Thread: Easter Eggs

Bottom of Page Message Board > The Lord of the Rings > Easter Eggs
I was reading a string of posts where someone mentioned an easter egg containing the white council spoofed by Jack Black and I was wondering if anyone knew of other eggs imbedded in the dvd's????
It wasn't the White Council, it was the Council of Elrond - the Easter Egg for FOTR. I know of at least one such "egg" per EE DVD (if there's more I don't know).

[INSTRUCTIONS]If I recall correctly, you go to the Scene Selection on the first DVD of each EE and go to the last page of the selection menu. You then go to the last scene listed and then press the "Down" button. A ring icon will appear, press "Enter", and see the egg.[/INSTRUCTIONS]

I think that should work.
Sweeeet 8-) . I didn't know I had that Easter Egg. I'll check it out later. Thanks Eldorion  .

No problem GB. I did a bit of Googling and apparently the process works with the last scene of the scene select on [i:1st2e9yb]either[/i:1st2e9yb] of the EE discs, so there's actually two Eggs per film. 8-)
I couldnt find any of the Easter eggs on my copy of the extended editions.

Perhaps it is just the American copys that have them
The American copies definitely have them Elladan.
I watched the 2 Easter eggs on both Return of the King and The Fellowship of the Ring and 1 of the eggs on The Two Towers. I can not seem to find the second Easter egg on Two Towers. Does anyone know how to find it?

As I also said in a later post, this works for any of the EE discs (not counting the "Appendices"Wink Smilie.
There is also an Easter egg on the second disc of the Fellowship of the Ring extended edition and the second disc of the Return of the King extended edition.
On the second DVD, scene 48, click on the number 48 - on the right side of the screen - and the silhouettes of Barad Dur and Orthanc appear just underneath, click it. You'll see another introduction by Peter Jackson, and the Two Towers cinematic preview trailer: the one played in theatres after the Fellowship of the Ring, towards the end of its running period.

For Return of the King disc 2 easter egg, scroll to the end of the chapter selection page and press down once more on the bottom one to highlight a hidden ring icon; select the the ring icon and the Easter egg will begin to play. (the MTV movie awards spoof interview with Peter Jackson, Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughan.)

Does any one know how to find the Two Towers Disc 2 Easter egg?
What part of my last post did you not understand, Cbernui?

P.S. Was there really any need to repeat what I already said?

I repeated what you said for the sake of clarity. Because the SECOND easter egg in FOTR actually does not have a ring appear at the bottom; it has the silhouettes of Barad Dur and Orthanc appear off to the side. You said there are two eggs per film. I just want to know where to find the second egg in The Two Towers.
Eldorian, you didn't explain yourself well, and I want to make it a little more clear.
[b:1vp4c9i2]I[/b:1vp4c9i2] didn't explain myself clearly because ... why exactly? The only fault you have mentioned is that the Ring is actually an outline on one of the movies (I'll take your word for this), hardly something that will stop people from finding the egg. While we're on the topic, [b:1vp4c9i2]you[/b:1vp4c9i2] could have simply said that my method didn't work for the second disc of [i:1vp4c9i2]TTT[/i:1vp4c9i2] instead of repeatedly asking how to find it without directly responding to me.

I checked though and for the second disc of [i:1vp4c9i2]TTT[/i:1vp4c9i2] it didn't work, so it seems I made an unwarranted assumption about it, and for that I apologize. I googled a bit though and as far as I can tell there's only one Easter Egg for [i:1vp4c9i2]TTT[/i:1vp4c9i2]. Again, sorry for the assumption and the miscommunication.

The only reason I assumed there was still an egg for the second disc of TTT, was because (like I said) The ring did not appear on one of them. It was Barad Dur and Orthanc on a completely different part of the screen. That is the only reason I was asking. I apologize if I sounded rude, and for any frustration I may have caused to anyone.
yep, there's only one on TT, sadly  i wish there were more! Oddly though, i tried to find the 2nd easter eggs in FOTR and ROTK, yet it didn't work, so i found them on the internet. Since they only intially said that their were only 3 easter eggs and it turned out their were 5, maybe there are more hidden in the depths of the DVDs.... who knows?
No problem Cbernui, I'm all for just moving on from this.
It appears none of the easter eggs are available on the British version of the extended editions, apparently Jack Blacks insinuations were to lude for a PG certificate and the film makers were not prepared to accept a 12 certificate for the sake of an insignificant easter egg.

Which is a shame.

I am not sure about the other Easter Eggs but I have been unable to find them on my copy, so I can only assume all them were removed.
It was fairly outrageous, yes. YouTube can probably help you if you want to see them.
