Moderator Smilie Grondy says: 'Thanks for all the help; please don't do it again.' Elf Sticking Tounge Out Smilie Moderator Smilie
well clearly you have messed up this page now, why try and do something that most people cant in the first place, this is a place to 'Share and Enjoy' not to try and change things in the site, thats for others to do............
See? Grondy can really live up to his reputation... But LostandAlone can compete with D-rob to see who's the better Macavity.
Thanks for the award CloverHappy Elf Smilie

Thank you Clover, if anyone does wish to have any 'surgery' contact my colleague; Dr Clown, funny as well as lethal with a balloon scalpel...................

I can compete with him? No, he can compete with me. I am his mentor in all things suspicious. I stand supreme in messing up the site and locking threads!!! Which is why I've been given that award TWICE now.

Edit: I've been looking through threads in the Ivy Bush and reread the threads "Amarie" and "Vee". Ahh... the bad times...
To all who expressed gratitude, YOU"RE WELCOME!

To LostandALone, so you've finally decided to show who was the mastermind behind the scenes, eh? I've been waiting for you to come out...
Ahhh... but I have been hiding in the open. For those who can remember my days as Findarato, I was twice as devilish as D-Rob, but now I have calmed down a bit for the sake of keeping this account from getting banned/locked/destroyed/sent to siberia/destroyed in the fire of Vee's avatar/etc. Hehe... I bet Grondy had fun figuring out the problem I caused the site's layout... Good thing I started to feel sorry for the guy and fixed it myself. At least he lived up to his reputation of using moderator smilies...
Quote:
Ahh... Amarië, there is a flaw in your arguement. First off, Grep does not want us to do stuff like that and it should get edited.

And you did get edited, didn’t you?

Quote:
However, Grep has told me personally that it is okay to use html PROVIDED that it does not mess with the layout of the page and that it looks good. So asking me to not do it again would be against the owner of the site.

Well, to quote yourself: "Grondy, it took me 5 minutes to create something so ugly!!!"
The bits we removed did not “look good”, and you have admited it. Your crossed out words are still there. So far we have done exacly what you say Grep would want us to do.

LostandAlone, you too knew it was not ok to post codes to mess up the page, but you did it anyway. Removing it yourself simply saved us from having to tell Grep there and then how you were ruining the page for everybody on purpose, simply to make yourself look clever and then later to brag about it.

This thread is pretty safe from being locked. I would be more worried about my account if I were you… (that goes for both) Shaking Head Smilie

*Grabs her award and soars away*
Amarie, I don't know about laws in Europe but here in America, things for education have more flexibility as far as what is accepted legally. For example, using pirated music in a valid educational environment is frowned upon, but no action would be taken against the person because it is for the sake of education. I created that ugly display as a moment to teach certain members that using html in posts could be disasterous, or in other words, for their education. It was ulgy yes, but it did not change the essential layout of the page such as what LostandAlone did. I wouldn't do something like that just for the sake of doing something like I haven't done something absolutely horrible that. And if you were to read the whole post, it was for teaching...

I'm sick of defending myself on this topic. I haven't done something horrible wrong and it is somewhat disturbing to me that I need to defend myself.

Cloveress, I DON'T want an award for this, by the way. Hehe... I'll probably get it anyway...

D-Rob slinks into the ether...

Considering the trouble some lawyers have been giving PT, just because some Tolkien-related artwork was available on a more or less educational site, I have a hard time believing that.

But following your reasoning, one could for instance teach children that guns are bad by shooting down some ppl on the street, to show them the nasty consequences that guns have. I doubt that the argument 'it's for the sake of education' would be taken very seriously in the courtroom.

But then, I'm from Old Europe and am not really familiar with the ways of the Wild Wild West.
so you are saying that you have taught us something??? I dont think we learnt anything, only that what you did was annoying...

Exactly my point. Imagine if everyone could do stuff like that?

As far as the "for the sake of education", I knew your example was coming because I've thought of it myself. Why is the one valid and the other not? Common sense is the answer. Pirating music is bad, but is it as bad as shooting someone with a gun? Clearly not. Also, they may not shoot other people, but they might show a movie. A display is much different than actually doing it. The degree of flexibility is related to the degree of crime. However, with things becoming more and more strict every year I think that perhaps the flexibility will soon be erased completely.

In my example, I should have clarified a bit more on how the music was being used. If used as background music for a slide presentation for one class that will be deleted upon delivery, it's not as punishable than if used as other sorts. Get my point? If you don't then I don't blame you. I can't really explain it any better than that. It kind of boils down to: "The right to swing my fist stops at your nose." I can't give a better explanation than I have so don't argue because I don't have answers; it just is.

