Thx a lot for the explanation, Amarie! It sounds fair both in Quenya and in English!

It does sound a bit like Lancelot, I think (great character, btw).

So it shall be from now on: I shall be known as Bugyfeanor Lossenlot!

Namarie!

Well my nickname was given to me veeery long time ago.I think everyone here knows what it means Very Evil Smilie
Welcome Vampire. Waving Hello Smilie You're not actually a Vampire then? Wink Smilie

And how, my friend, does one get the nickname "Vampire"? Smoke Smilie
Welcome to the site, Vampire. I hope you have a great time here. Smile Smilie
the reason for my name is pretty poor. i found the site while bored; and just recently havin my 12inch locks cut off, i was friggin hairless.
like i said poor.
Mine is from the wonderful song "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" by Leonard Nimoy that I'm sure you've heard before.

With his long wooden pipe,
fuzzy, woolly toes,
he lives in a hobbit-hole and everybody knows him

Orc Grinning Smilie
Well, I like Aragorn, wanted to be called a lord and I was born in the year 86. Put all of these together and voila! u get my name. simple! aint it?
hehe, yes very simple aragorn...simple is good. Wink Smilie
i got my name from texas chainsaw massacre, obviously
that movie rox
Can give you a splitting headache though....

Mine is my initial. Been in use for about 8 years and was started by some internet friends who couldn't be bothered to type my full name. Still, it is better than the accepted contraction of my name and I quite like it.

I have a purple 'V' stamp and I'm not afraid to use it.
Mine is from my AD&D character. A elf mage.
Well - mine is pretty boring!

I wish I had some idea of Tolkien's lurvly-languages before I 'signed up' - But I did not & faced with the pressure of 'signing up' - I just spat sommat out ...

I should like to make it clear though... I chose/spat out 'Legolaslass' not because of our 'Pretty boy Orlando' but because of our 'Intriguing, mysterious, sultry & may I add sexy (?) character, Legolas.

As sad as it may seem - I had a 'thing' for Leggie waaaaay before those 'movies'. Some might say that he wasn't very 'colourful' in the books but I let my imagination run riot & he's actually a very nice chappy! Wink Smilie

But seriously - he may not be my favourite character from our beloved books, but I fully admit to being attracted to that lovely elf!

That's all fer now folks. I have now confirmed my madness for the group - I shall depart!

Some of the names here @ PT are fab! Much love & thought has gone into them - I wish I had not been so 'panicked' at having to choose a blooming name!!

Ah well, such is life!

Take care all

Lass x
I wonder why i haven't posted in this thread already, as this thread already existed back at the old PT...

virumor --- anagram/typo/alternate nick for 'miruvor'. Later on i thought 'virumor' sounded better than 'miruvor' so i just continue using 'virumor'. And as someone entrusted me 'virumor' means murder or something in Slovenian, i found yet another reason to continue using it.
I've said this before but I just tell it again. Stonehelm comes from Dain Ironfoot's son's name which was Thorin Stonehelm, I think it is told about in the last pages of RoTK.

well i guess mine is the most boring and non creative of all. Ayan , is my first name. its an Indian name of course and u fellas might find it to be a pretty amusing oriental name. check this out about my life....
i am from the east of India though i lived all my life in Bombay and Kuwait which is in the west and during my holidays i go to Delhi which is in the north of India and now for college i am heading towards south India. so u see i am a purely Indian NRI ( supposed to be Non Resident Indian but folks in India call us Not Required Indians !! )
i dont know! just a clever little name i made up on the spot! HobbitHomie05, dont you just love that repatetion (Spelling?)!!! Just kidding!
hehe, was HobbitHomie (without the numbers) already taken?
I've probaly posted why I picked LadyFeawen (but here I go again!! Wink Smilie) : My girlfriends and I were all picking out elvish names for eachother out of the back of The Sillmarillion's index and I got this one. Wiggle Smilie Which means Spirit (and something else) Maiden. Smile Smilie This is one of the only places I use it though.
oh I am back.
tis me name that is me username
I went for something hobbitty and they like flower names.Fairly simple really.
I picked out a name that sounded elvish, Icelia, chose a last name, Fandorien. So right now, I'm Icelia Fandorien, but that's too long. I have an affinity for coldness, so, Ice. Now I'm Ice Fandorien. I love wolves, and in roleplay, my character's half-wolf, so, I made "Fandorien" 'Fangs'. And their you have it, Icefangs.
Mines quite boring, my user name is my nickname well one of them anyway. It's just another take on my real name.
My name came from my now-dead pet guinea pig whose name was Skip. (My evil brother gave him the flu. By the time we found out how sick he was, it was too late to get him to the vet. Very Sad Smilie ) The magician part is because I always wanted to be able to do magic. I would love to turn my brother into a toad.....
He already is one.

