from Ainulindal’ in the Sil..... it says that Eru gave them sight...after they had created the music of ainur....
Are you sure you don't mean he gave them vivsions of what was to come of their music?
It doesn't say the couldn't see. I think Peredhil is right in sudjesting that you are talking about the vision of their music and what would come in to being.
Also the fact that the void into whch Eru showed them the vision was a featureless blackness up until then may have also caused confusion.
