the BBC who destroyed it with underfunding and moving it around the schedules. But his main work as far as I am aware is in theater and he has been an actor for many years and is still working at his age- on that basis alone he must be competent enough.

Ps, Petty, I am the one who created YOU <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' /> You would not be half as Petty as you are if it were not for The Baron Ironfang. What is this forum coming to when they allow common peasants to climb the ranks. The peasants are revolting, yes indeed they most certainly are.
I bet you were sober too at the time Baron. You did not even have the common Scotsdale decency to be drunk and abusive. You only heap further disgrace on your name and nation with this sort of sober behaviour. Since when did the Scots nation go through official channels and do things properly? Is that what made us the belligerent drunken drug fueled nation we are today? I think not. I may have tried to get an interview but that was just good manners- I didn't actually expect it to work. No, before you ruined it all in your sober way I had everything in hand. A plan was afoot. Daring, exciting, cunning and not a little bit insane. And all it needed was one drunken pipe band, a big firework, a large inflatable swimming pool full of jelly (that comes in at the end) a retired army colonel, a spoon bender and the scarf worn by Tom Bakers Dr Who. And three Highland dancers (that's where the inflatable pool and the jelly come in- nothing to do with the main plan but all I'm saying is they could crack walnuts with those thighs). But no Baron you ruined it all by doing it the boring way. I bet you didn't even moon him as you left.
This is the type of writing that Petty produces above when I do not enter his mind. When he is writing his novel, I enter his psyche; Petty does automatic writing from what I place in his mind. In fact at best he is a ghost writer; at worst he is a peasant reaching above his station with delusions of noble authorship. As to being a Scot, I am not from your world, I am from Futura and the Barony of Northholt, I dimension traveled to aid your feeble earthling attempts. I guess technically, since I demonsion travelled, you could call me a Demon. If you want to find out how to do it, first of all you would no longer have to be a peasant, and then I could demon-strate it. If you are lucky Petty and act with nobility between now and the next full moon, I may knight you. I think the saying goes like this, once a king always a king but once a knights enough; unless you are a female or a lycanthrope (thin dividing line you know) then the last part of the saying is, once a months enough.
 [img:33uixr7g]http://www.narniaweb.com/forum/images/smilies/24.gif[/img:33uixr7g] [b:33uixr7g]GB[/b:33uixr7g]
Wow, I'm glad that I'm on the good side of the inter-dimensional demon.
He doesn't have a good side Eldo. Its a boiling mass of suppressed envy and ego.
He doesn't have a good side Eldo. Its a boiling mass of suppressed envy and ego.[/quote:142jjyu2] Remember how you should address your betters petty, it is Sir Eldorion.
Wow, I'm glad that I'm on the good side of the inter-dimensional demon.[/quote:142jjyu2] Much more than on my good side Sir Eldorion; you are no longer a peasant, I knighted you, made you rich in Futuran gold and built for you a log cabin holiday home beside a lake at the fortress of lore. The gold I gave you is more than enough to build a manor house with tower house attached and see you into retirement. All this because I saw the nobility that was within you. You did not even have to sell your soul or sign a contract in blood. You recieved it and were gifted it in good faith. Baron Ironfang
Alright now, this is ridiculous. If anyone deserves a spanking IT'S ELDORION :x :P who gave away the scoop to Onering, instead of immediately contacting Ady who could have then been the first to run it on his blog. Eldo, consider yourself DULY CHASTISED. :P [b:2d5srnwa]GB[/b:2d5srnwa]
Eldorion got a mention on TORN! You have officially made it on the interweb now.
Eldo, the next time we get a scoop, try not to give it away to the enemy. :P [b:21gj7kpo]GB[/b:21gj7kpo]
Just as well I didn't get the scoop Eldo. If you'd given it away to the other lot I'd be hunting you down armed with a case of Buckie!
The forum is part of ady's site, right? :P I figured he'd seen it or would see it soon enough but I wanted to spread the word. I didn't know they were going to put my name on it though. Or that we're enemies with TORN. And in terms of being first, it was the Observer/Standard that was first. :P
Eldo, I'm sure you're just as capable of CONTACTING ADY (or PMing me and having me email Ady) as you are of contacting Onering. :x And as the reporter wouldn't have bothered asking the question if not for his friend Noom/Ironfang, the scoop does indeed belong to this forum. Instead of digging yourself deeper with rationalizations and excuses, just 'Fess Up, take your Drubbing like a Man, Apologize, and we can get on with things. [b:vmxrnqpn]GB[/b:vmxrnqpn]
Eldo, I'm sure you're just as capable of CONTACTING ADY (or PMing me and having me email Ady) as you are of contacting Onering. :x [/quote:3012w62e] I didn't think I had to since this is [b:3012w62e]ady's site[/b:3012w62e]! :? I assume ady is familiar with what goes on on his site. I'm sorry I ruined the event for anyone but I wasn't trying to. I just made a post about this in another thread which might interest you to read.
I think it best we blame you, Eldo... for the greater good, you know.
Hide your head in shame. [img:antet25d]http://i37.tinypic.com/295afll.jpg[/img:antet25d]
One is yours truly on the day I got the scoop, the other is Radagast to be: [img:14e84vcl]http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f97/HawkeyeTheNoo/DSC_0582.jpg[/img:14e84vcl]
Award season is over Noom!! <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' /> To late to sway the judges. You'll just need to go one better this year. <img src='/images/smileys/bigsmile.gif' border='0' alt='Big Smile Smilie' />
