Thranduil and Brand had been to the same places before, take Lake Esgaroth or Erebor, the Lonely Mountain.

But between Earendil and the earlier what can be the relation, I wonder?

No hobbit except for Merry ever visited Dunharrow during the Third Age. During the Fourth Age they may have, but I doubt it, for the Paths of the Dead remained closed even though the now reconciled oath-breakers no longer haunted them. Maybe as tourists to see the rows of P˙kel-men?
