Okay what is this about?I can't seem to find a topic in this.
I've never considered myself as really being a 'Nerd'. Even though I love Computer Programming, Tolkien and stuff, I still play Varsity sports, workout, go out and socialize, and stuff like that.

Oh Anilorak your far from being a nerd, you seemed cool
gimli, what is your definition of a 'nerd'?
I was born to catch dragons in their dens
And pick flowers
To tell tales and laugh away the morning
To drift and dream like a lazy stream
And walk barefoot across sunshine days.

I consider myself possibly a geek, but not a nerd.

:withstupid:

Had it been a geeks guild I would have joined, but nerd? Not so sure what you call a nerd and what not really. I have a lot of friends, socialise fairly enough I think, like going out, but I also like reading, Internet and computer games. Does that make me a nerd? In that case, I know a lot of nerds. lol :P:

In my book:

Nerds wear glasses and pocket protecters, are interested in math, science, and/or engineering. In my day we also wore a slide rule hanging from our belts, replaced by a programable calculater when they came out, but now my fellow nerds probably have a powerful laptop hardwired to their left hands.

Geeks are just fanatics who go overboard, (can you say obsessive behavior?) about something like computer games, or J.R.RTolkien.

Of course I may be too close the trees or the oliphaunt to properly define it, having been or am still being both a nerd and a geek. :elfcool:

Grondy's definitions are about right.. but in the interest of wanting to be open to geeks as well, they may also unite with us! Lets just keep the Windows vs Linux debate to a minimum ok :orcgin:

Ok I'm not interested in maths or engineering, but I do wear glasses.