Brothers usually are.....
Well then, kiss him Vee. Make him turn into a fair prince! Although i don't think Miss Piggy will be very happy about that.

I don't know where my nickname comes from, my name is actually Tarrant (yes that's my first name), which came from a series my parents evidentally used to watch called 'Blake 7'.

I remember Tarrant from Blake's 7-a very nice man called Steven Pacey. Met him when he was Joseph (in the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and I was in the chorus. Blake's 7 was a superb late 70's BBC sci-fi thing with creaky sets and washing up bottle laser guns. Absolutely brilliant, couldn't wait for it on a Monday night. Tarrant replaced Blake as leader when Blake was killed early in the second series (I think). My mate reckons Servalan was a real babe, but I'm not so sure. My nickname is purely made up rubbish I'm afraid. I just like the sound of it-it suggests beer with bits in to me.

Fag-ends and pork scratchings?

Avon was the coolest!!! And as for Servalan...... well...... hmmmm.... yes..... I am enjoying watching Tom Baker as Dr Who on UK Gold..... the one, the only true Doctor!

My spellchecker wants to change my full name to 'Divine'. Wouldn't that be a lovely user name for a goddess?

well, as you can see, mine is not that original, but i loke it very much, because when i was reading the Silmarillion, my wife came one day and said We should do like Thingol and Mellian,( you know, staring each other for ages lost in forest). in that time we were just dating, but i knew she was going to be my bride. later, after we got married, I lost my internet password and aftere several months I asked her to open an account for me. that she did, and she chose this user name. since that moment every time I got int a chat room or any other site I have alwaysused it, like a reminder of the Maiar that captured mi mind forever. Wink Smilie
I typed ar-edain37 when i meant to type tar-edain37 and didnt realize it for a week and didnt want to change it since i already had about 50 posts and didnt want to lose them.and i picked the name because i think the edain/eldar is one of Tolkiens many brilliant ideas so i wanted my name to be half numenorean king and half numenorean king, but now im stuck with ar-edain37
what is it?
I don't think i'll know until i post this thing
so here it goes
ah..so nitaprob8..
nita's my nickname and people already had it on few other sites so i just added some stuff on
I was reading a book about LOTR, I'm not sure what it was now, but I read that an Elf maiden who married a mortal Beren (I'm not sure how to spell it, and I'm not sure even if that is the right name, so don't be mad). I liked the name so, I picked it. And, I've always wanted to be a princess. Big Smile Smilie
i just finished watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and i thought it to very well suited my feelings at the time for some reason.I love that movie, u should see it, and when u do, go to the texas chainsaw massacre thread and post, cause its been dead silent around there for awhile.
have a very nice day
Juggling Smilie p.s yay for me, i just learned to juggle!
Hehe, mine is a strange name. Actually, I lost my previous ID on Yahoo! So, I opened a new one. I used (Pink) Floyd and (AC) Milan, two things I love the most. When I signed up on PT, I was so sick of having to remember different names on all the sites and all the forums, so I just used this one. (Hehe, I even use the same name on the Manchester United website!!! AC Milan in Man Utd forums Wink Smilie )
Galenhir- Galen(green) and hir(river) Winking Smilie
I guess Laurelindhe is a name I derived from the word "Laurelindorenan", or Lorien, and Ilmarin is the name of the mansion of Manwe and Varda, but can also be used as a fancy name for Taniquetil itself. Plus it sounds extra-fancy! Rolling Eyes Smilie
you know i really can't think of where i got my name from. I'll let ya'll know when i think of it
Hey, this thread is rather interesting. I'm surprised I haven't noticed it before. Unfortunately my nickname is not as lovely or creative as many of the elvish names. My user name is a combination of my first and middle names. Strangely enough it must not 'translate' well in some languages because I've had a few PT members think I'm a male instead of a female. To me it seems obvious, but then I must be thinking inside my own cultural framework. Kudos to the rest of you for being more creative!
Vintage to me means something that is old but so unique and wonderful that it has to be kept... and everybody loves stars!
Well, I didn't want to be an elf when I signed up. I knew everybody would be choosing elves, and I wanted to be different. So I decided to be a dwarf. And I wanted a name that wasn't obvious. Like Gimli. So I just remembered that bit in Moria reading the Book of Mazarbul. "Frar and Loni and Nali died there." And I randomly picked Loni.
So Loni isn't your real name? What a shocker.
RE: the name Terrijayne. I sounded it out and found it was like Peggy Sue and Billy Bob, so I never had a problem with it. Now sussing that our old friend Tom Bombadilo was a female was another matter, and that is why she later switched to the diminutive and more feminine Tommie.
Howdy! Big Smile Smilie I love hobbits, not just the characters, but everything about them. I can live with 6 meals a day.Wink Smilie And while I love to read about adventures, I don't normaly rush into them with joy; I like peace and quiet, and good tilled earth. And I'm a girl, thus my name. Not original, but oh well. Smile Smilie
My name comes from an RPG text mud I've played for about 10 years - technically it's not my name anymore as I have immorted and joined Valinor but it was one of my mortal names, yes I'm an Ainur there now. The place is set in the last days of the war of the ring III. 3019 - has just about every single thing you could imagine including Minas Tirith, (all the levels), the shire, mordor, barad-dur, well yeah everything. But anyway I don't want to start promoting it here cause it's probably against the rules.

