I'm not sure what you mean...do you mean like the prop in the movie, was that real? Or do you mean is Glamdring from the book a real sword?[Edited on 1/22/2002 by chikakat]

Or do you mean the over-priced non-collectors item from The Franklin Mint a few years, back when it was offered for about $500 US. in ten easy payments. I was worried that the hilt was bronze plated zinc, so passed it up. Think Hildebrand designed it. Looked nice except for flat stainless steel blade was two-dimensional.

There are copies of the movie swords, including 'Sting', 'Glamdring', and that carried by "The Lord of the Nazgul" on the market now, they run about $200 US. plus shipping. www.armsofvalor.com carries them.

Boring posted this under General Discussion on 23/1/2002 at 22:39 as a new, now deleted, topic 'Glamdring'.
Have you seen the swords and dagger they are selling? Glamdring, Sting and a nazgul sword they are really awesome!! and expensive.

I've bought a nazgul piggy bank that shrieks when you drop coins in it it's quite kewl

I ordered 'Sting' last night. When it arrives in a couple of weeks, I'll consider writing a review. I've also seen the add in the "Realms of Fantasy" magazine, which is where I obtained the address.

Thanx Grond I hadn't come to this part of the forum yet.

I think I will save up money for Glamdring or the Nazgul Sword, I've seen some nice Highlander swords, though.

Lucky you Grond! I really want to read your review!!

You are actually saying you think Gandalf's sword in the book is fake? Of course it is! It's only a book, you know... :D No, kidding...

Can you buy these swords??? I want a Glamdring!!! But they are probably too expensive for me... :( *sigh* Oh well, life goes on, as they say... These merchandising stuff are sooo cool! :)

I just took delivery of a copy of Hadhafang, the sword Arwen brandished in LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring. It is beautiful, but poorly balanced for a working sword: Instead of a counter weighted or lenthy pommel, the hilt is short and slims down, which while looking sleek, makes the sword hard wield. Also they sharpened the top of the blade just below the hilt meaning one can't even wield it two handed.

Liv Tyler must really have a strong wrist if she practiced with this sword.

Click here to view the sword.

They've actually sharpened it, Grondy? Most replica swords in this country are blunt. It does look nice, though, even if it is unbalanced.
