I do my best to stay open-minded even when I have quite strong opinions (which is most of the time

). I really, really like PJ's movies [i:12xmxawi]as cinema[/i:12xmxawi], I just think he didn't do as great of a job staying faithful to the book as I think he should have. That doesn't diminish my appreciation for all the good in the movies, though.
The answer to your question is twofold. It's my dirty little secret that I've actually only read [i:12xmxawi]TLotR[/i:12xmxawi] cover-to-cover once

, though I've read the whole thing in bits and pieces many times sense. I tend to have difficulty re-reading long books in general, for some reason. I've read [i:12xmxawi]The Hobbit[/i:12xmxawi] and [i:12xmxawi]The Silmarillion[/i:12xmxawi] many times each though, as well as most of the anthologies of [i:12xmxawi]Unfinished Tales[/i:12xmxawi] and [i:12xmxawi]The History of Middle-earth[/i:12xmxawi]. Perhaps most importantly, I have discussed much and read more on various Tolkien forums over the years. In doing so it is driven home to me that there is still a lot that I don't, though.
P.S. It's great to see you posting in so many threads right off the bat. I hope you enjoy your time here.
