All That is Gold Does Not Glitter

I know that this is about Aragorn but what if Tolkien was a whisky drinker?

All that is gold does not glitter, = there are nice looking whiskies that are rubbish eg blended whisky.
Not all those who wander are lost;= not all who stagger are drunk.
The old that is strong does not wither, = An old whisky can be a great smooth whisky.
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.= Refering to the authenticity of ancient whisky recipies.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, = The best whiskies are very ash tasting and smoky.
A light from the shadows shall spring; =A good malt gives hope.
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,= A good malt gives confidence.
The crownless again shall be king. = A good malt can make a Baron feel like a King when he is drinking it.

Yes I know that these thoughts are contrived, but I look at pictures of Tolkien and imagine him to be a single malt drinker.

Baron Ironfang, you are clearly up a Poo Creek without a paddle. You have no idea of what Tolkien meant at all. I'll give you instruction (I am kind hearted).

All that is gold does not glitter = Not all (genuinely) good or worthy or pricey things look pretty.
Not all those who wander are lost = Someone can be out and about, but for very purposeful reasons.
The old that is strong does not wither = I think Tolkien means the Strong Spirit in Good Men (especially in Numenoreans).
Deep roots are not reached by the frost = This, I feel, is about the moral root at the heart of all Good Men.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken = The Numenorean Line was not quite extinguished. One ember remained.
A light from the shadows shall spring = The true king of Gondor, Aragorn, will come out of hiding to defy Sauron.
Renewed shall be the blade that was broken = Yes, a sword that was broken will be reforged.
The crownless again shall be king = Aragorn, who has been long exiled, will be crowned King of Gondor.

I hope this clarifies things a bit for you, Baron.

Regards
Odo Banks

NB Eldorion! You know better than to encourage people who are Tolkien Ignorant! Shame on you! :x

Odo, I think you missed the part where the Baron mentioned his points were contrived. :P

Or maybe you didn't. ;)

I didn't realize the Baron was being silly, though it makes little difference - I don't approve of that kind of thing as you know only too well.

The Baron is never silly, Odo Banks, the moon is at 87%, not even Biffo can save you. He might break his head as he tries to headbut the knee of my armoured leg. At 6'11 and 340lbs of pure muscle on a 60" chest, I could inhale you. Then agian I heard Aussies make great tooth floss.

I'm loosing it, Canthiss why do you have to be dead, where are you when I need you??? GGGRrr

Biffo has been out in the Kimberleys for a long time, Baron. And being out in a very remote location mining iron ore, he has often had to face severe food shortages. Indeed, at times he has had to eat iron ore, goanas and cockatoos, and drink scorpion piss, just to survive, which indicates how tough he is. He eats Ironfang types for breakfast (and lunch too, if nothing else is available).

You've been warned!

Regards
Odo Bank

COCKATOO STEW
One fair sized cockatoo.
One large stone.
Three litres water (the muddier and mineral richer the tastier).
One large billy can.
Put billy on the campfire.
Put cockatoo and stone in the billy can.
Cover with water.
Boil for twenty four to fourty eight hours.
Throw away cockatoo.
Eat stone.
