No, that may have been Max Headroom; though Beorn said it first, so Lord_aragorn86 gets the pretty bauble.

Why did Beorn warn Thorin's Company against drinking from the stream in Mirkwood Question Smilie
Because even though it would grant them eternal youth, it would also turn them blind.

Luckily though, the wisdom of the mighty King Iskander was limitless.
Because it would do strange things to them, put them to sleep or something like that, my copy of the Hobbit is gone so I can't look it up.
Yes FionwŰ Urion, it would put them to sleep which is why they had to carry Bombur for many days after he fell into the stream. So you get another Pseudo-Silmaril. Happy Elf Smilie

Nirnaeth Arnoediad.
No, that is the Battle of Unnumbered Tears, the Fifth Battle of Beleriand and most disastrous of the battles in those wars. I'm looking for the name of an earlier battle.

Don't worry about it Mellon, it's not like we have a whole hoaf* of people complaining that they never get a chance at the question; though when the Hobbit movie comes out and we have many more active members we will have to try to be more equitable.

* Is "hoaf" a real word or have my ears misheard all these years when people have actually said "a whole host"? Elf With a Big Grin Smilie
Dagor Bragollach
Well I cannot really see how in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad his full power was not revealed... ?!
Mybe the Battle Of tumhalad but that was after the Nirnaed Arnoediad
I meant first revealed, like once they had been revealed at Dagor Bragollach, the Battle of Sudden Flame, his great size and mighty flame were no longer a revellation by the time of the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the Elves had previously encountered them. They had encountered him even earlier and drove him off because he was not yet full grown and his hide wasn't yet protection from arrows, but it was at Dagor Bragollach where he was in his prime. T˙rin gets the Pseudo-Silmaril.
