Charity...ooops Community Shield results:
Liverpool 0 - 1 Arsenal

Heh heh.

Think I'll support Roma from now on. I've gone off Arsenal somewhat...we're too successful. No competition - no fun.....

BOSTON.... Well, we're rock bottom of the English league, three points behind the teams that haven't even played a game yet. I'd like to think things can only get better, but they might just stay the same....
Well, you've got great company then Val. Liverpool & ManYoo (mwahahahaha) haven't won any games this season either.

Ooooh, I hope the scum get knocked out of the Champions League.
Heh heh, death to Man U, the second worst team ever to play in red.

PREMIERSHIP STARTS TOMMORROW!!!!!!!! WHO'S EXCITED? COME ONNNNNNN!!!!!!!!
so who's gonna win the champions league?

It will be Ajax for sure Smile Smilie... in my dreams...

If you mean we Americans' sad substitute of a game that hides under the name "football"? The four preseason exhibition games started last weekend; so I guess that means the games should start counting on about 08 September this year. Smile Smilie
Nice weekend result I think, Chelsea 3, Charlton 2, is this a sign? It's been years since we one the first game of the season, and we nearly always lose to the crappy teams, perhaps things are looking up? Big Smile Smilie
Who's gonna win the Champions League? Easy one, Boring: Club Brugge... Very Big Grin Smilie Whatever, I guess, and whoever, but not Club Brugge... Big Laugh Smilie
You people suck! I dont get Premier league here....

I do understand the game though.. sorta.. im a bit rusty! Luckily Mithril Blade follows it and teaches me! I believe Arsenal would be her team of choice!
Jesus! What is it with you people and f***ing Arsenal! Gooners the lot of you.

Well, it's not often I get to gloat on one like that.... And well done to Bolton mid-week too. Wouldn't it be great if Sir Alex's bubble has burst at last. Pity about the Gunners though... and Liverpool and Chelsea and Spurs.... Get rid of a few of them, and Leeds might stand a chance of winning something.
Good one Leeds, I'm very happy for you.
I'd also just like to say Chelsea 3 Newcastle 0. Thank you, thank you very much.
Ok. My fav clubbie is still on n° one. Unbeated yet. Big Smile Smilie Big Smile Smilie

Yeah but 3-2 is a bit more respectable than 4-1 ain't it? Honestly, you offer a little cameraderie in defeat, and this is what you get. Very Sad Smilie

just thought i'd bring this post back upto date.
Again Wednesday lost and it won't be long before Yorath goes.
Watched the England match on Saturday against Slovakia.
Allthough England won,it was an awful match and England played crap. They certainly need to play better if they're to qaulify.

Saturday was a great day for me. One of the lads I work with is from Torquay so as they were playing Boston this week, we decided to go and watch (we've a pound stake riding on which one of us finishes highest in the league - it is only third division after all)

It's the first match I'd been to for 28 years. Boston are bottom of the league, and after several seasons of narrowly avoiding relegation, Torquay are currently at the lofty heights of second in the league. When we went a goal down after 6 minutes I thought we were in for a hammering, but in the second half we were all over them and finished up winning 2 - 1. Big Smile Smilie Big Smile Smilie Big Smile Smilie Big Smile Smilie

We're now second from bottom, but if we hadn't had four points deducted before the season even began, we'd be third from bottom. GO BOSTON!!!!
Anyway, seeing them all over Torquay has given me hope that we might manage to stay up this season :praying:

Let me guess, you support Spurs or Man U? I support the later, though Anal are a good team. Cool Smilie

Wink Smilie Arsenal already have Arse in their name, which is just fine. Man U fan though, I'm afraid you've just gone down in my estimation. Shame. I'm a Chelsea man myself (at this point, as a responsible council member I should suggest we head to the Footie anyone? thread in the Forsaken Inn, but I can't be bothered).

