I like the part where Tom Bombadil sails down the Withywindle and meets Farmer Maggot. It happened at the time Bilbo met Beorn (I've checked the texts). It's the same kind of thing as when Gandalf set off for the White Council.

Come to think of it, it's actually recounted in The Adventures of Tom Bombadil, as I now remember. It wasn't in TH book at all. Nonetheless, it should still be in the movie - same as the White Council should be...

For me the entrance of Mirkwood and a little later the elven party and the escape of the dwarves. The imagery of those scenes and the plot to wether Gandalf will return is a truly beautiful piece of writing.

I like the time the four hobbits spend in Tom Bombadil's house. The autumn rain, the food, the storytelling and dreams....

That must have been in the book (LOTR actually). I don't know how many Movie fans would know that though...

Beren wrote:In this scene we also get to see the other side of elves that we don't normally see (drunk, complaining, etc.)

So, it seems like there might be some contradiction here with the scene in the extended version where Legolas and Gimli play the drinking game. Legolas seems unable to get drunk there, but his people back home aren't. :?
