I'm not sure how most of UT, [i:3evjlvau]The Silmarillion[/i:3evjlvau], or anything of Farmer Giles relates to [i:3evjlvau]The Hobbit[/i:3evjlvau]. If you meant as separate projects I could see your point, though I have no desire to see filmmakers/scriptwriters go and 'flesh out' Tolkien's unfinished stories (as would be necessary). As for Farmer Giles I must admit I've never read it, but since it's not Middle-earth-oriented I have a feeling a lot of people would be disappointed (regardless of how good the movie is itself). I'd probably go see it though.
Thread: The Hobbit 2.

I am almost certain I should have posted this in a prexisting thread. But I havent been particularly active recently so. I dont really know whats going on and where. Anyway.
Do you think the hobbit films will be titled as, part 1 and part 2 or will someone get creative and try to come up with a title for each part.
My suggestions would be, part one as The hobbit, There. and part two as The hobbit, and back again. Ofc I am joking.
Incidentaly who thinks the second film should open with Smaugs decent onto Erebor? I would be interested to see his actual purge of the mountain. And it fits with the vision of expanding the main story.

movie one: The Hobbit
movie two: There and Back Again
it would be simple, yet fair. just an idea

seems to me they may work "Battle of the 5 Armies"
into it somewhere....to make it sound more badass.

I think the first one will be called [i:spb2jdq2]The Hobbit[/i:spb2jdq2] and the second will have its own name, or perhaps it's own subtitle (i.e., [i:spb2jdq2]The Hobbit: ____[/i:spb2jdq2]). I really don't know, but I doubt it'll just be part 1 and part 1.

You mean a flashback to when he first came there? That could be quite interesting ... somewhat like the flashback to the finding of the Ring in [i:spb2jdq2]The Return of the King[/i:spb2jdq2]. It could definitely work, though I'm not entirely fond with the whole notion of expansion to begin with.

I don't think [i:3e4p90os]There and Back Again[/i:3e4p90os] would work for the second movie because the "There" part has already been done and it's just being at the destination and then returning. I suppose they could call the first movie [i:3e4p90os]There[/i:3e4p90os] and the second one [i:3e4p90os]Back Again[/i:3e4p90os] for an overall title of [i:3e4p90os]There and Back Again[/i:3e4p90os] though.

Hey, guys!
I'm looking for the official " Hobbit, the " website. Does anybody can help me?

Hi Katya! It's a bit premature for there to be an official site of any substance yet since the first film's projected release date is still over two years away. The closest thing that I am aware of is [url=http://www.thehobbitblog.com/:931y70ds]The Official Movie Blog[/url:931y70ds] though that hasn't been updated in about 18 months. Right now fansites are the best place to get news and rumouurs about [i:931y70ds]The Hobbit[/i:931y70ds]. In addition to this site theonering.net is pretty good too.
I hope you'll stick around here and discuss [i:931y70ds]The Hobbit[/i:931y70ds], LOTR, Middle-earth, Tolkien, and more. It can be pretty fun.

I was thinking maybe they'll call the first one The Hobbit, and the second one a chapter title. The Gathering of the Clouds would seem like a decent title from a chapter name.

I agree. It's one book and one story, I see no reason why it shouldn't be one movie. Other than that they are adding to the story, but if we're on the subject of what [i:1mt55qom]should[/i:1mt55qom] be then I don't think they should do that either!
[quote:1mt55qom]Haha. Don't mind me.

More movies the better if you ask me. I only like fantasy/si fi movies and
90% of these are crap, so 2 Hobbit movies a bridging movie a book of unfinished tales the Silmarillion even Farmer Giles of Ham can all be made into movies. think that would be great.

Farmer Giles of Ham is a hoot. Another middle aged middle class well to do person going off to fight an interesting dragon. I read it recently in Tales from the Perlious Realm; for the second time, actually, for I also read it years ago in a different edition. Well worth a look - but it's not TH nor LOTR. I can't ever imagine anyone ever being bold enough to film it.
