I also thought you'd be a bloke, Eryan, sorry! Just the name though... :wary:

My niece is called Esmeralda. I think it's a beautiful name. And it's even in LOTR!

But old Rory Brandybuck was not so sure. Neither age nor an enormous dinner had clouded his wits, and he said to his daughter-in-law, Esmeralda: 'There's something very fishy in this, my dear! I believe that mad Baggins is off again.

Esmeralda is the genuine spanish word, the name of a precious stone, so I guess this is the correct spelling. ;)

well, as you can see, I retained my nick "Eryan" here (I like it better than Esmeralda, too!) but I started to sign as Esmeralda or as Esme my e-mails to my friend Maggie (also known as Crocodile and Dragon)... However, Esme is the name of a realy nasty hyena from one of the short stories of Saki (do you know it?) and I am still not convinced it fits me!