~Celebedhel~
Promoting is done in the advertisement thread (on the message board, under misc). Celebedhel is a nice name. Silver-elf. Smile Smilie
Hi, i'm a newbbie and this is my first attempt. Well, my name consists of two elvish names. The first one, Nimrodel is a stream of Lothlorien, named after the elf maiden who lived around Third Age 1980. And the second one, Amarie, well, Amarie of the Vanyar was the beloved of King Finrod Felagund, but they did not marry. The name Amarie is Quenya elvish. Felagund went into exile from Valinor with Feanor's group, while Amarie remained behind in Valinor.
Finrod Felagund was the eldest son of Earwen and of Finarfin the golden-haired, who was the third son of the Noldor King Finwe, who was the younger of Feanor's half-brothers. The half was due to the mother being Indis, a Vanyar elf, who was golden-haired. and close kin of Ingwe the High King of the Elves. Thus it was that Amarie, a Vanyar, could see Finrod as being like one of her people.
So my name's Nimrodel Amarie.

Hey, look at that! Another Amari!
Feel like repeating what I said earlier on in this thread about why I chose my nick.
Quote:
Amari was Finrods beloved who stayed in Valinor when he left. That is all I know about her. She is only mentioned once and has no stories connected to her, which made me feel I could turn her into me without changing how she was in the books. The meaning is unclear but has something to do with mre=good. It also makes me think about Aman = blessed, free from evil.

Dang, another plot bunny has gained hold of my leg. Sounds to me like a story that needs to be written. Now, I had a challenge I had taken upon... Mmmm will keep you guys posted.

As for Rhapsody.... no it is not from Mighty Rhapsody, but it comes from the fantasy trilogy The Symphony of Ages by Elizabeth Haydon. The character Rhapsody in that book is a former prostitute turned Singer, practitioner of a musical magic that manipulates reality by use of the true names of things. What ever she names, she changes forever. She is a Bard, singer and a very well written character in that novel. Since I also like the sound of the name, I adopted it as my IRC nick a long time ago and kept on using it as my penname and here. Smile Smilie

I know!!!! I have had the same thoughts, but I have ended up with feeling that it isn't my business to stick my nose in their lovelife since I am not her, I only carry her name. Ha Ha Ha Smilie Actually I have so many 'maybe this or maybe that' thoughts that I can't decide what I really think happended. My thoughts/ideas also involves the unanswered questions about elven rebirth. Complicated! Pixie Smilie

The plot bunnies are scary critters and they have found out where I live. Last night one bit firmly into my leg. Can't shake it off. Nothing to do with Amari and Finrod. Maybe I will be able to write it.

It actually is not, but then we better discuss this in the writers guild. Smile Smilie How much you want to stick to cannon, resources and stuff.

Oi that one has the potential of becoming a Nazgul... be aware..

At HASA I adopted a bunny on how a couple met and got wedded/enganged and such. *Stares at Rian Ithilmir* I did not wanted to go for the standard Aragorn/Arwen, Faramir/Eowyn story, but something different. Seems like I have found it! Oh and sorry about the bunnies.. I guess they found out that I had no room left for bunnies and they went up North...
