There is no right section for this but here it goes.
so i am reading sil now for the sixth time and i got a goofy idea.
If the council were the valar who would be whom.
Im not sure did i choose the right words but i think you can figure it out from that.
grep would problably be eru
and grondy mandos
Thread: IF the council were valar
i think this would be better:
Grondy= Eru
Valedgewel= Mandos
Vee= Orome
Grep= Aule
Virumor= Tulkas
Amarie= Yavanna
Grondy= Eru
Valedgewel= Mandos
Vee= Orome
Grep= Aule
Virumor= Tulkas
Amarie= Yavanna
Edit: Virumor = Melkor for sure, he loves the guy...
That's why i said Tulkas 'cause the guy gave melkor his due although i always think that melkor is a terrible disgrace for the most powerful vala that ever was.
For that reason too, lol...
Are you saying that vir is a disgrace
Well, Grep is Eru. This is his planet after all.
I am Mandos, and I know what has happend and will happen to people who tries to pick a fight with the Council or a Council Member. But since LoA is so fond of Melkor and admires him so, I choose to see this as LoA trying to say that Vir is a really cool guy. Ok? Good! Now, let's get back to the topic of this thread. Something tells me that I won't be seening many posts saying I am like Estë, but it is interesting to see how people see us.

Although Melkor was a Vala, dear Amarië, he gave up that title and became the Enemy, hence he is not counted amongst that order anymore. There are only fourteen, and one who lost his name amongst them.
That said, I wanted to be Irmo or Ulmo...*shakes fist*
Me, Tulkas? You've got to be kidding! Although Lady Nessa should be quite lovely, how she danced her fairylike dance in the lush fields of Almaren... and how swift and lithe she is, her lovely feet as doves flying over the Fields of Yavanna.
And yes, putting Old Grumpy in his place doesn't sound half-bad either... heh.
Or alternatively you are Vairë, Mandos's spouse, and henceforth automatically know everything your husband knows too...

Just my opinion:
Grondy= Ulmo (he's kindest, and he knows a lot too, but I wouldn't call him Manwe, so Ulmo)
Valedgewel= Irmo (he a poetic guy, really)
Vee= Tulkas ( he's the most violent of the Valar I can think of)
Grep= Eru (controls the Planet, but doesn't interfere too much)
Virumor= Mandos (such a gloomy demeanor fits him, if he was less masculine I'd even call him Nienna)
Amarie= Vana or Yavanna (she's got the pure beauty of Vana, but also the bossiness of Yavanna)
oh this was fun! Funner than giving Awards, because you actually know who's going to get them!

Yeah, but I was sort of going for the scary judge thing.

I am hardly going to say that openly am I? No I was just commenting on something me and Thorin discussed elsewhere.

But Lady Nienna is not gloomy at all. On the contrary, she is kind and forgiving, and has a tear for every living being in Arda, from the tiniest critter crawling in the mud to the largest dragon in the Withered Heath.
Her powers are sympathy and empathy, not gloom. Even her brother Námo is not a gloomy figure. All the Atani souls who join his Halls for a short while, pass on to a better place, after all - and all the Quendi souls who might join his Halls always have the chance to return to the land of the living IF they are ready for that - which is for them to decide.
By the way how many council members are there?
Yea i have been wondering that too.
Give us a list then.
Give us a list then.
I think there should be 14 just like the valar of ME
Let's see. We are techincally nine + Grep.
Allyssa, Mellie (MelliotSandybanks), Elfstone, Grondmaster, Rednell, Valedhelgwath, Amarië, Vee and Virumor.
However the first three haven't been able to be here for some time now, so those names may be new to most.

Can i be a council member? X) Heh just joking.
Whom of the valar is cloverless?
Whom of the valar is cloverless?

(my 400th post on the 1st of 2007)
(my 400th post on the 1st of 2007)
How do you define who is a maiar of pt?
I was kidding. I was checking the sil yesterday and i found that there were 8 valar (pairs) not counting Melkor. So one of our council member must be melkor.......
I can take that job

Check again.
There are 14, but only 6 pairs, since Nienna & Ulmo live alone.
Indeed Virumor is correct only 14 'official' Valar and 6 pairs.
Hmmm.... Tulkas and Orome? How... masculine. I am neither a hunter nor a fighter and definitely not masculine. Pah! Consider yourselves on the roasting list.
Possibly I am Este as she seems to like the dark and the 'tree shadowed lake of Lorellin'. I could live in Lorien - all dreams and shadow and soft lights.... a lot like my home.

ok sorry there are 6 pairs and two loners (rejects?).

That isn't me; I've been here a very long time and have posted alot, but my given opinions have been quite shallow.

Nah. When i was thinking of maiar i was thinking of some special people whose task would be to help newbies around. Some sort of helpers.
oooh I've done that........
Don't be absurd, of course you do, who would keep order and tranquility in the site and above all, who would use that smilie more than anyone

All this talk about longevity has reminded me that tomorrow starts the fourth year of my membership here.
Time to cancel it and move to Tolkeinforums?
Naaah.

Don't you even dare Vir
You are to precious to us all
Who is the longest serving council member of you 9?
That would be Grondmaster.
He was the first Moderator chosen by Taz and worked solo for a couple of years until, I believe, Allyssa became a mod, then Plastic Squirrel (retired by choice).
Valedhelgwath was the next to join the ranks, then me (Rednell), followed by Mellie, then Amarie. Vee was next, then Elfstone (retired by choice).
Our newest edition to the council would be Virumor.
Grep purchased the site from Taz a couple of years ago.
I think that is the correct order. Things tend to get a bit fuzzy after 4 or 5 years.

When I first came here at the turn of the millennia, Taz, Gandalf, and One White Tree were the moderators. She left soon after, as did Gandalf; though he comes back for a bit every few years; as I remember he is from the Netherlands. I don't know from where One White Tree hailed; Taz of course is English.
You are saying that Grep would be Eru, except I hate to partypoop, but Eru isn't a Valar *waits for eggs to fly in face*
Although, Eru could do what he liked, he is after all Eru as Grep could do what he lies, as he's Grep

How much mithril are the Cm paid as monthly salary?
Just like the rest of the members: 20 mithril pieces per day, if they remember to login to moderate the forum and collect that day's pay.
This was a thread I loved. A little bit out of the blue, but I'd take back what I said about Vee (if I haven't been roasted to a crisp by now). She's not Tulkas. She's Lorien. And Grondy is Manwe, not Ulmo. I think he's more a sky person than a water person.
And Vir, NEVER leave us!

Better add me to the list of recent absentees, too... It's been so long I now feel a stranger here (rather than just strange).
If allowed my own input, I'd have to say I'm Ulmo... I love the sea and spend half my life there (hence the lack of time I get to spend here).
Val!!! You're back! Haha! You kucky person, hanging around at the beach all the time!
We still remember you!
We still remember you!
Hi Cloveress... you remember me. Unfortunately, it's not so much lounging on a beach as working on muddy sandbanks that I spend my time doing. I spend so much time on boats, though, that I often forget that I am surrounded by water (and bobbing about on top of it).
