Well everyone else on your list I don’t worry about too much because they all got their just desserts in the end (not that Melkor didn’t either), but Morgoth was the spawn of it all, and is definitely who I despise the most. There are just way too many things he did that are absolutely unforgivable to me! I wish I could be Tulkas for a day just so I could throw Morgoth on the ground, and laugh in his face!

Welcome to PT btw, hope you enjoy it here, and I hope you stick around!Happy Elf Smilie
Sauron and Morgoth hated ?? Without those two guys, there would be no Lord of the Rings/Silmarillion at all think about that. Hate F’anor.

Oh I have thought about it, a great deal actually. Yes, I agree that they were a necessary evil to give us the treasured gems we have!

Without J.R.R. Tolkien it'wouldn't be Silmarillion,LOTR hobbit and Unfinished tales ......The question is when u read these epics which character u hated most.

Melkor-Morgoth Bauglir undoubtedly. For his foul deeds I would sentence him to be eternally chained under an acid dripping snake. Sort of the worst case Chinese water torture. Was it Loki who first had to endure this same punishment?
Definitely Melkor, although even he feared Ungoliant at one point.
Morgoth, definitely. Who else?? I did hate the Balrogs when they took down Fingon, though.

Feanor should be the one hated. He was a real dumb***.

Say what?!?! Feanor was the ultimate Noldor, the greatest elf of all time!!! He was just twisted with the lies of Melkor (as was everyone), under grievance when he was rash (his father was just murdered, give the kid a break! ). Plus he made the Silmarils--the greatest jewels ever wrought.
This is so weird...I also can't help liking the bad guys ((Saruman is my favorite character off that list...) He's so cold and distant...and full of himself). But, half the time, I hate the bad ppl and want 2 torture them. Is that weird? Disturbed Smilie

Arco, yea thats a little strange...
I am not sure yet, Sauron is pretty bad, but Melkor-Morgoth Bauglir seems to be the worst of them all.
Rolling Eyes Smilie OK, yeah, that was weird... Anyway, I also think Morgoth Bauglir is the most evil. After all, he was Sauron's master...
What about Eol I hate him. But over all Morgoth is worst

I guess we all have a strange fascination for evil, though most of us don't admit it. IMHO, it's important what we do in the end. I too felt atracted by the idea of Melkor, but he is the original evil, after all ... Sauron? Too deceiving ... I despise Saruman (traitour!) ... But only in the cases of Ungoliant and Shelob could I talk of real hatred!

Btw, I always made a distinction between Melkor, He Who Arises in Might, the greatest Ainu, and Morgoth, the Dark Enemy of the World; I know they are one and the same, and yet ... I can't help viewing them as separate individuals! Morgoth I hate; Melkor I can't!

Namarie!
Morgoth I cried
When I read it I thought about the song The Curse of F’anor by Blind Guardian....that’s what he sings:
Quote:
Don't fear the eyes of the dark lord
Morgoth I cried
All hope is gone but I swear revenge
Hear my oath
I will take part in your damned fate

Well I do not hate Morgoth...I pity him....pity him for trying to find the Flame Imperishable...but never realising that the Flame Imperishable is Eru Il’vatar!
And I guess I really dislike(ALMOST hate) F’anor...but since virumor said not to hate Morgoth since there would be no "The Silmarillion" then I also say don’t hate F’anor since he created themWink Smilie
hehehehe

I think it's the motive of the genius Tolkien tried to present us, both in the case of Melkor and of Feanor: they're the greatest of their kin and, thus, tend to reach higher! You cannot ask a genius to lower to himself to the other's level; it's impossible! It's not that they don't understand the rest, it's just the opposite!

Namarie!

P.S.: Feel free to hate Feanor if u like ... he still remains the greatest Elf ever! hehe
