Welcome, Littleirena.

There is something just a little more droolable about the younger of twins, is there not?

I was just kidding about the pettition because it is probably far too late for it to do any good anyway, ROTK is at least 99.9% finished. I am not so sure PJ would take any notice anyway.

But there is still hope!

Hope is good. Wink Smilie

Anyway, I read an interview somewhere, Elijah Wood said that there will probably be re-shoots or something in June so... (crossed fingers)
Ooooh, goodie!

Maybe PJ does read this forum?

And it is not like it would cost very much to get some suitibly gorgeous specimen of manhood, throw an elf costume on him, computer-graphically duplicate him and put him in the background with Halbarad or something? (I believe he did something similar to Sean Bean when he needed Boromir in a scene and Mr Bean was not available at the time.) Easy, yes?
Allyssa, I agree, it would not be that difficult to put the twins in the movie. I just keep hoping. ROTK just won't be the same with out them.
Some interesting eye-candy:

So, does this painting give us some hope? I wonder if the artist knows something...
/me tries to speak but is drooling to much over the picture to make sense.

It's gone! and so has my question to the poster about where he got it.

I wonder what that means?

Sorry to all you guys who missed out.
Wow this place moves slowly, doesn't it? I reckon they need EE in ROTK - they'd better be there, because I still haven't got over Haldir yet - its painful to watch Helm's Deep again... Sad Smilie

Here is a little bit I posted over in the ROTK spoilers thread concerning that statement;

I was just checking out that new article on the home page “The Return of the King Details Revealed”, and I find it interesting that at the bottom of the article, it states that Denethor is the only new character we will see. I know for a fact that Deagol, the Mouth of Sauron, Elanor Gamgee, and Gorbag are all in ROTK, and over at theonering.net, they have an actors name listed for Ghan-buri-Ghan (is this going to be a case where he appears in the extended DVD version, and not the theatrical version?) in the cast list for ROTK. Does this article not consider them to be new characters? I’m assuming that article had to mean “major” characters, but what about Shelob, isn’t she kind of a major character? Now I’m concerned, what about Beregond? Please don’t tell me Elladan, and Elrohir are going to get the shaft!

My point is that there are most definitely other new characters that we will see in ROTK. That statement is inaccurate, so for all of us, who want to see Elladan and Elrohir in ROTK, let's not give up hope! Hear us P.J., “We want Elladan and Elrohir!”

Hear, hear, Elfstone! I have been scouring the net for any evidence that E and E will be in ROTK, but as yet to no avail. Closest I got was an artists rendering of one of the twins that was hastily withdrawn from public view. I have not had any luck tracking down the artist or the person who posted it. Very mysterious.

No body from New Line has come right out and said that E and E will not be in the film either, and I am inclined to think that if they were to be left out, that PJ and Co. would have put us out of our misery a lot sooner. But I could be wrong.

Maybe E and E will bring Aragorn his sword?

Please please please be there!! It will be SO wrong if they are left out. They will bring the sword. They must. Please please be there! *fingers crossed*

I agree! I'm keeping my fingers crossed too! They have to be at the Paths of the Dead, and at least riding into battle at various points too!

As you said Allyssa, I haven't found any proof yet either, but I'm a hoping, and a praying!

Well I hate to say it, but it looks very much like P.J. is giving E & E the shaft. From all of the spoiler pictures I’ve seen from TPOTD, it looks like Legolas, and Gimli will be the only ones with Aragorn at TPOTD. It’s also really starting to look like Elrond (in some sort of secret visit) will be the one who brings Anduril to Aragorn.
Orc Sad Smilie
Was afraid of that as they haven't been introdused earlier.

Aragorn: Oh look, it's my two best friends and hunting buddies E and E with my new sword! We seem to have forgotten to tell you about them while at the council, but you should have read the book befor you got here.

Legolas: Hi E and E! Long time no see! Wipers to Gimli: Oh great, here they come to steal screen time from us again. First Haldir, now them. My fanclub will go bananas!

Gimli: Hmf! *glares at E and E*

Aragorn: Now off to see the gosts!
It's a shame, because as Tolkien fans we would all have loved to see them (unless PJ chose actors who did not happen to look just like everyone imagines them to look like.)

At the end of the day, however, E&E are secondary characters to LotR and as such, were never realistically going to appear. Their booktime as a duo is maybe comparable to that of Glorfindel alone. If PJ chose to give Arwen Glorfindel's moment of glory, I'm sure he'd prefer to avoid the problem of finding elf-like twins to play the roles in a similar manner.

Take solace in the fact that if he does not include them, he cannot ruin your personal impressions of them. There's nothing like seeing a character played on screen to totally erase prior impressions you may have had. When I imagine Faramir now, I cannot help but see screen Faramir.

No E and E? Sad Smilie

But if this is the case, why has PJ been so tight-lipped about thier exclusion? He came right out and said that the Scouring was not included, yet he wont answer questions about E and E? I would have expected him to say "Ella- who?"

There is also the issue of the unexplained artwork that was briefly distributed around the net, but dissapears within hours of appearing on any website. It looks as if it could be "concept art" or something. The costume is definately based on the movie costumes and the drawing is the best I have ever seen of E or E. My attempts to trace the artist have met with stony silence.

Still, it could just be some fan art - really good fan art, but fan art all the same.

You are right of course, Val. There are some advantages to being an obscure Tolkien character - you don't get Jackson-ised.
Well it will just be a shame if E & E aren’t in ROTK. I agree that they are secondary characters, but I feel like they participate in too many events to be left out entirely. I personally can't see how P.J. can completely nix the twins, because not only are they present with Aragorn at the PotD, but they also come forth on the ships, and do battle at the Pelennor Fields. They help Aragorn heal the wounded at Minas Tirith (which I knew P.J. would cut due to time, and that’s fine, acceptable, and understandable), they're with the Captains of the West at the Black Gate, they’re at the wedding of Arwen and Aragorn, and they also ride to Theoden's funeral as well! By my count that’s at least 6 major events the twins directly participate in (not counting the healing at Minas Tirith, because that’s most definitely minor in the context of the film) and that’s why IMHO I feel that they can’t be left out entirely.

I do take solace in the fact that they won’t be subjected to “Jackson-nization” though.
Elf Rolling Eyes Smilie
Geez, I have not been in this thread in so long. It is nice to see some guys post here and hope for E and E just like us girls are, although for different reasons.

Yeah, at least now E and E will stay the way we see them when we read the book. Pj might have them finishing eachothers sentences like Huey, Louie and Dewie(?) (Donald Ducks nephews) does. If we cling to the ide that Pj would have "destroyed" them like he did with poor Faramir, their absense from rotk might be easier to accept. Wink Smilie
Oh dear God! Finishing each others sentances - I don't think I could recover from that.

Worse, imagine them playing silly childish tricks on Legolas (comic relief?) or doing that thing with an empty frame and pretending it was a mirror or such like. Very un-Tolkien. At least it looks as though we shall be spared the mutilation of two fascinating characters. Sad Smilie

True, and we can see in the trailer there's no glimpse of them. I knew Arwen was taking up too much screen time! Mad Smilie
