Can someone please clarify the avatar situation?!
Do you have to be a supporter to have one, if yes, how do you go asbout becoming a supporter?
If not, is there any reason why - after resizing to specified pixel size & a .gif format I still cant get my picture up? THANKS!

Make sure it is .gif and not .GIF, that is usually the problem. You can send it to me at amarie@shiremail.com and I'll see if I can fix it. If all fails, we'll get Grep (the owner) to do it.

Generally I use some photo editing software. Usually they give you the choice when you use the SAVE AS command to save your file as any one of a number of formats (eg. jpeg, bitmap, gif etc).
