That clears it up a lot, Beren. I thought I read on TORn that TimeWarner was the only the bidder left, but perhaps that was just a prediction. :? Anyway, I hope that MGM's debtors will take TimeWarner's bid and not try to auction everything off piecemeal.
Do you have a point in making this thread, chris63? Why just link to TORn's ever-changing homepage?
I think that he was probably trying to link here: [url:1a05y4to]http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2010/05/07/36555-time-warner-now-lone-mgm-bidder/[/url:1a05y4to]
And that links here: [url:27y83bp3]http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118018970.html?categoryid=1043&cs=1[/url:27y83bp3]

This is good news to me, since it says, "[Blavatnik] would have probably sold off the rights to James Bond and the Hobbit." So now that he's not in the bidding anymore, Hobbit has more of a chance. I don't know what Time Warner would do with it, though.
It is interesting to me that they claim MGM only has half of The Hobbit among its assets. This must mean that only the first part has been picked up by MGM, and not Hobbit 2 (yet).

On the other hand, the film-makers are still preparing for a November start date for filming, so someone somewhere expects the MGM situation to be resolved in time.

It would be nice to get some REAL news. It's been awhile, Eldo. If not for you and Tin's amusing diversions, this forum would have just about nothing to chat about. <img src='/images/smileys/wink.gif' border='0' alt='Wink Smilie' />
I agree Odo, but [i:2m4y6txc]The Hobbit[/i:2m4y6txc] is, as ady quite appropriately put it, in limbo. We know that pre-production has been ongoing and steps are being taken to get ready for filming but there's only so much that can be done without a studio-approved budget. So both the film-makers and the fans are left to sit around and wait while MGM's creditors try to figure things out.
All part of the plan Eldo, have faith!