Confused himself, D-Rob stumbles into the gloom...
Quote:

I get what you mean. But to the lawyers, illeagal use is illeagal use no matter the reason. *mumbles something about 'Addershark' *

We're not lawyers though. But we have to be firm sometimes. We can't let people do whatever they like simply because they say add "I did it to show why you shouldn't do it."

We understand your reason for doing it, but we hope you can also see why you shouldn't have done it like that. And we hope you will see why we had to edit you, even if your intentions were good.

Putting the flashy, ugly thingie in a link was a good idea, like I said earlier. It illustrates how it could have been in here, without 'polluting' the forum and annoying members. Those who want to see it, can see it. Those who don't, won't have to. And everybody is happy.

They'd show a pirated movie?

As far as I know, ppl have already been persecuted for just possessing pirated music. But I'm no lawyer and not familiar with the intricacies of copyright law.

You probably deserve the Worst Teacher Award.

Your lesson would not be understandable if you did not explain it in defense in the face of the many CMs's accusation, which, well, personally, makes me think that it was not meant as a lesson at all, which leads to the conclusion that all everyone's been talking about is just your sneaky ruse to direct the discussion away from your guilt.

You could no doubt argue your way out of anything, but I don't intend to let you do so. Oh what am I saying? I should just go back to sleep and be the treacherous little fairy I am. For goodness' sake, I'm supposed to HELP fellow Jokers! Ah, too late now...

So long then, guilty friend!

I meant show a movie showing someone shooting someone else and the negative effects of such, not show a pirated movie...

People have been persecuted for just possessing pirated music, yes. However, just owning the music is not always an infringement of copyrights. I'm not a lawyer so I don't know picky details. So don't ask for them. What does all this have to do with me doing some html on a webpage again? I've forgotten...
Weary from thinking about what it all has to do with html, D-Rob siddles into the dark...

you cant remember??? let me enlighten you

Please. How about we just drop this html subject and let the thread go back to Cloveress's Awards topic. Else we might come here one day and find this past week's worth of postings have all disappeared, which would be a shame considering the effort we have spent writing them. Maybe these recent posts should be moved to The Programmers & Computer Enthusiast Guild? Moderator Smilie

And was does pirated music have to do with html? Hmm?

Agreed. Hehe... even though it's not Cloveress's... hehe...

I wasn't even aware of The Programmers & Computer Enthusiast Guild. It was started before I was born!!! Last Post: Thursday 1st January 1970 (01:00am)

D-Rob laughs at the darkness...
PT hasn't been working since 1970 some of the CM I'm sure will tell you more about thisSmile Smilie
The posts from 1970 come from when Taz, the previous owner, moved the posts from a premade forum to a self programmed forum. The old posts got that funny date in the prosess. Posts posted after the move, got proper dates. Smile Smilie

Anyway, you all heared Grondy! Back to the Award topic! I see this 'discussion' still hasn't gotten anywhere while I was gone. No one is impressed and no one is fooled.

Appologies can be sent to council@planet-tolkien.com, boys.

Subject closed.

---------------

On behalf of the very secret CM's Fly on The Wall Project, I would like to award Clover
the very unofficial CM Certificate of Most Succesfull Brain Wash Subject! I'm so proud! We've worked so hard and put so much mithrill into this... *sniff*
Brainwash? Moi? Pourquoi?

But I am glad we are doing away with pirated music and html. Computer technology is one area I am hopelessly inadept in. Though the awards go out as usual. If there is one trait of fairies,. it's that they'll mess with ANYTHING they come across.

Oh yes, I am sure we'll be receiving a WHOLE lot of those...
Yes, I've cleared out my inbox so I have room for them all.

I'll just repost Clover's awards so we can get back on track:

And yes, that's all for now, folks!

For inquiries, just post!

Your most beloved fairy,
Cloveress
I think that the 'Desperately Wanted' award should go to Loni... How I miss her and her harrasments for making locked threads... I wish she'd come back to yell at me...
This has gone alittle dry.........

Soooo, who would be the 'Hater of Fairies'? just to add, not me, as my dear sister, collects fairy ornaments, her room has them, wherever I walk. Plus she does view herself as a fairy and whithers slightly when fairy haters say 'I don't believe in Fairies' she dies alittle inside.....
Now who doesn't love scantilly clad, sultry women with wings?

Oh wait, those are probably succubi..
Oh but don't you love fairies too?

