Hi, how would you interpret that "especially Elrond":
Of the others only Gandalf might be expected to master him – being an emissary of the Powers and a creature of the same order, an immortal spirit taking a visible physical form. In the 'Mirror of Galadriel', 1381, it appears that Galadriel conceived of herself as capable of wielding the Ring and supplanting the Dark Lord. If so, so also were the other guardians of the Three, especially Elrond. But this is another matter. It was part of the essential deceit of the Ring to fill minds with imaginations of supreme power.
Would he be more capable in wielding the ring than Galadriel (I canīt really believe that, cause I think that Galadriel is much more inherntly powerful than him, even if he has Maiar blood in him) or did he just believe that, more than Galadriel, because of the deceit of the ring? I think they both thought they had a chance in wielding the ring, but both were wrong, cause only Gandalf can master it.
I agree with you Nerwen. Neither is capable of wielding the ring uncorruptedly. But I too think Galadriel would have a better chance.
But, if Gandalf was capable to master the ring, and use it against Sauron, why did he decline it when Frodo offered it to him...?

Well Indalas, he declined it because he actually couldn't master it. He tells Frodo that he would use thing Ring for good but the Ring would eventually overcome him and wield a power almost if not greater than Sauron's

Yes, thats what I thought, but Nerwen said something else, and it's not like I am a real specialist or something like that..

neither am I my friend. I myself have been cut down to size here. I who once thought myself a scholar of all things Middle-Earth. Man was I wrong.

Yeah, I had that too... But at least, in my real life friends circle I still know the most about Tolkien Smile Smilie