Well, I am a scary guy. *Cue over-dramatic music*
We had a P.S.E officer in a school today, adn he wanted to lecture all sixth formers on drugs etc. Everyone was being serious, asking question and I ask him why the police recruitment adverts are so **** , and why we just don't have a picture of the police beating up a man with a baton, and how by telling peopel that if you join the police not only do you get a shiny new stick but you also get to at people up with it. Bloody hilarious, i really think the policeman hates me, since i asked other, more embarrsing, adult questions. Why am I telling you this? Because i'm a twat. Just though you anted to read a story of me making a fool of myself. Woo-hoo, it's half-tem! *his Commences happy dance*

Heh, sorry Grondy (btw. my Mod controls are knackered at the minute anyway) I should stop doing this really. Smile Smilie

Indy, winding up the police is never a good idea, trust me I speak from experience (can you say "Police Harrassment"?) But half term is not a good thing for the rest of the world, trust me. Wink Smilie
Pary Smilie And another big cheer for Boston. That's three league wins on the trot for us now and we've risen to the lofty heights of fourth from bottom. Pary Smilie

If they hadn't deducted 4pts off us before the season even started, we'd be about 16th now. At this rate, we might even survive our first season in the league.
Wooohhh... We've just doubled our fanclub Big Smile Smilie
No Inderjit. This is our first season in the league proper. We're currently second from bottom in Division Three. Three seasons ago we were in the Doc Martin's, we were then runners up in the Conference and last season we were champions.

Must admit, we're struggling a bit now though.

WE'VE SURVIVED

Having held up the third division for most of the season, Boston have had a little late season winning spree that has ensured our survival, and given us the chance to prop up the English League again next year.

They are either top or second in the third division at the moment. They've got themselves promoted at any rate.
erm.. this has something to do with soccer doesnt it... Tongue Smilie
No, it's about football. What is this soccer thing you speak of...???

I am currently unable to contain my sorrow, because Luton Town have been bought by an as yet unknown corporation, Joe Kinnear (manager) has been sacked, after doing such an excellent job over the last two seasons, and Mike Watson Challis (eccentric chairman) has resigned after suffering losses of Ł29m because of the club.

And yes, Aster, Rushden won the Second Division and will have the honour of being hammered by Luton next season.

Football is called 'soccer' by we the unwashed, our 'football' with the elongated orb, is played more like your rugby.

Looks like the Womens World Cup Finals are going to be played in the USA again, instead of China due to the SARS scare.
hey! we might actually have a chance at that! to bad our men aren't a little better at the game..
Liverpool rule dont make me laugh....well you just did. Ah Perwing how you laughed that Sunday when Liverpool beat Man Utd but now I am the one who laughs cause we our the Champions once again and the title has finally came home. And you have squat hahahahaha.

And it is football not soccer..I hate people who call it soccer it gets on my nerves..Football the Beautiful Game.
Not Soccer The Beautiful Game doesn't sound right does it.
Manchester United our the one and only Champions...so says your leader.

hehehe, I have to admit I love the antics - one player just gets touched and he goes down!!!! And when the ref doesn't call a penalty or anything he gets right back up as if nothing happened! Very funny
That's only the Italians and South Americans, as a rule. It p*sses the rest of the world off so much. Mad Smilie

Ah so Emile Heskey, Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Francis Jeffers are Italian and South Americans? Tongue Smilie The idea about the 'diving' culture in Seria A or amongst South American players ( Of whom there is a large base in Seria A, and La Liga though the figure is drastically smaller in the Premiership due to English immigration regulations, which are very strict in comparison to mainland Europe) is a pretty cliched idea-they may have been the instigators of the 'diving culture' but it has now spread across Europe.

Depends from which angle you are looking at it. It was a beautiful game in terms technical aspects and defence though I suppose you would have to be a annaly retentive Howard Wilkinson type to really enjoy that. But the battle between Gattuso and Davids was sublime.

Davids didn't play...
Quote:
Davids didn't play...

He was taken off in the Second Half, sometime close to the 60th minute I think. Thats when Gattuso, as the only *natural* holding defensive midfielder (Unless, Tacchinardi was playing, i think he was, but he is a different type of player from Davids, Gattuso etc, qand he hasn't impressed me that season as much as he has in his previous two) really began to come into his own.

I can search for the team-sheets if you don't believe me. (Unless you are htinking of Pavel Nedved, the left/center midfielder, whose banning for the final was quite well talked about. I feel sorry for him he worked so hard, and it reminds me of Keane's banning in the game against Bayern Munich in 1998-99)

[Edited on 5/6/2003 by Findekano]
I probably was thinking of Nedved, yes. I think Juve would have won had he played; I think he is by far their best player and one of the best midfielders in the world.

I wouldn't say poor, he just hasn't really excelled. I still rate him as a great player though, even though he does dive all over the place.