Don't you just love the witty, mischievous little flutters of an existence by your side?

How can you resist that elf-like smile a young fairy may conjure up to stir your heart?

Oh never mind, I know Vir could probably resist that.... And Loss would definitely not fall for the oldest fairy trick in the book, either... But anyways, most influential fairy-hater? I really haven't seen any good nominees-to-be yet. I'm too well-loved here. Angel Smilie
oh I think you are too much loved, but I agree strongly that he can't resist that elf-like smile a young fairy may conjure up to stir his heart? As in that puppet body portrayed in that avatar, is a stone heart that would turn to the stuffing and fluff that it should be from just one flutter of wings.......
Quote:

Nah, I usually just smash a mosquito when I see one... and bats are a bit too gothic even for me. I don't plan on dating Wednesday Addams anytime soon!
A mosquito is hardly intelligent. *sniff* Like I would ever let myself be smacked by a clumsy, bulky old chap...
Don't worry Clover Smile SmilieWe'll protect you from Vir Happy Elf Smilie
Ease down Clover! Your protective ring's getting bolder and stronger; "because we deserve you!" If you are trying to outsmart us Master Vir, you'll have some riddles to "cross"!!! Elf Smilie Police Smilie Snowman Smilie

But they will be very easy, and we will be very polite, Master Virumore!!!????? Oh, please, dont be angry; I'm just trying to be knightish, impressing a Bonnie Lass. Chicken Smilie Psssst Don't tell HER!
Yes yes of course we all love Clover's company, excpt I'm a tad concerned about Raffy Orc Smiling Smilie I think it's the build up to this months awards which should come by anyday now........ Where in the world has Clover been hiding??? ........... I'll check the attic, you check the basement.........
Quote:

I don't know, maybe some vile Council Member has banned her?
I bet it was you, cruel cruel Vir, you've probably clipped her wings as well. Shame on you. I think that a few of us should protest..........
Of course we would protest, Loss! Wary Smilie

But only if we dare to! Paranoid Smilie Wouldn't protesting be an unpolite move? Angel Smilie
Well, if we were to use that option we should wait first for a few days to see if Clover comes back or not, if she does then all of this is silly Orc Smiling Smilie
I think she arrives precisely when she means to Happy Elf Smilie
Tis time to bid thee fairywell, Cactusess... thou shouldn't have fluttered that close to the web of one of them eensy weensy spiders. Alas!
Moderator Smilie The Council doesn't like the upper part of the Forum to contain lots of meaningless drivel as it can make a bad impression on our visitors. If we still had a chatroom I'd delete a slew of these last posts; howsomever. since we don't, I'll let your chatter remain, but just in this thread and it may disappear later. Animated Wink Smilie Animated Wink Smilie Animated Wink Smilie

Still, I could open a Just Chatter thread in the Green Dragon Tavern for that purpose, until the chatroom is back online. I would have to clear this with the other council members before it is done. What do you think Question Smilie
I think that's seems like a good idea Sir Smile Smilie we often write things or "say" things that aren't precisely what the thread original was meant for ..so yes I think it's a good ideaHappy Elf Smilie
Yeah, that does sound good, but there is alot of 'drivel' floating about the threads, there would be mixed conversations in just one thread. It could cause confusion. But yes it does sound like a good idea, maybe the thread could be called 'Drivel'??? Orc Grinning Smilie

Still, where's Clover???
Clover arrives when she means to. See, it may be the 10th of October now, but it is precisely her predicted arrival time and she is NOT LATE! A fairy is never late.

Well, awards go up to here. Tell me more when you hear of them.
It has been a lovely time. I find out PT has been disabled. I spend my Sunday morning composing sentimental poems. I come back on two days later and find out that everyone thinks I'm finally overcome by my long-time rival, sent into exile with my lovely wings clipped off. I pout. Nobody sees it. And so, nobody offers any words of comfort. I feel tiny tiny Tinkerbell-like rage and wonder if I am jealous. I look around the site for more fairies. None have arrived. I touch my silvery wings again. They're still here. I listen for Vir's pulse, because I know his heart must be beating with horror at my return. Don't hear anything. Must be good news. I am happy again.

Jolly fairy back.
Cloveress
Just one award?

Pah. *grabs the award and walks away*

Glad that that HASN'T happened, we would be oh so saddened, even the big fat elf (which cut deep by the way), apart from 'Most Saruman-like' *cough* and that your beautiful wings are still in tact. Although, why would you want to look for another fairy??? If we did, then we wouldn't have our one and only fairy of PT............
