Hey what are peoples thoughts on Beorn and all of the bears from the Hobbit, they might have been handy in LOTR?

Indeed they were. Beorn's son Grimbeorn the Old carried on his father's work keeping the High Pass and Ford of Carrock open. By keeping the Orcs of Mount Gundabad from enetering the Anduin Valley, they kept the road between Rivendell and Dale open. Without this service, it is unlikely Legolas, Gimli and Gloin would have been able to attend the Council of Elrond.

The Beornings also took part in the battles against Dol Guldur during the war of the Ring.
